The much bigger issue is paywalls. Lets not submit them anymore or link to them, mkay?

Further proof that the Firehose doesn't really work, people click based on (at most) the titles, without actually reading anything. If we can't fix the Firehose, at least/. could have a 'no paywalled stories' policy.
cases where someone legally ripped a CD they owned and then managed to lose their CD? Are those bits legal or illegal?
Those bits are illegal, you dirty, filthy pirate!
In all seriousness, there was a story on this a couple years ago & while the law is insane, the files would be illegal. Oh, and the guy that stole the CD would face less punishment if you were both punished. Again, insane.
Bah, I find my right index finger works well on all keys. I've seen people feel all high and mighty because they use both index fingers, but I find 1 to be good enough for me. Whew, after typing all that, I need to take a break!
Anyone that can't afford a $600 toy & needs a 13% loan to buy it should rethink their finances and/or their 'need' for said toy.
Please don't read this as directed at you, more a condemnation of our consumeristic culture where people making a multiple of what I support my family of 5 on still can't make ends meet.
Well, the $80 is for 2000 minutes, not 300, so there's that, and they never claimed to be a 'cell phone plan that works like [a] calling card' but are closer to one than anyone else is in the US (I have investigated every MVNO registered in the US). I agree that it would be useful, but I suspect that if there was enough (actual) demand for a line like that, there would be a plan for it.
I'm with you, I would prefer what you describe; my PP dealer will let me put the $10 on 'auto-pay' but the 'auto' part is only automatic for me, he actually has to do it manually 3x/yr, so he charges a $2 fee. Still, $36/yr billed automatically at $12 every 120 days is awfully close to what you/I want (except the minutes do expire after 365 days, so on this plan, you would have a maximum of 300 minutes at any given time), I'll send you his contact info if you want it.
Sorry for the dupe post, but I don't know if you'll go back to look - I replied to Hatta - Page Plus is the cheapest MVNO out there from a purely $/mo perspective - I pay $2.50/mo (that's literally it, no taxes, etc) for a line for my daughter. Scroll up for more details:)
$10/4 months/100 minutes Gotta remember to pay the $10 3 times a year, but close to what you want.
I have used it for my 9 year old daughter's line since she turned 8, it's perfect for emergency use & minutes roll-over, so when she actually starts to use the phone more often, she'll have minutes banked.
Service is VZW, I use the $80/yr plan & am on track to get a whole year out of it (2000 minutes, I use voip when on wifi). I can recommend a dealer if anyone wants, he has taken really good care of me.
Thanks for sharing that, my brother is 4 years older than me too & in many ways leads a much more difficult life than I do, so it hit kinda close to home. He is actually a good example of someone who can't simply quit and move, even though he would surely be better off financially if he was to do so. He its the eldest and of the old school of this meaning he is responsible for caring for his elders & won't move until those he feels responsibility for have passed. There are so many different circumstances that it is naive to believe one person's experiences can be applied to another's.
Thank you, was reading the entire thread before doing so, but was about to make the very same comment. I am sick to death of successful people suggesting that all you have to do is exactly what they did to be successful.
It's not that I'm a failure, I am quite content with life at the moment, but I have had enough life experiences to know better than to think that friends of mine that struggle more than I do are just lazy or stupid. We all have our own burdens and situations and not everyone will be in a better position if they quit a horrible job.
So where is the line in the sand? It's ok to mute commercials and go get a bite to eat, but using a DVR to skip is stealing? Skipping w/ DVR is no different than adblock.
I know my nerd card is in jeopardy, but I thought the formula for transparent aluminum was the payment for the thick Plexiglas they actually used. Anyone remember/feel like Googling?
Considering the job creation is only a side-affect (and a positive one at that), why on earth would they not mention it? I have personally benefited from SNAP & think it's terrific if there are beneficial side-affects, because the main affect means the difference between eating and eating healthily for many children (including my own for a brief period). Does everyone that receives SNAP spend wisely? No, but many do and it's value is is often underestimated by those fortunate enough to never need it.
Greens are horrible for RAID (has to do with the way the spin differently, making them green makes them bad for RAID - WD does not recommend Green as RAID), but I have owned many and never had a failure as a single drive. For RAID, buy Reds.

If you buy Season 8 of BB, you need to demand a refund.

Do you ever go to the bathroom during the commercials of a TV show? Because, you know, that's dodgy at best & could be considered theft.
Not a stick, but ...

It was a tort when the wealthy did it, it's a crime now that the common man can do it.
When convenient, simple IEDs get declared WMD, ironically by the same people that say (rightfully) that GWB lied about Iraq having WMDs.

It is convenient for some to call this OSX malware, it's called hyperbole and it's disgusting whoever uses it to fearmonger.

and consider that the draft (while highly unlikely) is still on the books.
In the worst-case-scenario, are there any countries that wouldn't draft? Granted, they may not draft for foreign wars, but if invaded ...
