    Say what you will about MythTV, but I _like_ the commericals that TiVo automatically downloads for me. I got to see the new Mustang commerical before it aired on regular tv. Maybe it's because they tend to have better commericals.

    Why is everyone here so Anti-VB 6? VB 6 is great at what it is designed for: RAD -- Rapaid Application Development. There's no other language where you can throw together a quick and dirty Windows program so easily.

    I think one of the problems is that VB.net can only target the .Net platform. I think VB 6 programmers want an object oriented language. They just don't want to be limited to .Net

    You know, it would be interesting if Google where a record company. CD prices could be related to the number of searches for that artist!

    I can see a company that makes enterprise level software making money off the support. But what about the programs you buy at WalMart for $29.99? How could you open source a program like that and make money off it?

    I'm not trolling. I'm really interested in the answer.

    (And I'm not anti-open source. I've got ideas for several programs that I'll release under the GPL if I ever get around to writting them :-)

    and they're starting to have success with automatic clustering of concepts, so that pages can match even if none of the words in your query actually appear on the page

    So that's why I can search on the result page for my orginally query and find nothing. And all this time I was blaming Internet Explorer!

    I know of a manager who told all his employees to automatically add the extended warrantly to things they bought. Then if the customer complained, take them off.

    Does any one else see Longhorn as the chance to move a lot of people away from Windows? Linux and Mac are both making inroads. With Longhorn's delay, and its DRM and required activation, it might be a time for the general public to rethink their relationship with Microsoft. This could be the big chance to move in a different direction.

    Yes, but they (or something else) have stopped cable companies from creating DVRs that are as good as TiVo.

    I agree. The arguement that I've heard is that the publishers update the book with new material every year. But I just had to pay $130 for a management book. It was written in 1999 and mentions Netscape 2.0!
