If I understand correctly, the event was unavoidable, so this part of the storyline is indeed linear.
This event was avoidable, however it depended on the order you did the previous missions... so if you did the stuff in the wrong order you would have to load a save game that was a couple of hours old to "fix" it.
The way I see it, it’s not "avoidable" in the same game, however with another character it could be.
What the heck are you talking about? I played Dragon Age on normal, and it was still a stiff challenge (and I'm not a newbie to RPGs here), and at times was balls-to-the-walls hard. The hardest parts of the game were still fairly tough even on easy. Unless you played the "special more-easy" version of Dragon Age, I'm going to go ahead and say that your sense of difficulty is completely out of whack.
It mostly depends on the class you played since they were completely unbalanced. My first play through was on hard with a warrior and it was reasonably challenging (especially because it took me a while to get Wynne). However my second play through was on nightmare with a mage and it was ridiculously easy, I must have played 20 hours before dying and it was only because I did something stupid. And that was after the Cone of Cold nerf.
Agreed, the game felt slow and I didn't feel like I was in control. This was on the PC, for what I've heard the choppy gameplay was also due to it being a bad console port (what else is new?).
It's the worst console port I've ever seen. I had to use 3 3rd party applications to even make the game somewhat playable.
You can't remap most of the keys with the UI or config files, so I had to use GlovePIE because I don't like to play on WASD.
You can't choose the level of Anti-aliasing and when it's "on" it can't be more than 2x, so I had to override the value using Catalyst.
But worst of all... the game is unplayable with V-Sync on for some reason (everything is choppy, even in the menus) but when you turn it off there is also another bug that makes mouse speed dependent on your frame per seconds. The faster it runs the slower your mouse is, I basically had to drag my mouse across my desk twice to do a 360. So I ended up using a tool from RivaTuner to enable V-Sync in Direct X while its disabled in the game.
That made the game somewhat playable but there was still a small dead band for the mouse (meaning you had to drag the mouse the equivalent of a few pixels before it registered it) that made precision shots a pain to do.
I'm sure I missed out a great game, but since even after all those effort the controls were still awful compared to any other FPS straight out of the box, I played for maybe 1 hour and never touched it again.
Here's how it really works : no one (on PC) buys single player games, they only buy multiplayer games
I disagree, maybe people don't buy single player FPS but I'm pretty sure games like Dragon Age, Torchlight, the Witcher, etc. sold pretty well and they have no multiplayer.
Anyway... playing multiplayer illegally on Left 4 Dead or Modern Warfare 1 was not that harder than playing single player.
Reality piracy != sale. All of those people who crack / share cd keys are not going to go ahead a buy a copy of the game. Especially if it is crippled so only pirates can mod / play on outside servers.
Exactly. I'm sure a lot of them would have bought the game if they couldn't have downloaded it but definitely not all of them. A good part wouldn't have bought it anyway, some probably bought it on console and then downloaded it to play with buddies (I guess that brings a new question... should someone pay (full price) twice to play on different platform?) and in some (rare?) case some people downloaded the game and then decided to buy it.
I know that was the case for me, I "pirated" COD4... I was impressed with the single player and had a blast in a LAN party, shortly after I paid for copy. I would NEVER have bought what I though was "Yet Another Insipid War Shooter" otherwise.
Back on topic, I was going to buy MW2 the day it was out... now I'm on the fence. I'll wait and see.
It was definitely one of the most addictive games I have ever played. You really needed to work with your teammates to win a territory by bringing the right type of units in the field and supporting each others. The unit customization was also really good, you could go as far as removing all weapons from a tank to place even more armor so you could POC under heavy fire. All the supports type were awesome too: radar jammer, cloaks, infiltrator (you take the color of your enemy), scans, mines, etc.
This is true, actually. I believe the first two guitar hero games came with bonus tracks from some of the developers themselves (I couldn't reliably name names, but I think "Freezepop" was one of them) and they were just as fun to play (if not more) as the rest of the songs on the game.
You clearly never played the bonus "song" made by one of Rock Band 2 artist.
It's called Visions and IMO should never have been part of the default songs. As a free DLC maybe, but not something you need to play to complete the last sets.
It's a Quadro, not the kind of card you buy to play Crysis on. It's meant for workstations or server farms.

It's probably not because it's not powerful enough but because it doesn't implement certain needed features (Shaders probably). By curiosity, what's your video card?

But it works on my machine!
Politicians shooting lawyers? I don't really see the downside.

Another solution is to create multiple Hamachi networks and make the host join all of them. Works great.
It works pretty well for games though. Like: "Doom 3 was much darker than it's predecessor."
But I preferred diablo. So where's Diablo 3? Wasn't it announced first? Wasn't it started first?.
Nope, Starcraft 2 was announced in 2007 and Diablo 3 in 2008.

You could impale yourself on the pen. Attempted suicide is illegal in some places.
Which is completely ridiculous as well. If anything this reinforce HungryHobo's point.
Speaking of Pocahontas:

Occasionally, they'll revisit a story they've already created, such as with FFX-2
I'm pretty sure that game never existed ... just like they never did any sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics.

Same here, not to mention the 60$ price tag. Another victim of consolization.
Or maybe include another computer as a dedicated server for MW2.
I saw what you did there.
Well I already own the game (on Steam) but I just "bought" it again just to support the pricing model.

Pffft that's easy to do =P
Probably, I got them via Amazon.ca and didn't really check which edition it was =)
Too bad... I can't wait to get the next book.
Which one? I've had Blood of Elves and The Last Wish for a while and I though the next one, Times of Contempt, would only be released in Octobre?

1. How are you going to know if you're hallucinating? Unless you are always asking someone, you'll never know for sure.
You also have to figure out if you are not hallucinating the person you are asking.

Try not to say that to her in those words ...
