Couldn't you just see the pitch on that one. TV Exec 1: "We take this planet, wipe off the indigenous reptilian life. Seed it with these agressive mammals and watch the hilarity ensue." Later on it would be: "This season we are gonna crash a ship into the planet with some fake bodies and then we will skim low in some ships just to make them nervous."

I have to agree. Having lived in a remote area with no public transportation without a car employment is near on impossible. what i think needs to happen in those kind of cases is a severe overhaul of insurance rates. however I do believe that in most major cities where public transportation is easily available a car is not needed at all.

The worries you list are really just the result of a lack of education with guns. I grew up around guns, my father is an avid collector. I was taught at an early age what a gun was, how to use it and how to respect it. I dont like guns myself, I never felt the need for one. I do however think that gun safty should be a required course in schools. Guns are nothing more then tools, dangerous tools, but no more dangerous then a chain saw or a drill. As long as the person handling them is trained in their use and takes the proper precausions there is minimal chance of an accident.

My local grocery already has this. they have hand held scanners that you check out with your discount card and you carry arround with you so you can total your order as you go and then transfer it into the self check out. all thats left is for you to bag your stuff and get out. But the hand scanner has a nice large screen that flashes adds for things depending on what you have scanned, what you have previously purchased, and where you are in the store.

I have to say My high school had a decent program to deal with this situation. It was a large high school that also had a diverse Vocational school program. Students could take high level college prep courses or take vocational courses in things like Forestry, Mechanics, or even cooking. Many students choose to take vocational and college prep courses. I think it is ok to give students the option to select a major, making a it a requirement will only hurt them in the end. Kids need the freedom to change their minds. Making sure they have a good foundation for any career path is essential.
