The the question one must ask then is what cultures you find inferior, and what do you mean by inferior? The problem with this line of thinking is that it's hypocrical at it's core. If one considers a culture inferior that tends to imply that theirs is superior. Who decides that theirs is suprior? If someone claims that your superior culture is inferior do you gladly accept that or do uou call bullshit on it? If history is any indication your answer is irrelavent.

  2. Sony Xperia Play on NVIDIA Updates SHIELD With Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, Console Mode, New Titles · · Score: 1

The Shield reminds me of the Xperia Play that I bought almost 3 years ago. I thought that it was going to be the start of real mobile phone gaming, but sony treated it a a stepchild. The hardware was mediocre at best, and the screen was the worst kind of LCD. But it was a convenient machine. I really hoped to see either a Play 2, or another company tackle the a gameing phone.

  3. Ad tracking is fundamentally flawed on When Opting Out of Ad Tracking Doesn't Opt You Out · · Score: 2

Ad tracking a little flawed because it seems to be based on the idea you might want to purchase some that you type in a search bar. Going by my own search history 5%, maybe less, of my searches has anything to do with trying to buy something. Most of the time I'm just farting around doing what amounts mindless channel surfing. I imaging most people are generally the same, spending a small about of time researching products, and most of the time looking for everything else.

If I was that passer-by I would turn the question back at him. I would ask the camera man what shoplifting has he prevented? What robber has he identified? The camera man might be able to do those things, only if he were hidden. But let's see him catch a robber while standing right next to him, with a gun. I would like to see footage of that.

This little piece of gaming trivia only seem to get barely mention when you read articles about the early history of Metal Gear, but there was a computer/console called MSX and Japan and a few other places. It was Microsoft's (of Japan) attempt to pull a 3DO before 3DO did. Apparently it was successful everywhere but the US. Sony was one of the companies that made a system that ran the OS.

I bet they decided to put their big brains, to use, their only real advantage over both their predators and prey. You know the very thing that made us human. We probably would have be great at hunting and killing prey with our bare hands if we didn't bother inventing sharp spears and shaping rocks into arrowheads. You know changing the world to suit us.

If I, as Joe Facebook, was to put my money where my mouth is, where would I even go to pay. How much would it cost per month, $5, $10, $50? How many people like that would it take to make it worthwhile?

  12. Robocop/Terminator Vision on Electronic Contact Lens Displays Pixels On the Eye · · Score: 3, Insightful

Yes I know it's all fiction and all that, but I always seem to imagine the whole "Robocop/Terminator" vision thing as taking place inside their brain rather than on the surface of their eyes. Something like video gen-lock that takes the video feed and overlays text on top, bypassing the whole focusing issue. I remember trying to visualize what how that would work in a pair of glasses, so I put my cellphone right up to my eye while trying to keep the screen in focus. I could, sort of painfully. Then I also realized that I would need to focus on the everything else. I would have to focus on something very close and far away, at the same time. I would like to know how they accomplished this.

I admit the speedpad is a bit janky, especially the thumbwheel, which I have mapped to zooming in and out. But for how I use it its not too bad. I can imagine if you are using it for an FPS or an RPG you would want it to deal with rapid and precise key presses. For me, as long I press a key and it works I'm good. With that said, I would don't mind a smother thumbwheel and a trackpad for panning images.

  15. No Free Hands on USB Foot Controls · · Score: 2

I considered getting something like this for my digital art setup. Right now i have an old tabletpc with a nostromo speedpad 51n. In my right hand holds a stylus and my left is on the speedpad. The idea is that I never have to touch the toolbar or the menu with the hand that i draw with. It's very liberating to switch from paintbrush to eraser and to zoom in and out without doing all kinds of keyboard combos. The only problem is that you can't modify color in Photoshop, but you can with GIMP.

  16. Hacking possibilities on Nintendo Announces New Console: Wii U · · Score: 1

A few years ago I bought myself a Wiimote just to play around with after watching Johnny Chaung Lee's demos. The Wiimote packed a lot of tech in a small space and I found it finding new and interesting uses for it. This new controller got me wondering about all of the cool ways this could be used on a PC. I mean forget an iPad (yes I know it's not the same), but if I could play PC games, or emulators, or what ever else with this I want it. Sure I might be more expensive than a Wiimote, but I;m guessing it'll be much cheaper than most tablets.

I'm skeptical of this service, but not because of lag. I always make the assumption that they somehow solved the lag issue. My concern is the games themselves. When OnLive was first announced many people seemed to predict that this would be the end of game consoles. Why? What kind of games will be available on this service? PC games? I know that there are plenty of console/PC ports, but there are some games that are on consoles that are not on PCs. Most of the are on the Wii, and most of them have the name Mario somewhere in the title.

  25. Touchscreen Vs Styus on Windows 7 Igniting Touchscreen PC Market · · Score: 1
I see the whole movement of everything going multitouch a little disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of multitouch and I love my iPhone, but I also like using the stylus, mostly because I like drawing on screen. I bought a TabletPC, not to take notes, but as an alternative to a $2000 Wacom Cintiq. The tablet cost me $1000 and came with a computer attached. (Although it would be nice to use the tablet portion on my Mac.) Even on my PDA I'll whip out a sketch or two.

The mutlitouch on the iPhone is nice and all, but it makes drawing a little awkward. I know that there are people can draw well enough on a iPhone to make covers of magazines, but I've never been I to finger painting. I would hope that there would still be some cheap stylus based tablets coming soon. Or that the Wacom would seriously lower the price on the Cintiq.
