Mod parent up! No pun intended.
Anything that can isolate porn from the youngsters is something that everyone should be interested in. And as I've stated before this is a good way to determine legitamite porn sites from the shady ones.
Anyone who wants (or is forced and I do think it should be forced) to go to the.xxx domain should be subject to constant scrutiny to ensure that their content does not violate the criminal code as it appiles to children. How many porn sites have you seen that put 30-ish year olds in pigtails? While it may be obvious to most that they are 30-ish, what about when you do the same with "18-ish"? By having the.xxx domain constantly scrutinized you will know that the content you are looking at is at least legit in the legal sense. The moral sense would be for another discussion entirely.
While it will be used for caterogization, it is more important to note that the real reason is to prevent the youngsters from accessing porn of any kind http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.xxx There is also potential for a domain that has to be checked and scrutinized to make sure that no child porn is posted as a requirement for qualification as a.xxx domain. Something greater than a 2257 statement http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2257 I think they are on the right track with this
Did I say it was as good as HDTV? No but its damn close. I have a true HD (720p or 1080i) satellite system and this upconverting DVD player sure does bring this very close to the satellite quality.
Upconversion adds pixels without artifacts and that does provide a sharper image. I was merely trying to point out the option of not jumping on the HD-DVD Blu-ray bandwagon until pricing comes down. Here is an article on a piece of upconverting equipment that explains upconversion briefly. http://www.dvd-gear.com/hdtv-upconverter-faq.htm
I just bought a Toshiba SD-DVD Upconverting DVD player that upconverts to 720p and 1080i (via HDMI or DVI only mind you) and it looks phenomanal. All of this for a mere $150 Canadian.
I'm quite happy to wait up to ten years for the prices for a Blu-ray or HD-DVD player to come into this price range, as I'm sure the quality increase from the upconverting player is probably only negligable comparatively.
In the meantime I save $850 by waiting and already enjoy my current DVD collection in near HD quality. That's $850 that can go towards more SD-DVD's or other frivolous purchases.
You gotta wonder about their business plan sometimes, especially since the format war is still very undecided. Does this help you decide?

Mac OS X Security Test
Tue 7 March 2006 11:59 PM CST (8 March 2006 0559 GMT)
The testing period is now closed.
The response has been very strong, and the test has illustrated its point.
Traffic to the host spiked at over 30 Mbps.
Most of the traffic, aside from casual web visitors, was web exploit scripts, ssh dictionary attacks, and scanning tools such as Nessus.
The machine was under intermittent DoS attack. During the two brief periods of denial of service, the host remained up.
The test machine was a Mac mini (PowerPC) running Mac OS X 10.4.5 with Security Update 2006-001, had two local accounts, and had ssh and http open with their default configurations.
There were no successful access attempts of any kind, including during the 38 hour duration of the test period, nor have their been any claims of success. The host is still the same host and configuration used for the test.
Some snippets from 7 March 2006:
The site received almost a half a million requests via the web.
There were over 4000 login attempts via ssh.
The ipfw log grew at 40MB/hour and contains 6 million events logged.
Several social engineering attempts were received, including one purporting to be from the government of Sweden, which apparently uses GMail.;-)
More test results and information will be published here at a future date.
I'm not being condescending in any way. Many people have gotten their parents online and inevitably they download games like bridge etc. and compound that with the grandkids coming over and installing their crapware and you now have a part time job as their I.T. department. This might at least help turn it into seasona (Xmas) employment only
It depends what your definition of works fine is. My definition is not feeling like I'm on acid when I drag windows around. The trailing is unbelievable. I could also show you screenshots if i had made any, however these would be static images after the trails stopped and would look fine. I'm talking about motion, actually using the OS constantly was very tiring in my experience
I have both a mac G4 400 and a few old pc's and have found that the X86 boxes will run quite smoothly with most distro's, however the mac G4 is totally hopeless if running xorg or its predicessor. I've tried debian/yellow dog & mandrake on the mac and all those cd's do is make great coasters
These results are rubbish. The test is first being done on a hydrated patient and he feels pain, later he is mildly dehydrated and the same pain is inflicted on the same area as before and obviously it hurts more than before. ie Chinese water torture etc. Hey doc, it hurts when i push on it...."Yeah, well stop pushing on it!"
While flash memory may seem ideal it is terrible in dealing with power interuptions when the filesystem is mounted. Just ask apple how many ipod shuffle's and nano's were rendered useless by a power outage. We all know that power interuptions can wreak havoc with any electronic device, but it seems to me that you gotta wear kid gloves with flash

First of all, consume large amounts of acid (just not the brown ones) then proceed to webpage. http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/ and then see what catches your eye. In my case it was the pixels that said "jesus" which you can see here: http://www.pixel4jesus.com/en/. It would seem that everyone that bought from http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/ was ripped off. Twice the profit margin. Oh, BTW jesus says "hi, and has the sage advice to not pour bleach into your eyes", even though it seems like a good idea when on acid.... I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW THE RAIN HAS GONE!!!!!!!!!!
Remember the saying "don't put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear"? The reason for that is to not damage the eardrum with a q-tip or pen etc. The ears clean themselves when not obstructed, however the regular use of earbuds compacts the wax in your ears against the eardrum and will eventually cause eardrum scrathes or tears as the wax becomes drier and more dense. Then you compound the problem with regular use of earbuds. The purpose of ear wax is to protect the ears, but it must constantly be brushed out naturally by the tiny hairs in your ear and new soft wax will be formed to replace the old. Putting a couple drops of baby oil in each ear each day will at least keep the wax soft enough to maybe give the ears a chance to clean themselves when you finally take the buds out.
If this legislation is passed the MPAA Amnesty program will be offering one free movie for every PC tuner card, ADVC converter & mini DV surrendered. Unfortunately the movie will be: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0299930/
While sales may be down to last year. itunes still provides a way for lazy people to legally download music, where if they had to go to a retail outlet would probably just resort to a P2P. So in fact itunes has increased profits regardless of amount. Don't mistake greed with reality
