well you say we are at war... but I remember the war ending
Besides, you seem to have little understanding about the nature of terrorism. In my country (the UK) we've had quite a bit of terrorism over the last thousand years... only one round of deadly attacks have been carried out by non-whites. Thousands of people have been killed by white people in the PIRA (who have also tried to kill the prime minister - and were nearly successful) as well as killing from the UDA/UVF/Real IRA/old IRA. Not to mention that but Guy Fawkes was white - he tried to kill all the members of the House of Lords and the king...
Are you seeing a pattern here.
One attack by non-whites does not mean that they are all terrorists. The evidence says that you should, if anything, be stopping white people.
...I know people like to think that it's now so much more secure; but if you don't "look like a terrorist" (which usually means of middle eastern origin) you can get through pretty quick. I went from England to holland and never had to show anything but the colour of my passport (which is bugandy - the English colour) and the fact that I am white and middle class. That was all they cared about. I know a lot of people won't like that the world sometimes works like this (I don't), and I'm expecting people won't want to hear it either...
well, I know that I made the joke but I'm not really an anti-MS zealot. I do use linux far more than windows that remains really just because my girlfriend likes it...:S.
I don't think that linux is just less of a target because it has less users; it is more secure because you hardly ever run as super-user.
For me on my system windows is over 30 seconds slower to load up
The safety cannot be said to be good just because the only reason that it is insecure is because it is visable (although I disagree) the safety is bound up with all aspects that affect it and cannot be deviod from that
I know that it is possible to use windows in a secure way and be safe (I've only ever had one virus since I moved from 98 to XP) but for me Linux is just better in this area
MS got it wrong... "Windows 98 is so broken that it's crazy to be running it on today's Internet" For some reason this contains a "98" which came out of nowhere. It should read
"Windows is so broken that it's crazy to be running it on today's Internet"
I agree with you partly... I think what they were trying to say is that these people are frustrated and feel like they are doing something as a matter of it being "right" in a moral sense... don't get me wrong I think that they could have used a far better example, maybe something like the stylised pirates of old... you know; people who aren't associated with murder
(I know pirates did that - and still do - but the image now is closer to pirates of the carribean)
that's a good point; although I'm going to pull you up on the "If you make it too difficult to watch a movie or listen to a music, people won't buy it." bit... It is already far too hard just to play DVDs that you own; you have to jump through hoops like watching "you shouldn't copy this" etc. and then on Fedora because of the copy protection it won't play strait off (you need an update from livna). And the copy protection means that I can't use my RIGHT to hold a copy of the material I have bought... which meant that when I lost one of my Futurama DVDs all I could do legally is buy another... they don't deserve to have any customers.
I'm not so much saying that it was justified to hide it from the ESRB... I'm just saying that whether or not the ESRB knew or not is completely irrelevent because of the content already in the game. Besides the Hot Coffee thing wasn't "in the game"... it was like "if you alter the way the programe works then you can get to something you were never meant to..."
Don't get me wrong, not deleting it is rather sloppy work from the programmers - not getting rid of code that doesn't go anywhere - but for the most part it does seem to be standard practice...
"Given the fact that most students in the country comprise of the 0-18 age-group"
I thought collage was like uni... wouldn't that mean that people would go at 18 and be there untill 21? Also, because they can't legally drink then the "ooh... beer" thing wouldn't be there. besides did they ask if I would rather have one beer or an iPod (because I'd take the iPod) or was it whether you could never have one... because then I'd have to protect the beer...
Well, I say I'd take the beer; it didn't say which beer. Now if it was a nice pint of Old Perculier... that I could go for
he probably just sumbits a lot, and there doesn't seem to be an upper limit on it. You are free to send in a thousand stories in one day if you want... I bet at least 5 would get posted. Also you can hang out on a popular tech site, keep pressing F5 untill a new story comes up and be the first to submit it... that'd work
I might not know a lot about these online games, but I have been playing games for years and I know how the politics of it works... I assumed that it would probably work the same way (which you claim it not to, although I have no proof either way)... but knowing what I thought at the time I belived that this was a good thing...
Anyway, you don't seem to get how the comment system works, it isn't only limited to people who make comments because they have a large amount of knowledge about a topic - sometimes people have an idea, dispite not knowing a lot about a topic, and then post their idea... then people can either confirm it or refute it... it's like a collective debate to make people learn.
...My mum's husband works for BT as some kind of manager/organiser; he was telling me that they had been at a team meeting about a year ago where they were looking at replacing the current phone system with ultra high band VOIP. They were also taking about putting television content down the line as well... I don't know when they were thinking of trying to get this sytem out but it sounded interesting
I really loved the bit about "parents have the right to rely on the accuracy of the entertainment rating system"... yep, I can see it now...
"yeah, son, you can play this game where you have to sell drugs, have sex with prostitutes, murder policemen and steal their cars... it's all ok; just so long as there is no unrealistic computer simulated sex in it"
Why did anyone care about this. Not only was it not in the main game it was by far the least offensive thing in the list I just mentioned... I'd rather my children had sex than killed policemen
this isn't a troll and I'm not an American but is the net neutrality a good thing? does it mean that they can't srcew people over... or is this one of those things where the name of the bill is actually the opposite of what it will do
What side should I support... even though I can do nothing about it
I don't know a lot about these online games but from what I understand on WoW you get people who don't have a lot of experience and no one wants to play with them which makes it more difficult for them to get any experience... and it goes on... so this sounds good. It also stops the problem of having to decide who gets what when you finish the level
well you just kind of disproved your own point there because, as you say, you always take the smaller one with you. If people want to have a powerful computer and a portable one; get two seperate computers - a desktop and a 12" laptop. If you want to connect them then use a cross over cable.
The only way this could be useful if for LAN parties (as you mentioned) - which are pretty rare anyway - and not enough of a reason not to buy a desktop which you can upgrade
In a nutshell, Episode One is Half-Life 2 all over again. Perhaps because of its short duration (only about five hours or so)
Five hours of gaming for $20... I must admit my reaction has been tempered now I think that $20 is like £14... but that is still a lot for 5 hours. If I buy a game for that much I would want a lot more than 5 hours of play; maybe I'm just tight. I've bought games in the past for less than this (infact I actually got a copy of Metriod Prime 2 free from nintendo) and they have given me easily over 20 hours and counting.
this is actually quite a discovery; it's one of these things which has been hanging around for over a hundred years and it's good to finally have a proof... it's a little like proving P=NP... but a little less grand
great stuff. if you write the Wiki you can link to it and then get modded up +5 (by virute of having a link in the post)... we really do need a law; and I really need it to be in my name (I don't know why...)
I think it is true (and good). The only doubts I would have is about them stealing credit card information (last time I looked the paypal option had gone - might be back now. It is perfectly legal for them to do; so they should if they can make money from it. This will strengthen the anti-drm calls because it shows that we are prepared to pay for music if it doesn't have DRM and if it is fairly priced. I would say people who are paying 1 dollar for a song with DRM are the ones who are supporting it.

well, mp3 is outdated. Ogg should be the future, and then flac... I do however agree with you, the future is dark and DRM filled...
I agree with you partly... did you check out the price of this thing? £1699 for that I'd want a whole new body when mine broke from carrying it around...

I can hook you up... for a price... shall we say... $25?
