I'm glad AOL finally dumped their monthly charges and offered free service last month. I have been paying $14.95 per month for years and now no longer. Great deal!
it's pure traffic acquisition. Since YouTube gets more visitors than Google's own video service, they can hop on their bandwagon and sell more ads. Google lives on ads so this is a site they can definitely take on and prevent Yahoo from purchasing it.
Most news about Google is inevitably broadcast by Yahoo on its news service and finance section. At least they are making some money off of it via advertising.
The traffic levels for A9 have not improved much and it probably isn't helping the main business at all. They are probably just reducing expenses since they realize they aren't going to put a dent in Google or Yahoo.
A PhD means you're willing to stay in school for years longer than most students who just get a BA or BS. Then you still might not find a job when you get out.
WalMart has reportedly threatened major studios with repercussions if they sold on iTunes. Walmart loses money on new DVD sales but uses that as a lure to draw in customers.
I'm surprised they don't challenge Apple over digital music sales and CDs.
I thought Bugmenot was a great service, but it appears a lot of sites that require registration have caught on and disabled usernames and passwords listed there.
YouTube hit a goldmine when they allowed sites to view their videos. The free publiciity is immeasurable. It must cost a fortune for them in bandwidth per month.
Microsoft jumping onto the bandwagon again in social networks. They are trying to catch up with Google in Internet search but their Windows Live is just more confusing nonsense from Redmond.
Youtube will have to cut some sort of licensing deal with these music companies if they are going to air their videos. It's just like Google making a deal with the Associated Press after linking to their sites for years on Google News for free.
I have the D70 from Nikon and it's a great camera with high quality photos and 6.1 megapixels.
But I recently bought a smaller Panasonic Lumix camera with 5 megapixel resolution and I like this one even better. The photos are good and it is just so small it can fit in your pocket unlike the bigger cameras which have to be lugged around.
I'm sure plenty of this goes on when trying to get information about someone else. But once it's made public, someone has to take the blame and Dunn is the one.
Facebook has been limited to alumni groups and students, unlike MySpace which is open to just about everyone.
Now Facebook is letting people with no education to join up.
I don't see how 15 second (or 30 second) ads would hurt the site. I think the site caters to a younger audience so as long as it's free, they will still use it.
I can't believe more stores don't have security guards at the entrances. They complain about people stealing stuff yet there is no one at the door to discourage them from stealing. Same with banks. There are so many that get robbed, yet few have guards to protect customers and employees.

Won't this encourage people to buy music online instead of CDs in the store? I thought this was a big draw for them.

That's why Gates has pretty much left the company. He knows Microsoft can't really invent anything besides milking the Windows/Office franchise.

I don't think Google Base is all that much better. There is so much junk on there it's really not worth searching from what I've seen so far.
A lot of smart people eventually become lawyers in this country. It does pay well.
I can't believe people actually spent time trying to find out if LonelyGirl was real or not.
I like the message that Apple puts on the plastic wrap when you buy an iPod: "Don't Steal Music"
This guy is definitely God. He is probably as important to Apple as Steve Jobs.

Well it's obvious that everyone is waiting for Microsoft's new music player.
She's going to get the boot just like Carly Fiorina did.
