Most region 1 DVDs include a french audio track, but not spanish.I know many spanish speaking people, but only one french speaker. I guess we can blame Canada. But in the USA a spanish audio track would be wanted by more people.
Well of course the future is scary. Have you ever seen a sci-fi movie without strife and mayhem? Stop progress now! Robots and clones and pirates, oh my!
You obviously have not seen the Wrath Of Khan Directors Cut DVD. It has several very good specials on the making of the movie. I assume the Original Motion Picture Special Edition has some good extras as well (since it comes on two discs.)Granted, the original releases leave much to be desired, but Paramount is correcting that problem. So maybe there will be some goodies on the DVD eventually.
"I'm not a global warming person or anything, but if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, then you've got an agenda of your own if you won't admit that we've got a duck."
You had me up until this point. You are infering that contrails lead to global warming. The article says that the scientists are not sure if the absence of contrails lower the low or raise the high daily temperature. The presence of contrails moderates the temperature variance. So you are correct by saying this study shows that humans affect the weather, but the study does not say that humans cause global warming. That may very well be true, but science must be careful to draw inferences from the observations and not go beyond them.
I recently built a computer for someone else that didn't have internet access. I Installed (legally) several pieces of software. I realized what a pain it is to do. Several of the programs (one of which was MS Office) would not even function until you registered it. That means register it on the internet or wait several days for a registration number.
The problem I have with programs like OpenGX (and MS Office) is that they are part of a trend toward forcing users to have internet access on every computer they use in order to use software that has nothing to do with the internet.
The internet used to be a way for the user to be connected with the world. Now, it is becoming a way for the world to keep an eye on you.
OT: Yeah, most movies make you watch the FBI/Interpol warnings (why Interpol when the movies are region encoded?) But I LOVE the Simpsons DVD's, not only for great viewing material, but they also let you skip the warnings. Thank you Homer, er... Matt.
OK, but isn't this sort of like putting a loincloth on David, or covering up Venus's breasts?
No. Maybe if you are talking about a "picture" of David or Venus. But, if I were to crop a picture or photoshop a picture of Venus to hang on my wall there would be little public outrage (nor do I think Michaelangelo would roll in his grave.) Your analogy is more like a movie studio editing out "offensive" parts (i.e. for television) which happens all the time with no outrage.
If i want a text version of Huck Finn on my computer that has all the words "nigger" changed to "n****", then that is my business.
"This ain't Shakespeare, folks."
Even if it was Shakespeare, The Bard made many changes to his plays after they were performed on stage for the first time.(Though Lucas has a long way to go to match the writing of Shakespeare.)
I have to disagree that the "only" reason is the harm it does to a child. Take, for instance, an example of someone taking your picture and manipulating it to show you having homosexual, bestial or child sex. IANAL, but defamation is the word that comes to mind. Your consent was not sought. Children are cannot consent, by law. There are other instances of harm than physical.

I wish you guys would put up spoiler warnings when you post reviews of movies. I haven't seen Minority Report yet. Uh, what? I'm sorry, I thought...

If you are going to count 21 years since DOS 1.0 at least end on their most current OS XP.

The DGA is a little off base in my opinion.
I agree with you up to a point. I first read the story on MSNBC, so some of the more "mainstream" media outlets are also picking this up.
/. we can pick the story apart and make a few wisecracks.
At least here on
Actually Freon is a project code name. The box may never make it to market, and if it does it will have a different name.
