Can I get the source of a software which is licensed GPL2 only, make changes to it and release it as GPL3? Second question: How about the other way round?
I agree but the linux crowd is also to blame. Most of the linux users try to shove it down normal people's throat..."Windows? M$ is an evil monopoly...You don't need any crappy Antivirus on linux...Ubuntu is great..use it, use it, USE IT!" This desperate talk scares away some people.
If everybody had the attitude that you say you do:
We don't care if you use Linux or not.
then it would be nice. But this is not the case. Maybe linux users must also learn to STFU sometimes.
P.S In case you got the wrong idea...I use linux.:)
And it's a religion, which means it's not supposed to be subject to rational thought - you take it on faith, unquestioning.

Fixed.
Please do not generalize. All religions do not forbid you to think.
Mark Shuttleworth is reminding the openSUSE devs of one of the choices available to them.
If they are in a distro developer community they would know about ubuntu and how it works. Novell works on many upstreams(Evolution for one). If people wanted to quit and join ubuntu they would have done that anyway. There was no need to post such an invite. It was cheap.
The article missed this: a reply from one of the open suse devs to the ubuntu=devel list.
If this happens, all the major distros (like ubuntu etc) would bundle JVM, JRE.. J* with the iso. Just when I was hoping distros would get snappier every release, things like these come in the way!:(
IMO, java is a better server side language. Please don't use it for desktop applications!:(
kota is Telugu for 'fort'. Telugu is spoken in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

It says Israel. It must be ok in America.
Do you want linux on the desktop or not?
And no I cannot imagine what it would look like with this description
Well, this is Slashdot.
Be prepared to see the same news a few weeks from now.
Transproxy?
It doesn't support proxy yet : https://develop.participatoryculture.org/democracy /ticket/1165
The article and the home page say "Democracy Player 0.9.2 Released!" but on the download page it says
"Download Now Version: 0.9.2 (Beta)".
The download now page says 'From Dec 1'

No, they're going to dual boot.
Whatever you say, nothing compares to the ubuntu community. Any FOSS community should seek to imitate it.
