  1. What about how well XP is doing ? on Ballmer Says Vista Selling Really Well · · Score: 1

I'm sick of hearing about Vista and OSX. Vista I could care less about. OSX and it's creepy pc vs mac ads are doing my head in ! To even suggest that you need a Mac to be young and hip is retarded. Also portraying the Mac to be the center of multimedia is total crap and leads to the misinformed vision that you need a mac to make music or play with video. XP ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!! or should I say XP IS ROCK STABLE !!!!!!!!!!!! With a world of software at your fingertips.

My PC is wiping it's ass with all the 'next gen' consoles. Crysis is fucking awesome and makes the consoles look like toys. OK, so you need a $200 Geforce 8800, it's still a cheaper upgrade for anyone who has a pc than buying a $500 PS3. Sure not every pc can play the latest games, but that is the genius of the pc market, there are pc's for all functions and prices. It's the console market that is dead. Since the horrible Wii is the 'winner', a rehashed last gen gimmicky piece of crap.

Seeing how absolutely amazing my 8800GT nvidia card is in Crysis and Gears of War, the bottleneck is the 3d software like max and maya, not the card. 3d animation software is definitely laging behind games. But Nvidia's recent purchase of mental ray might change that... I hope... I think the difference between a pro card and a high end gaming card is minimal. It would be great to see comparative benchmarks though.

I did absorb your comments but I found them vacuous and incorrect. "hype machine is always driven by the press and word of mouth" you are so deluded, Apples hype machine runs off a multi million dollar account with Shiat-day, who built an entire building to house just one advertising account, plus millions of dollars of tv and street advertising all over the world. "and they really don't want the RIAA driven DRM" yeah, they 'really don't want it' they cry every night over it, that is why any music player can interface with itunes, and itunes allows you to freely swap songs back and forth with friends as you please. BULLSHIT. They have monopolized online music sales, and only allow their player to interface with itunes ! "They've kept prices low for the consumer" are you joking ? How come their machines are the most expensive usually by 50% ? They are also helping to completely destroy normal music retail, further increase there monopoly over the industry. end of line.

Yes, Apple was ahead of the curve. But to say there is no competition is naive. Apple has a monopoly, pure and simple. This is anti-competitive and has lead to the spread of drm and the incorrect notion that the ipod is 'the best'. Any usb stick with a headphone jack is capable of the same music performance as an ipod. But most housewives and teenage girls are too blinded by the apple hype machine to notice.

The US is not the last super power. China and Russia are still huge, with massive armies, economies, population and natural resources, not to mention up and coming India. The problem isn't a lack of protest in the US. It's the lack of coverage of said protests in the media. YOU CANNOT HAVE A FREE DEMOCRACY WITHOUT A FREE AND FUNCTIONING MEDIA. The media has undisputably sold it's soul to the corporations and is no longer free or unbiased.

I agree with a lot of what you have written. But it is only part of the picture. You assume all this chaos and hatred has somehow been accidental and a knock-on effect. It isn't and hasn't. It is the result of a sustained effort by various empires (namely the US). The US has consistently entered a country and separated it into 2 regions or clans or whatever and then armed them both, before raping that region of everything. Divide and conquer. Over and over again. Guns and ammunition don't build themselves. It takes investment, planning and expertise to arm an army, and a constant input of ammunition and money. The fact is most people are kept oblivious to this because the truth is so repugnant.

OK. Vista is dead in the water. But how about refining some of the Vista interface niceties into a light XP upgrade. Just a few interface improvements, no under the hood stuff. Refresh the franchise a bit. I mean, it'd probably only take a team of 3-5 people to transfer some widgets, revamp windows.exe with some gloss and bevels, or just add some nice 'dock' features like stardock. Probably adding less than 1% cpu usage. That would do A LOT to improve Microsoft's image to the XP world, and probably placate the osx loving housewives out there.
