What is the patent for though? Can't say that I think the UI is that similar, and in those regards that it is, it seems like quite obvious things, which I don't think should be covered by patents (and probably isn't anywhere else than the US). Or am I missing something?
Actually I saw a plane in a flying mag the other day which uses this coupled with very efficient battery to be almost self sustaining, the theory being that some of the energy spent going up will be recovered while going back down -- add a few thermals to the mix, and you can end up breaking even, or even possibly with surplus energy. I'd google a link, but I'm sort of hung over..
... I don't know about the rest of you, but I never, ever eat in really expensive restaurants. As good as the food may be, it's simply not worth the additional cost. Which is why I'll be getting a Wii and not the PS3.
"Einstein said information can't travel faster than light, and in this case, as with all fast-light experiments, no information is truly moving faster than light," says Boyd.
I think the most effective strategy would be to burn actual movies whose copyright has expired from archive.org and labeling them something like btlegmovrip3241.avi. Imagine how much fun they would have trying to determine the copyright status of all these movies.
I have a few expired copyright and (cc) movies up @ http://widescopes.net/ if you can't be bothered to wait for the download from archive.org (which can be slow). The site is a project I never got round to finishing.
"Secondly, I have had the opposite experience with supposedly "brilliant" Indians and Chinese who graduated from these wonderfully elite universities who couldn't tell their ass from a whole in the ground when it came to real computer science. What does this say?"
It says you can't spell your own language. Or am I missing something? What exactly is a whole in the ground?
I've thought about this some, and actually, perhaps it's a better idea to bring him to the US for trial,
You know what scares me? That you talk about this as if it's your god given right to bring him where ever you want, regardless of the fact that he is a foreign citizen. It seems the views of the current US administration is filtering down through the general population. Well here's a clue: YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO "BRING" CITIZENS FROM SOVEREIGN COUNTRIES ANYWHERE!
If it was someone from my country who did this, they'd have to pry him/her from my cold, dead hands before they could extradite that person. Whether or not this guy is an idiot is really not the issue. At all.
"Yeah, but Russia has a screwed economy due to the failed central-planning system of the Soviet Union, and hence have some of the worst public services (including medical) in the world."
I'm sure that's what they told you in school, but some digging will reveal it's simply not true. The Soviet Union would have been fine if it wasn't for the overspending on the military, which was caused by the Reagan administration spending so much on the US military. The US knew this, and it was a deliberate action to destabilise the SU, and the whole region. They are fucked now because they sold everything they had to foreign capitalists. The same reason the price of metro tickets in my home city has risen by inflation^2 the last couple of years, after it was sold off to a french private company.
And the same reason Americans spend double the amount the Brits do on healthcare, while still being sick a lot more often.
you got modded funny, but if you want to know who's really sick (to the tune of male life expectancy around 55, net loss of over million citizens a year, etc) check out Russia. And then check the stats for the Soviet Union. Makes for interesting reading...
"No, GarageBand and a Shure mic from Sam Ash isn't going to cut it. If you want professional sound (i.e., something that will sell), then you've got to get some professional gear.
Actually, this is the thing which both you and the music industry have wrong. The simple truth is, if you know how to use whatever reasonably cheap (not dirt cheap) stuff you have, Joe Sixpack will simply not know the difference. Exactly the reason people listen to MP3s in the first place, even though CD sounds so much better.
ummm... I think I've read this before. I mean seriously. I read this exact comment before sometime. Do you work for M$? I mean, do they pay you to write this? It's ok, you can tell us. Maybe someone can hook you up with something else.
.. I have a problem with my 700 mhz webserver that lives under my bed. How do I shut that up? It's driving me nuts. I'm not trying to be funny here, I'm really starting to loose it over this thing.

but they cheated by using thermals

maybe a little OT, but Airwolf, hands down.

how come so many germans use it? Is it originally from there, or is there some other interesting reason? Just curious...

But isn't bad news information?
or is it the same broadband-over-electricity-lines that we've had in Europe for years?
It's because women don't know wh... oh. sorry. nevermind.

Ok? Can we all agree on that please?

I don't even know what any of these things are, but sure, what the hell. I'll switch.
"What would you say about Windows if the Control Panel icons randomly disappeared for no apparent reason?"
I'd say "NOT AGAIN!!"
Come on, it's already at 4. Just one more.
"The first thing I do when I get a new car"
Dude, you really need to get up to scratch on this whole "used car"-thing. Could save you a lot of money.

but since thay have no proper pubic heathcare, those differences matter a lot more
So that's why they shave it off?!

And what's wrong with Shure, btw?
"Weighing in at 1.36 petabytes, or 1.36 million gigabytes"
I'm not mathematician, but isn't one gig 1024 MB? And one MB 1024 kB? And one tera 1024 GB, etc.. you get the picture...

hmm... I could be wrong here, but I think the parent was trying to be more funny than insightful.
oops, I forgot the "...how do I shut that up, without spending money". My bad.
