At least our students don't (support for a distance learning college better left nameless). You tell them it's www.[nameless].edu and they seem to 60% of the time insist on adding a.com after the.edu and then complain that the site sucks, there is always an error.
It was kinda a silly example, but how about a news crew, reporting on location (outside) & some yahoo drives by with the car stereo cranked. Just because his specific example wasn't something many of us are apt to encounter, doesn't mean the concept was invalid.
wow. What a time to be without mod points, this is the only new interpretation I have heard in quite some time.
I am sure I am not the only one for whom the debate gets old when both camps have but 2 or 3 arguments, bravo to you sir for introducing (at least to me) another perspective. I would like to ask all who do join the argument to take notice and attempt to do the same.
Sheesh. If they're poor, what am I? I make just under 28,000/yr (USD). My TV is a 25" and over about 6-8 years old. Oh, and my wife and I have 2 kids.
Money doesn't make you rich, perceived lack thereof makes you poor. I know many people with far more money than I that complain about money far more than I. If you can afford to put food on the table, a roof over your head and not live in fear for your life, health or well-being, it is hard to justify a claim of 'poor'.
No, I'm not the guy who sold his house and cars to live poor on purpose, we're just a young family starting out. A big problem, especially here in the States, seems to be that if you are not able to consume everything your heart desires that you are poor and living without. If that describes you, I strongly suggest you spend some time determining what really makes you happy and focus on that.
Sorry for the rant, but those of us that live a bit below the 'living wage' (here in Utah I'd have to make a few thousand more a year to be at it) are tired of hearing about how people that make a multiple of what we do are 'poor.':)
Gil Grissom may be the only character in TV history who actually behaves more-or-less like a real scientist. When I read this, I immediately thought that X-Files did a more realistic job, ironic given the subject matter.
My plan for some time has been to tap into water that is always cool: the water in the toilet tank. Now, I said tank, not bowl, so it should be very clean. Assuming you flush regularly, the water will always be cool.
Like so many projects (My Myth TV Box...) I haven't gotten around to it, anyone else try such a thing?
Here in the states, the Salt Lake valley of Utah has these on I-15. I've never/noticed/ them tell me to slow down, but they often give predicted times to different points ahead (indicating traffic congestion) - especially when headed toward downtown Salt Lake City.
Reminds me of running a personal BBS with LORD back in the day... games can be fun with only a dozen or so players & if fun (and if the players have friends) it will grow.
As a parent of young children, I would like to suggest simply stopping minting coins that are a loss to mint (penny, nickel) as opposed to stopping minting & collecting and melting them. Kids under the age of three love pennies (not under 18mos, though, choking hazards are bad) and they make great bribes for good behaviour.
That, and I don't want the coins my daughter likes to toss into fountains to really be able to add up to something (a handful of dimes / quarters adds up fast!).
But at ~$700 (cited above) for ~800GB... I can get 3 320GB HDDs for $300, a second set & we're talking two copies of everything for still $100 less. Add 3 external cases & toss 3 HDDs in a safe deposit box for alternate physical location and still spend less. HDDs are a lot cheaper & a heck of a lot faster than carousels of DVDs.
That said, I personally use Verbatim DVD+R for backup, about 1-1.5TB currently (not including movies, etc) prolly cost me about $125. Not "always on," but like it's a hassle to grab a binder off a shelf when I need it.
Sheesh, and they make fun of his English!

Oh, well.
Two words: Jack Bauer.
Sheesh, I gave up a mod point for this?!?
Of course it was a dupe, *all* stories on /. are dupes.
:)
They are either duping a story they have already done, or a story they plan to do.

Actually, not beer, but Guinness.
Guinness is not for beer drinkers; beer is not for Guinness drinkers.
mmmmmm Guinness. It's been a long time, old friend.

Appreciatively,
As long as the movie takes place on a plane.
There's not enough movies with snakes on airplanes.
Commies are so 1957.
Today he is a terrorist. Or at least helping the terrorists win.
This is why the Nietzscheans will kick our a** in 9786 CY.

I read that you read the article and thought WTF. ;)
Tattooed twice, once forward for others, once backwards as a reminder to the individual when (s)he looks in the mirror.
Was the guy with the record store posting back then?

Is he filming it for safety too?
You are quite correct, most of my HD rips look better than the DVDs (to me, anyway). Unfortunately, most Sci-Fi rips look far worse.
I suspect they do not broadcast in HD, my newest TV is 7 years old and I do not get Sci-Fi, so I'm afraid I do not know.
Direct to DVD sounds like a good idea, especially if Red Box decides to carry it.
Yep, my wife and I spent a combined $35 on each other this year.
Yes, I know this is OT. Feel free to mod accordingly.
Thank goodness I don't currently have mod points. My head would explode deciding funny or insightful ...

I can see it appealing to some people.

Just my two dimes.

YMMV
Unless we run windows, then 16GB of RAM will be the minimum and we'll still need a 40GB swap.
