it was a classical piece, and he was not able to change guitars during the song... long piece. It was not Segovia. Ah well, the name will come to me eventually (probably Friday).
but there is a classical guitarist who uses the device in concert because his guitar slowly loses pitch during the course of the pieces he plays. It was easier to use the device to keep the overall sound in tune with the accompanyment than stop every few bars and tighten up the catgut.
nevermind the liver damage... yes, people have DIED from taking creatine. You have to increase your water and food intake substantially to use the supplement.
so many now have started their own label for that very purpose - take away some of the power from the big companies. Basically, they start their own label, and use the big names for distribution only.
Also, some go to labels like Caroline (et al), which seem friendlier to more established acts.
This is completely retarded. Somebody nuke NBCi and this other group for me.
The number of times I've consulted on-line, amature tablature for both bass, rhythm, and lead parts cannot be counted. Its a great way to find out how to play songs - especially since no one ever completely gets it "right". Each person's transcription has its own character since we all hear things a little bit differently. It would be a disgrace to musicians everywhere to allow legal hound dogs ruin this tradition over "potential competition" to something I doubt I'd ever use.
Again, someone nuke them now. It seems the only sane thing left to do, other than outlaw lawyers, but that's a little too paradoxical.
much to your painful realization, it does not take a serious musician to want to sell your soul to a record company, nor does being a serious musician mean that it is all that I do for a living.
Oddly enough, I do not work at Burger King. In fact, I work as a formulations development chemist for a rather influential pharmaceutical/biotech/drug-delivery company. Being a serious musician has nothing to do with that.
My 5 years of work will most certainly not be worthless. If people like what I have done, and appreciate the work I have put forth, that's all I ask - I don't need music to support me, but I'm not exactly giving up music.
So, laugh all you want. Its people like you that I don't need.
yeah, but I'm a bit of a reed snob (though I know many who are by far worse...). I usually get 2 boxes - Vandoren 4's and Vandoren Java 4's. Both for alto. I think the reeds only cost a total of $30. The Standard Strat was a bit of a different story, cost-wise. I suppose I could have gotten the SRV custom, but then have been killed.
Don't know about the arctic guys, but I can tell you about the operators at WLW (AM 700 in Cinci, OH). Before the FCC regulated max wattage at 50kW, they operated at something like 500,000 watts... and according to two guys who are long retired from there, they used to warm up in winter by standing near what they called the "RF stacks", which were cooled by the pond that had prepetual steam rising from it.
Oddly, many of their friends have long since died of cancer. I met these two at a HAM radio/Boy Scout thing many years ago. Couldn't tell ya if they're still around. But just knowing what the WLW tower and the VOA antenna were capable of causing (as in, your stove being hot when turned off, the ability to hear the broadcast on your fence, etc...), I have no reason NOT to believe them.
I was about to post to this, then I read your post. So, instead of being completey redundant, I thought I'd just say thanks.
I wonder just how many have gone through the same evolution of browsing - Yahoo to AltaVista to Google. I also wonder what will be next in the evolution, or will Google find a way to evolve that is more effective than their predecessors?
With the rapidly ever-changing beast that the web is, and I'm sure always will be, is there anything out there that will really last, anything that will really have a true "tradition"? I suppose sunsite turned metalab turned ibiblio (is this current or have they changed again?;) ) might be the closest thing I can think of, but as they are tied to academia, that might be one reason they are not as prone to the changes of economics.
...I think your "followers" posts as you are better than your posts as yourself.
Anyway, similarly, my nieces and nephews have been playing game boy games for years, and the old game boys get handed down to the younger ones as the elder cousins get newer systems.
As far as this thing being big only because it will be color, well... the color game boy is already in color, so that eliminates that one... I do believe the point is that this new handheld will be a bit more powerful, have a slightly different design, and still be able to play the old game boy games (a big plus, in my book anyway).
However, they could easily incorporate a feature that I swear I've seen done at one point, but I may have dreamt it: make a way to connect the hand-held game device to the larger console. Given a little time and creativity, there could be a lot of cool things that could be done with a system that was capable of doing that.
so what your saying is that you'd like a chip to replace you as a responsible parent. great. makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
btw, I'm 27, am married, and have a kid, so before everyone goes off flaming me, just think about it for a second or two. Is what you're saying technology's job, or is it your job. I think you need to understand that first.
I'm getting tired of watching so many people try to pawn parenting off on others: teachers are not there to parent your kids. the TV is not there to parent your kids. your computer is not there to parent you kids. that is what the parent is for, thus the name "parent".
Yes, we can learn a lot from the Japanese - including what not to do.
That was a very nice, informative piece on Japanese companies, but I could have sworn the overall topic was the game industry, not Japan's economic/corporate situation.
If you've anything to say about Nintendo, please, by all means, do so. Though your post may have been informative, it was actually fiarly off topic, at least in my opinion.
or, of course, you could find a school that actually cares about its students.
just a thought, anyway. that's why I spent a very long time deciding where I was going to go, also why I quickly ruled out really big schools like Ohio State... I'd have been one of how many students - no thanks.
If a school really has the attitide you expressed, ditch em.
warped as it my be, I relly don't think this was much of a troll. I don't think we'd see CowboyNeal answering any of this, but it'd be kinda funny, really.
the fact that Wired felt the need to highlight Jobs saying "fuck", and Slashdot following suit, is really just about as profound as someone proclaiming "Slashdot trolls post stuff about Goat Sex!".
This is not news. The rest of the article was news - it actually highlighted some truly interesting points from the conference. But this? Oh, no, Steve said bad words... I'm gonna tell his mommy. Get over it people. That was not, nor should it continue to be the focus.
Well, I suppose I both agree and disagree with you? As I am left handed as well, I agree that it is dumb of IBM to have separate left and right handed models - couldn't their engineers have jiggered with it a bit more and made the pad able to flip to either side? However, there are many things that right handed people have/do that I find kinda funny. Such as using the mouse - I naturally use it with my right hand - that way I can write stuff with my left hand, or hold the phone while doing computer stuff (yes, I'm inept in that I can only use the phone on my left ear, why? I don't know). Also, with the case of music - I find that the "right" handed guitar feels quite natural for me - I want my more dexterous hand on the fretboard, not plucking or stumming strings. Anyway - I'm getting off topic...
I find it pathetic that the people who design products such as this cannot get past arranging things to be universal when it comes to handedness. Usually, its not that hard - I guess they just don't want to spend the extra few minutes and a few extra bucks to get the design functionality.
On the other hand (no pun intended) - at least IBM is offering a left handed model. We could be snubbed altogether.
We need to get this thing to utilize caffiene as well as sugar and get it cranked up on Mt. Dew, or Jolt even. The thing might blow up, though, but think of the speed enhancements...

If you need an autotuner to keep you in tune, what are you doing performing a concert at that level anyway?
Oh well, if I need some really cheap strings, they'll be at the top of my list.
that should make searching for why my computer just BSODed that much easier.
I haven't done much with it, as the computer it is in is not mine and I only got to use it for a day (so very sad).
Also, some go to labels like Caroline (et al), which seem friendlier to more established acts.
Call it "just desserts".

maybe I'll actually get around to finishing some of my songs and releasing them... its only taking me 5 years...
Oh, the actual planet Mars... oh, well, I heard its made of red cheese (gouda?).
(yeah, lame, I know... I just got done turning myself into a lobster while mowing the lawn, so sue me.)

Just some food for thought.
