The GP2X according to the online community suffesr a number of problematic issues right now like battery life and slow video playback, which made me refrain from purchasing one. Perhaps if they choose to release an improved revision would I consider getting my paws on it. Bad karma for them since they declined to release the code. Serves them right in my book.
He's a conservative corporate dictator so why did this come as much of a surprise? Oh right, mainstream users.
Oh and I use hi5.com which has all my passwords and contact lists. Groovy.
.. is just a point of view, so I named myself Phake, a parody on the whole genuinity thing. As for counterfeit hardware I guess nowadays it doesn't matter much now all the components are cheaply made, the difference lies in how much effort the manufacturers put into their hardware to make it look as genuine as possible.
Journalism overall isnt living its best days certainly.. But the videogaming press sucks almost as much as anything dedicated to similar "hobbies". If some Brits here could recall the Digitiser versus Sega Magazine clash over Sonic the Hedgehog 3 review. Digitiser awarded Sonic 3 an average score of 70%, and fans everywhere backlashed with anger at the teletext-based magazine for the unfavourable review. I was only 12 at the time but I was sincerely disappointed by Sonic 3, yet remained a big fan. The point is most reviewers were always biased, and many people have expected them to suddenly grow up with the advent of the web and huge multi-platform publications and start writing mature and informative journalism. Didn't happen, probably wont for more years to come.
Of course there are exceptions; Edge magazine to a certain extent for example, flight sim reviewers too, abd even some "indie" European websites/publications who moderately regard the rabid fans and lean towards professional integrity instead. The aforementioned confession by a Gamers Europe staff member detailing the critical Halo 2 debacle, I recommend you read it for further insight!
Yeah I recognised Police 911 it's a nice game if a bit strained my muscles:P But it CAN be done with an EyeToy and a compatible lightgun game. Of course lightgun games on consoles are a dying genre themselves, but it's possible to create unique gameplay experiences with hardware you can buy for cheap or stuff you already own (in this case a PS2 + EyeToy + Lightgun peripheral)
SEGA had already tried the hardware add-ons approach and failed miserably because of it. What makes Mr Gates think this time a combination of OPTIONAL harddisk and HD-DVD drive would actually work?
Gamers got deeper pockets in this century or what?
It bugs me I had to wait so many years to be able to see visually compelling games on the PS2 like Killzone and God of War. Then again the smart fellows at Polyphony Digital, SquareEnix and Konami harnassed so much prowess from the PS2 as early as 2001.
Games like MGS and even Snatcher have some very interesting character development and plot twists, not to mention music and dialogue that pips much of what Hollywood has to offer today. The "codec" implementation alone is pure genius.. Other stellar titles, like Shadow of the Colossus and Grim Fandango demonstrate how much the industry has advanced since the days of Pong and Pacman.
Those delusional/senile elitist psuedointellectuals like Ebert really get on my nerves. I mean, by contrast most paintings don't register with me at all, and I'd be hard pressed to label many films as "art".. The only difference of course is that people listen to critic arseholes like Ebert who think they know everything, yet haven't bothered to get seriously involved with games to begin with.
Get lost you old tosh!
I'm amazed why is everyone talking about the DS and the PSP, havent you guys heard of the GP32 and GP2X? They're both excellent products capable of some nifty emulation, which is precisely reasonable if you seek to play true classics on the road. Heck, the new GP2X can playback video at almost HDTV resolutions full speed and hooks to a TV straight out of the box!
Now if only they'd incorporate some sort of cellphone into the GP line of handhelds that'd be ultra kewl!:)

Some of the finest journalists are based in the UK, but you Brits don't appreciate it. Your loss not ours!
Well obviously a troll did :P

Gee haven't you guys noticed Anti-gaming = anti-gamers too? It's therefore by logical induction a hate club and ought to be shut down! :D
