It's going to be interesting to see the Slashdot comments on this one. IIRC, Egypt has a secular government, but the Muslims there would like it to be a religious one.
Sometimes I need a quick answer and can find it on the internet. But sometimes I want in-depth information on a subject and I'll go to a book.
And the web doesn't always work. Sometimes the first three hits on Google are people asking the same question and not getting any answers. (Stackoverflow's helping with this, but it's not there yet.)
Plus, I don't want to stare at a screen all the time.
It's not about how much it costs. It's about who's paying for it. It seems that several people connected with the recent government bailouts have made large contributions.
1. Buy old computer peripheral SIB (Still in box) 2. Document opening and usage 3. Place on website w/ ads and promote 4. Get Slashdotted so that works still appear but pictures (and ads!) don't 5. 6. Profit
Dr. Dobb's has been good lately, but for a while there they weren't. I think that's the problem -- they lost readership due to lack of good material -- and never got it back.
I think it's great what they've done for the kids. But I think part of the problem is that the comics themselves aren't exactly kid-friendly. It's like they go out of their way to include the F word in every strip.
Wow. I knew there was a lot of buzz about the new Blackberry , but I didn't think it'd be enough to move all of AT&T's Midwest customers to Verizon.:-)
What if you're downloading it on one computer to install on another?
Releasing bugs from a lab into a room full of rich people. He must have been trying to create some kind of Spiderman/Batman hybrid. Genius!

Actually, it is. We've talked them into holding back several times.
Phone rings.
John Doe: Hello
Pew: Hi. I'm calling to ask if you'd like broadband.
John: What? A broad with a band?
Pew: No, sir. Internet access.
John: Enter knits? What are you taking about?
Pew: Broadband internet access.
John: A band made up of broads who knit?
Sending that money to Israel also gives us influence with them...influence to encourage them to not do certain things...
"and when the final episode airs, television will never be the same again"
Yeap. It'll be all digital.
I too prefer books.

1. I thought everyone loved Obama?
2. Why would you release these photos? Wouldn't you want to keep the security secret?

"Twitter has doubled its capacity"
Why haven't they done it before now?
I've bought several games, console and PC, based on demos.
I didn't vote for Obama you insensitive clod!
"The Office of the President Elect" .. what the ?
What happens when they look at the source code and find no problems?
What about the people who would rather write in C instead of C++?
I'm just glad that Steve Job's introduced the Mac Wheel before he left.

How about making it so that the people who contribute can see an ad-free version while everyone else sees ads?
"Broadband is cheap." is true. But don't forget:
Broadband is not available everywhere.

What? The Federal government shouldn't be involved in education. That's the responsibility of the state and local government.
Condolences to his family and friends. No matter what you think of someone's politics, its always sad when someone dies.
