Now a project from Microsoft Research is trying to bring that kind of data mining back home to help people explore their own piles of personal digital data.
i would say their intent is dubious but i already know MS is run by rat bastards, so it's just going to be used against us.
Incapsula, a provider of cloud-based security for web sites, released a study today showing that 51% of web site traffic is automated software programs, and the majority is potentially damaging, — automated exploits from hackers, spies, scrapers, and spammers.
and it just so happens that Incapsula has the perfect solution to save you from all this... for a price.
if you are going to love and play a game forever then $60 is a steal. if it's a once through in a week and throw it in a bin then you can go with a rental service like gamefly. i used to think they were full of crap with their rental price but every few months i go through 4 or 5 games because i'm not stingy on a game and researching to make sure i get a good game, so i'm saving a huge amount of money and time. you can also buy games from them which is good because it can be really cheap.
there are options, you dont have to pay $60 for all your xbox360/ps3/wii games.
There are cushier jobs than leading Sony Entertainment Network’s burgeoning security shop, but Brett Wahlin was never one to shy from a challenge. So when the entertainment giant looked to revamp its security in the wake of the devastating hacking attacks against its PlayStation Network last year, the former McAfee Chief Security Officer answered the call.
McAfee, seriously? What, they couldnt shell out a few more bucks to get a guy from Norton?:)
everytime researchers try to make something that can walk/run/whatever, they rely on components that are far less versatile than that which they are trying to emulate. i'm talking about replacing muscles with servos and other stuff. with the recent discovery of "muscle wire" i would think researchers would use this wire to build complex muscles making it possible to replace a lot of actuators with a single complex muscle.
while very cool, i think they are going about this all wrong.
i'm quite certain plenty of people were killed (likely suicide) while trying to use Microsoft Tablet PC and it's ill conceived notion that a stylist and a mouse are the same.
it's unreachable for now but with a vehicle that can travel close to C, time dilation will occur making the trip seem shorter to the travelers. this is somewhere we may actually be able to travel to without FTL drives which seem like the space travel equivalent of flying cars like in BTTF II.
however, i'm pretty sure we're just going to die out on this rock.
TI's line of MSP430 chips run using little solar cells. hell, they practically run on their own self-esteem. so scale that technology and bam, you got a super computer that runs on a couple AA batteries.
The results are based on interviews on landline and cellular telephones conducted in English with 2,303 adults age 18 or older living in the continental United States from August 1-31, 2011
2,303 isnt anywhere near a decent sample size. get a minimum of 100K people that are evenly geographically distributed and then we can talk. also, you are getting answers from people that are willing to waste their time on a stupid on the phone. as far as we know, they went to a single college and called the dorms.
The more they destroy their developer-base and show that they are unfriendly to developers, the more developers will avoid WP7. The net result being the suicide of WP7. This is great... well, except for the two people that bought a WP7 phone.
i know what you are saying but you dont understand the magnitude of this problem in China. did you see the related story, "One Tenth of China's Farmland Polluted With Heavy Metals"? now sit down and shut up.

As far as I know, Israel's leaders are doing pretty good by their people. Israel is in the Middle East, right?

When they started detecting distance.
stereoscopic cameras have been able to do this for quite some time and more accurately. it's still just a camera.
when did cameras become classified as "Kinect Sensors"?
i can tell you right now that they have gotten a patent on this already and probably for recognizing everything from socks to shirts to hair styles.
gee, i wonder where they got the idea? http://www.sparkfun.com/categories/135
i've recently been informed there is a "hole in the bottom of the sea" which i'm sure needs to be filled somehow.
TURN OFF YOUR DAMN PHONES! seriously, it wasnt so long ago that people could only answer the phone from within their homes.
frankly, i find it rude when people are chatting in a store or walking blindly into people because they are smsing.
The Android operating system doesn't just lack an integrated IPsec VPN client

how many corners are going to be cut while making these datacenters?
there is a serious cultural problem in China where people think that cheating people and cutting corners is ok.
