Anyone who has half a fucking brain, when asked the question "How do we get this oil out of the ocean", will not say "dump chemicals into the ocean that cause the oil and water to become nearly inseparable". BP, on the other hand, says "who cares if we get the oil out of the ocean, it's not profitable, more important is that we dump dispersant onto the spill to make the ocean surface look better to avoid bad press".

It is NEVER profitable to do something safely. Safety requires extra equipment, review, supervision, strict adherence to policies, etc. That's the definition of safety. These things have and will always cost money.

The only thing you can do to make this "unprofitable" is to require amazingly huge fines for any problems that arise. Of course, then you have to deal with the issue of getting a multinational multi-billion dollar company to actually pay the fine.

You stop drilling and figure out a way to attach a failsafe to this thing. Maybe you can't replace the BOP itself, but don't try to tell me that you can't rig a mechanism to it that will prevent an oil leak should the BOP fail.

Doesn't matter if it's going to delay work for three months and cost a billion dollars. If it's too expensive to drill safely then you shouldn't be drilling at all.

Yes, this camera uses a single lens and yes, it's digital. So does that $20 piece of junk point-and-shoot digital camera that you can buy at walmart. By your logic every single modern day camera is actually a DSLR because they use one lens and are digital.

"A digital single-lens reflex camera (digital SLR or DSLR) is a digital camera that uses a mechanical mirror system and pentaprism to direct light from the lens to an optical viewfinder on the back of the camera."
The iphone does not use a mechanical mirror system and pentaprism and therefore is not a DSLR, period. There's no debate here. It's simply not a DSLR camera.

There's also a second issue here. If you say "I used a computer to do such and such" then it's understood that you were using any hardware running windows, apple, or linux operating systems. There's really only three options. Not so with microcontrollers. There's hundreds of microcontrollers and they're all significantly different from one to another and attempting to replicate the results on a different microcontroller requires a fair bit of work. It's extremely helpful to say "I did this with an Arduino" or "I did this with a PIC model number XYZ", etc.

I disagree. If you read the comments on the trackers then you can pretty much avoid poor quality rips. To bittorrent something I have to spend about an hour to get it including finding a torrent and then the time to download it. With hulu I just go to hulu.com, type in "family guy", and click play. I have to watch about 2-5 minutes of ads, which is far less than downloading the torrent.

That said, if it's a movie then it's not worth it to go to hulu. The commercials ruin the mood and flow of the movie, whereas TV shows are actually designed with commercials in mind. If it's something that I want to watch more than once then I will torrent it because I'll have to watch the ads on hulu multiple times.

It's not a "bittorrent is always better" or a "hulu is always better".
