    Something doesn't seem to be right with the links you've posted - have a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stW8gS6rBvg and you'll see that the experience is actually pretty far from the picture you are trying to paint here.

    fwiw ReturnFire, Goldeneye and Burn Cycle are the games that i'd nominate. all incredible games on very lame systems.

    Nokia drops flash...? Do you have a source for that...?

    I got the impression that is not the case - http://www.openscreenproject.org/partners/current_partners.html and http://openscreen.forum.nokia.com/ seem to suggest otherwise.

    As for Google, they're made it pretty clear that they're sticking with Flash - http://apiblog.youtube.com/2010/06/flash-and-html5-tag.html.

    And maybe the reason other devices haven't destroyed the ipad might perhaps be because they haven't been released yet?

    I'm surprised you haven't heard of flash player 10.1?

    Its been out for over a month and works fine on my android phone...

    From what i've heard its good for all the latest devices out there.

    All apart from the iphone of course :)

    Who was it that said "The biggest mistake is denying a mistake." Well this news suggests that someone is taking that to another level.

    While a certain mindset is bound to appear in a small section of a companies fanbase, especially when it purveys such a complete lifestyle choice, to see this dysfunctional nonsense creep all the way to the top is really something else. After the way this reception issue has been dealt with you have to wonder what's coming next?

    The new mantra might end up being "Think happy place...think (different) happy place."

    sure, but if a good sample from a large population gets significantly higher iq scores than a similar sample from that same population fifty years ago then could you account for that change with genetic factors? it just seems unlikely to me.

    that and the way that iq has very little validity as a test makes it seem that this 'test' has more to do with ideology than science.

    i always found the Flynn effect to be quite interesting - given that it is demonstrates quite clearly that IQ is something that is down to the environment and has little to do with innate or genetically determined factors.

    imho, unless you looking to 'scientifically' justify right-wing or racist ideas then this would be fairly obvious to anyone who's interested.

    i'm naturally rather suspicious of any similar such test for creativity - to try to capture or measure something as nebulous a concept as creativity seems at face value to be troublesome.

    more and more, it seems like html5 means different things to different people.

    for a few people its yet another lost cause to get very excited about.

    for a few others, its a chance to have a laugh at those people as they desperately try to lift it off the ground, though sheer willpower and zeal.

    for apple, html5 is a a dodgy fig leaf as they try to control the internet in the name of increasing their bottom line by neutering any competition to their appstore.

    and yet for everyone else (99.9%) html5 means nothing and will continue to mean nothing. they'll just keep using Flash without even realizing it.

    If you think that Flash is dead or about to die then maybe you need to have a look around... ...for example the websites that won each category in the webby awards (announced yesterday http://www.webbyawards.com/webbys/current.php) are almost all made entirely in flash. The same goes for the peoples award for each category.

    For anyone in the real world it looks very much like Flash is going from strength to strength, both in terms of what it is capable of and usage.

    a friend of mine modded a tv-bgone so that it was triggered whenever the noise reached a certain level. he also boosted the ir output to a ridiculous extent.

    he would secrete it in a big pub somewhere and wait till the footy match started up. as soon as the crowd cheered - zap.

    we always wondered how it was the sports fans present never made the connection - they just assumed it was bad luck that the set always conked out at a really exciting bit.

    i will definitely second that.

    the PRS600 that i've had for a few months is a wonder. its more portable than both kindles, is more open, and cheaper.

    the other e-readers i've looked at feel cheap and are usually made of plastic. the sony has hardly any plastic in evidence at all.

    together with calibre (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calibre_(ebook_software)) it's been a revelation.

    battery life of 2 weeks, easy to read, touch screen. 1000 apologies for coming off like a shill.

    whatever you say, there are clearly more than enough cocksuckers out there to keep apple afloat, lets face it. even if they're so daft that they just want to avoid getting a virus on their phone.

    they can dig their own graves (in a walled garden) and support their favorite corp but the point here is that they don't realize the implications of their behavior. not only are they screwing themselves but other users as well

    it could be a fair point to say that if a consumerist is buying into the apple dream they're not likely to to care about other people- and that might be what underlies this.

    what is important to recognize is that apple is and always has been a detrimental influence on computing and technology. the pretty designs quickly look tacky and we are supposed to just go out and buy more of the same tat. what we're left with is more and more restrictions on our lives.

    It's a definite milestone to be able to peer into the composition of an exoplanet. Huge congratulations to the guys and girls that pulled this off.

    Developing the ability to do the same with stars was probably one of the most important steps in the history of astronomy. This may not seem to have the broad reaching implications and novelty of that discovery, but if it provides us with evidence for alien life then it will clearly be right up there.

    I call shenanigans on this demo. once the footage of milo actually starts, you may notice that the avatar is looking out from the screen directly towards the girl at points.

    Granted, she is rather easy on the eyes, but this tends to suggest the thing has been staged. Either that or the tv used has a 3d capability more advanced than anything in existence.

    Vishnu didn't actually have more than the usual complement of 4 limbs; it's just Indian depictions of their deities and gods often use more than one pair of arms to symbolise different aspects of their being.

    On the subject of Natal, I'm very skeptical of anything that has Peter Molyneux involved - even before the Milo videos turned out to be fraudulent i was very suspicious.
