Actually where I come from that is incorrect. In the country a short drive to the shops can be 30KM or more.
The difference it makes is that you become more complacent closer to home and also when you are fatigued, you figure well I'm almost there, I'll push myself into those last 5K's instead of pulling over and having a strech.
As the saying goes (and I have no stats to back in, just my experience on a Road Rescue Crew), most accidents happen withing 5Km of home. A 5 hour journey in any car can be tiring, if you are tired or exhausted pull over! I've pulled over within 5 Km of my home before, simply because I was exhausted and I'm glad I did, because there were times that I would have missed a vital indication that avoided a serious accident.
IME accidents are generally caused by:
Not driving to the conditions, ie. to fast in the wet
Not reacting to an unforeseen situation correctly ie. Swerving to miss an animal and hitting a tree instead (Very common in the Country parts of Australia, Kangaroos love jumping out in front of moving cars)
Or lack of concentration, which IMHO is one of the biggest. The amount of drones I drove home on the freeway with probably wouldn't react fast enough to any unforeseen road conditions.
When you buy exchange, you license it for X number of users and a Copy of outlook is included in that license. (Not advertising here, Outlook has caused me far more hair loss since it was pushed upon us)
If had mod points, that would be getting an Insightful. Even if the Current Underbelly Series is only a tiny bit accurate, those must have been scary times. I was only in Nappies during that era.
I have an ESXi box at home, which I use for my own personal Dev and it's handy to have a good play on it, rather then learning on our production setup.
My biggest gripe is the removal of anything Linux'y, as with white box hardware it becomes harder to use cheaper gear as none of it plug's in to ESX. eg Cheap UPS's and Raid Cards (ie the HP/Adaptec 2610SA). Aside from that, Tyan Board and Raid Card -> 20mins to fully installed VMware ESXi environment.
It must have been a sad day the day the music died. Buddy Holy, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper were all amazing artists, taken well before their time:(
Around here... I wonder if they are using a click track?
On a serious note, I do like the warmth of older music, and my listening tastes tend to meander around the times between 5 + 30 years before I was born. (Child of the 80's).
As much as a tech nut I am, I still believe there are certain area's in life where it should be left at the door.
That really is a big part of the problem. People wanted Outlook/Exchange here because "Groupwise was too hard", but the funny thing is we spend more time now "Training" the same people on this product that is "so much better" and we actually get more complaints! There is workflow functionality that is just not there in Outlook or if the feature is there it is that hard to use people don't bother.
It really astounds me and boggles my mind. But I don't pay the bills and now we send most email problems out to a 3rd party support company. TCO is up quite considerably, so is down time. (Scheduled and Unscheduled)
Depends on the enterprise, to better support users (Especially in a smaller Enterprise), you are better off running the same version of OS across the board, rather then half Version X, Half Version Y.
Run my own email and accept that email is an insecure protocol. Mobile phone, well if someone is sad enough to listen to my hours of drivel, well so be it;)
Most of my friends are pretty scattered to be honest, as I've moved to the other side of the country where I grew up. Plus It was a pretty small town and not much in the way of employment, so most people left town as soon as they were able.
Between email and phone, I have the choice not give my data to a corporation like facebook.
Great Places to pee, with the added bonus of tastier lemons! A friend of mine who was a bit of a drinker and also had regular friday/saturday night booze ups with heaps of people around had a lemon tree and being that he only had one toilet, that lemon tree did get a regular watering of yellow water. It was one of the only plants in his garden that flourished and I reckon the best darn lemons I've ever tasted!
I second that, I am in the same boat. I spend my professional life sitting in front of a screen, now whilst I do have personal projects I work on at home, my entire social life is about getting out of the house and hanging with my friends. Personally I'd rather have a few close friends then 1000 people "I know". For those that I can't visit in person, I still spend time on the phone to them.
Not knowing what D-VHS unit your using I couldn't tell ya, at the end of the day it really depends on the cable box and the D-VHS unit.
Say combine this, this and for $3 probably one of these you then end up with a story like this (Which was in August 2005, Knoppmyth has since matured significantly!)
And if you want a bastardised 4 pin cable, then here is your answer. And if your D-VHS unit or Cable box doesn't support what you want to do, then I'd hazard a guess that the cable is probably the least of your worries;)
Hrm NTFS has been supported since 6.10 (as an optional package) and I believe since 7.04 and certainly 8.04 you could just plug an NTFS disk in and have it "Just Work"
Do you mean like the one pictured on the left here
If so I'm afraid that's a pretty standard lead, that you'll find on most video cameras, some notebooks and many of the off the shelf PVRs I've seen. You can even buy a 4 pin to 6 pin cable without looking too hard (I have several in my box of tricks).
Well yes sometimes the next Neighbor is 30K away. In some places in the middle of Australia the Nearest Neighbor is many hundreds of kilometers away.

After I confirm Telstra has credited my account because of their incompetent service, I will be taking my money and going Naked! Can't wait!
Possibly not, NSW have a lot of outrageous laws and have done for a while.

South Aussies are a strange bunch, I fear for my life driving through that state :P (I have good mates in Adelaide)

They aren't that large in the scheme of things either.

I noticed some strange and very subtle ad's the other night whilst watching TV. Personally it offended me.
On the other hand, many Microsoft.com pages render in Firefox with menu links being the SAME color as the background. :-/
Oh... I just thought that was normal...!
These days you can get a similar Stanley kit for about AU$10 from Bunnings. One of my most used tool kits!

So would a hard disk failure. Backups are still important when running *nix
