    The DOE has been transporting low and medium level waste to temporary holding facilites at the Nevada Test Site since at least the late 90's. Why temporary? Because they plan to unbury it and move it to Yucca Mountain later. Joy. Gotta love it.

    This is why our delegates in Congress are trying to get more support against this. Remember, the waste has to be delivered via road and rail from all over this nation. It's everyone's problem.

    Well, seeing as trucked waste will be rolling through Las Vegas highways just a scant couple of miles from where I live, I've been a part of this fight for a while.
    There are some here who've just given up and are willing to let the government roll over them. As for the city governments in and around the Las Vegas Valley & Clark County, we're ready to file legal briefs.
    It's going to be a long and ugly fight. In the end we either win, or we glow. Gotta love those odds.

    I've been hearing rumors floating around Las Vegas about using something like this to wire the casino's for broadband with existing wiring. Y'know, they make millions of dollars a year, but they won't put up a cent to wire themselves for cat 5. Bah.

    Lindows aside, I'd have to say yes. There's obviously some sort of desire for this, because this IS why WINE exists right? @_@;

    It already is being done. Many small and large airports have GPS approach plates, and when the GPS is coupled to the Flight Management System (on airliners so-equipped), it can fly to any point of the hundreds of thousands of "fixes" in the sky.

    The FAA is slowly moving towards open-air navigation using GPS. They recognize the ease in workload on both pilot and ATC with this in place. Unfortunatly, the occasional position error is a bad thing for air traffic. The FAA has started a program called Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), which is a network of ground stations that take sattilite data, correct any signal errors, and beam the corrected data to the GPS onboard.

    The only other problem is the fact that any aviation-certified GPS decks are usually pretty pricy. Expect GPS to explode over the coming years for aviation though.

    Big problem. If this is coupled with autopilot, all it takes is a single flick of a switch to disable the autopilot.
    Not to mention all electrical equipment has circuit breakers of some kind onboard. They can always pull a breaker.

    The idea of a sniper rifle is useless if we can't get 1 shot kills.
    I've racked a few perfectly lined up headshots, and they live. O_o;

    Aside from that, this test does seem pretty fun. I'm getting a good FPS from my Duron 750 & bottleneck ATI All In Wonder 128.

    I had some hope that at least during a time of crisis like this, zealots would get off their soapboxes and help out, even if it means possibly having to deal with MS.

    Lobby the Red Cross to change to open source after all this is said and done.
    This isn't the time to make a stand for the cause.

    Battlebots.com will get their hits from people mistakenly typing in battlebots.org, and everyone can get along! If people would just take a moment and do that simple thing if they have a domain that might get accidental hits, we might not have these problems.

    Certain operational, debriefing material has been edited from the Expedition One ship's log. This material has been identified as "Redacted." (.....) To be effective, these communications require absolute candor in discussion that would not be available if parties to the exchange, including intended recipients on the ground and future crewmembers, thought the material might be released to the public.

    Does anyone else find it sort of unsettling that NASA censors parts of these logs, and won't let anyone else see them?

    Honestly, why would Bush want to spend money on a lovely project like looking at Pluto, that he won't be able to take credit for?
    By giving the ISS more money, He can puff up his chest/ego by stating "I helped keep the ISS afloat by giving it more money." It'll sound real nice to the sheeple in 4 years when he tries to stay in office.

    The sheer volume of anime series produced is astounding. Many of the people who suddenly latch onto the few sick dubbed broadcast anime will never know the joys of watching such classics as Kimangure Orange Road, Marmalade Boy, Evangelion, Macross, etc, etc.

    Every time a series becomes overdone, the 'trend setters' always move onto new ones. My new series is Kareshi Kanojyo no Jijyo, great stuff.

    This probably sounds odd coming from a relativly new anime fan (circa 1997), I totally understand the point you're coming from. While I'm hardly old hat, I have dealt with many hobbies of mine growing from small communities to large unwieldy groups.

    I personally enjoy Fanime and A-kon, they are a little smaller and seem a little more 'fan friendly', without the feedbag treatment of some of the larger conventions.
    Fan-run cons are much better to attend IMHO, because although they may not have the big name people coming, those running it are REALLY passionate about their hobby, and do everything to make sure everyone has a blast.

    Interesting. Sony should have called it a shishi then, if it's being modeled afer a lion. Aibo ERS-110 was meant to be a friend/companion robot, which is why they called it an Aibo. :)
