    It depends on what you want to develop, but if you were in india, I would have suggested you to go Nokia symbian based as it is the defacto standard for smart phones in India. But web interface is limiting, but definitely more flexible.

    There are tons of coding standards, but the fact is when you writing code, it becomes a real pain to follow everything to the dot. I sometimes feel that just three things are followed(in no particular order, all are equally important), that enough.

    1. Write simple code, no cryptic code(Though sometimes for optimised code this might be not all that simple)
    2. Write small functions. Anything more than 50 lines is better moved to a function(Making functions inline makes sense sometimes)
    3. Give variables and function better, self explanatory names than i, j, temp,test etc. Give specific names(like rowCounter, loopIterator etc) , instead of generic names(like i, Counter, tempNode).

    They had similar policies in almost all their colonies. Britishers are one of the biggest racist cultures. History of British India as I have read has 100s of such stories.
