That's me! I've been hearing impaired my entire life. I tried some ITC aids a few years ago and I just could never get used to them. All the strange sounds that I could hear with the aid were really tough to get used to. Plus I don't really mind being hearing impaired, I think makes those around me more uncomfortable than it does me. I kind of like being able to turn my back to someone and poof! I no longer have to listen to their silly rant. Really quite a Godsend at times. Oh, and you really should be more careful what you say when talking on your phone at a red light. If you're behind me, I can hear you if I look in my mirror.

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective on the situation. Far too many people with little or no knowledge offering up what they purport to be facts. Nice to see someone with some real knowledge add to the conversation.

I do have a question though. I've noted that some people, including yourself, point out that these are "migrant" workers. I know what a migrant worker in the U.S. is but I'm not certain I know what a migrant worker in China is. Would if be fair to say that even in China, a migrant worker is not expected to be afforded the luxuries usually afforded to non-migrant workers? Is a migrant worker in China looked down upon by the general populace as is usually the case here in the States?

If a simple layperson like myself is allowed, may I say that if you read only one law brief this entire year, this is the one you should read.

I happen to know about this thesis as my wife is the author. Her interest in the subject arose from her own experiences as survivor of childhood cancer with a 1% chance of survival. That's right, she had a 1% chance of surviving her cancer and somehow did. She has gone on to be a Pediatric Oncology Nurse and is now working on her PhD. She has personal, formal and vocational experience in this area.

Being familiar with her thesis, I can tell you that she found no significant correlation between hope and survival.

As you say you would find such a study interesting, I recommend you read her thesis. It does a good job of defining hope and offers many sources for further study.

As this was a known and long used device that many users were accustomed to, the picture conveys the meaning behind this "new" device and it becomes intuitive and easy to learn for users. Or in other words, this new patented device itself cites it's own prior art that should have invalidated the application.

For instance, that manual would have nothing about XML in it.
