And by your logic it's impossible for them to release new code that does not contain a vulnerability present in a previous version of the code, all the while not being aware of said vulnerability...no that never happened before.
I'm gunna have to call FUD on this one... The news report is inaccurate - McAfee clearly acknowledges eEye Digital as discovering the claim, not their own engineers as the article states.

> On July 5th, McAfee, Inc. was notified of a security vulnerability, by a private security vendor, that could affect McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) Common Management Agent 3.5, and earlier versions. In order to accomplish this exploit, an attacker would need network access to the client machine and would then need to construct a message consisting of proprietary information. The attack is quite complicated and requires several steps of reverse engineering of the software as well as the communication protocols.

The windows keys have long been a bane of gamers everywhere. There a few simple registry patches out there to disable them completely. Highly reccomended. After that, I bound left windows to Ventrilo's push-to-talk.

Call me stupid, but I just don't see what the big deal is. I guess it's analagous to something we have in Canada known as "French immersion" - they put you into a French school where no one speaks (or is allowed to speak) English and supposedly you'll learn French much faster. This allows you to learn touch-typing faster? Dubious. In my opinion, all it's good for is showing off to non-touch-typists and maybe increasing the size of your e-peen slightly.
I like the idea of a music player that is open source and will allow you to play any time of music as well as copy it off and use it in another player.
vs. iTunes proprietary format.
Darniaq, please accept my apology. Now that I have read the article, I see that the/. comment I was responding to was indeed out of context. Your article is quite insightful and I agree with you on a number of points.
The Burning Crusade expansion will raise the level cap to 70.
Furthermore, no one "stops" at Level 60. In fact, that is when the real game starts (the end-game).
I didn't read TFA, but "3 hours a night in Molten Core" is not the only end-game in World of Warcraft. PVP Battlegrounds, Blackwing Lair, Zul'Gurub, Ahn-Qiraj, soon, Naxxrammis and the upcoming Burning Crusade expansion pack -- the list goes on. I would assume the aricle is short-sighted throughout.
I believe the summary is misleading - Office 2007 will not require Sharepoint server (i.e. for an individual/independant user), though it will be needed to take advantage of it's collaborative features.
This free offering is great, free calls to Canada and USA, however I think that Skype should begin offering SkypeIN numbers in Canada. Right now I am using www.vbuzzer.com for an incoming # in Toronto and their client and service leaves something to be desired.
Skype all in all has been pretty decent, with eBay's acquisition, hopefully it will get better.
And yes, this is definately a loss-leader to bring people onto their software.
Windows XP , we run host intrusion prevention as well as network intrusion prevention, firewall, gateway anti-virus, host anti-virus and gateway anti-spam.
I'm sorry, but I believe in a proactive rather than reactive security policy.
But you go ahead, keep running your machine without protection until AFTER you get a virus.
Something tells me the reporter has a hidden agendy against McAfee. McAfee isn't trying to "scare you enough to consider buying its anti-virus software for the Mac", they're trying to point out that anti-virus software, McAfee's or otherwise, for the Mac is an important and vital piece of protection against the malware of the Internet.
mod parent insightful...

I remember people were pretty upset back in beta when it was introduced. Even though it's tucked away in the video settings menu!

How does Sam Fisher work into the equation?
I've been beta testing this game since August 2004 =)
