So what are you suggesting? IT is the backbone working hard to make an orderly scheme out of a chaotic working environment. Your jab at them is very unfair.
It's strange considering FPS has been around for over 15 years, and storyline still isn't incorporated into the (mostly) mindless action. Only a few titles have managed to embed the plot so well into the gameplay. The commercial failure Undying comes to mind, as well as the exceedingly successful Half-Life. Perhaps there is hope after all, but most of the problems associated with the industry are caused by gamers themselves, who repeatedly declined to support original and innovative titles. Else we wouldn't be having these kind of discussions.
Well I don't know what to make of this. Has all this dumb marketing turned us into childish sheep? It's certainly someone's fault, that there are entire nations comprised of "TV cry-babies", adults failing to live up to their responsibility etc. There's nothing wrong with the occasional juvenile escapade, but when fully grown individuals start acting like babies, then the whole of society is expected to become even more dysfunctional.
Soaring divorce rates, the erosion of the middle class, blatant consumerism... Really the top brass are short sighted, because all this will eventually come back and bite them in the arse, or at least their next of kin.
The stupid responses here aren't assuring either.. "What is maturity?" is just as laughable as those cry-babies on Tyra, Oprah or Dr. Phil.
Seconded, the Genesis was a HUGE success in the middle east (along with the original Famicom, it was hard really to tell who truimphed), up till the Playstation became affordable in 1997 and 1998 onwards.
... nothing beats a 'Mech equipped with a jump pack!:D But I must admit overheating is a killer.
This does look interesting however, albeit it won't see the light of day, at least outside Japan.
You're wrong, it may have shortened the duration of the war, but to the rest of the world it's well known that Japan was about to surrender anyway. America wanted to test its new toys on real people, that's all there's to it. You're deluding yourself if you keep declining.
America has no high moral ground.
Hear hear. Even though I generally dislike Microsoft I am a MCSE (stop laughing already!) and get shitloads of work done on their Windows Server 2003. The trick is to anticipate the weaknesses of the system well ahead, something that run-of-the-mill admins just don't appreciate, thus lending MCSE's their bad name.
There won't be a world where everyone would switch to Linux. At least not for a few more decades.
As a non-English speaking veteran gamer, I always found British journalism to be simply better. American editors write their articles in a very simplistic manner, even amateur in some cases (the US Videogames magazine just plain sucked), but not so in the 51st state. Even GamesMaster when they sold out in the mid-1990's retained a dignified reputation among gamers worldwide. Can't say the same about ad-infested Gamepro or EGM.
I hear thou.. MPlayer Classic is decently simple and I recommend it to everyone I know (as part of the K-Lite Codec Pack). It even makes use of your 3D card if you want it to, so that $500+ card can actually be utilised outside the gaming environment.
Right on! I wonder where do you live? I'm a resident of the middle east (a non-oil producing state) and it seems we're destined for an energy crisis sooner than anyone else in this region. Therefore I bet more people will be forced to find new ways of utilising alternate sources of energy, like burning olive waste (dunno what it's called) for winter heating. We already use solar energy for heating in our house, and mass transportation is our key means of traveling, despite its occasionally erratic and chaotic organisation (this is the 3rd world after all).
Wish all westerners just attempted alternative sources of energy rather this inane daydreaming of theirs!
There always will be malicious use for nanotech by notorious governments and private firms, no amount of "responsible" scientists will change human behaviour. I'd suggest reading Prey by Michael Crichton to comprehend the true extent and ease with which certain people could develop serious threats using nanotech. Not to say all is doomed when nanotech hits mainstream, I'm bracing myself for at least a few nasty surprises along the way.
Apparently insecure and/or incompetent sysadmins are behind the boom in "all-in-one-fix-'em-all" suites. Why not tackle the problems head-on yourself rather than relying on third party software which might actually jeopardise your entire system without you knowing it?
And I found Norton Anti-virus to be a serious hog on system resources. It's safe to assume their other products are in the same league.

..hijacked by sadistic Capitalists and right-wing Bible thumpers. I drink in your honour. Excuse my Engrish.
I don't get it, how come Politian be crooked? Redundant even? I bet the Catholic Church wouldn't be too happy with those allegations of yours! :P

Oh and I forgot to ask dear /. readers to mod that schmuck down, a shame I can't mod his arse myself since I decided to post :-/
You schmuck why do you post such ignorant and wrong info?
Original poster shouldn't be modded "interesting". For heaven's sake why are haters/racists tolerated on Slashdot?

Check out Under Defeat, it was released recently as a commercial title in Japan, it's akin to Zero Gunner and it's pretty fun! ^^

Wow, reading all these responses, it's like not being on slashdot! All of Bill's fanboys have come to the rescue! :P

CGW isn't as good as it used to be.. But the same can for basically all other computer game publications out there.

Wow so now I'm a liberal because I protest Yahoo's subordination to a dictatorship.

I think you're right, but whatever happened to VIA anyway?
I think there were other titles too.. Like Actua Soccer, Terminal Velocity (which were included on the demo CD).. Prolly several other titles too.
Would you care to elaborate that POV? I'm Bosnian myself, and interested in knowing.
If only you had told me that before I got involved with my crappy Win2003 PocketPC device? :-/
