  2. Re:Such a good thing? on Auto Safety Tech May Encourage Dangerous Driving · · Score: 1

Actually where I come from that is incorrect. In the country a short drive to the shops can be 30KM or more.

The difference it makes is that you become more complacent closer to home and also when you are fatigued, you figure well I'm almost there, I'll push myself into those last 5K's instead of pulling over and having a strech.

  3. Re:Such a good thing? on Auto Safety Tech May Encourage Dangerous Driving · · Score: 1

As the saying goes (and I have no stats to back in, just my experience on a Road Rescue Crew), most accidents happen withing 5Km of home. A 5 hour journey in any car can be tiring, if you are tired or exhausted pull over! I've pulled over within 5 Km of my home before, simply because I was exhausted and I'm glad I did, because there were times that I would have missed a vital indication that avoided a serious accident.

IME accidents are generally caused by:

Not driving to the conditions, ie. to fast in the wet

Not reacting to an unforeseen situation correctly ie. Swerving to miss an animal and hitting a tree instead (Very common in the Country parts of Australia, Kangaroos love jumping out in front of moving cars)

Or lack of concentration, which IMHO is one of the biggest. The amount of drones I drove home on the freeway with probably wouldn't react fast enough to any unforeseen road conditions.

I have an ESXi box at home, which I use for my own personal Dev and it's handy to have a good play on it, rather then learning on our production setup.

My biggest gripe is the removal of anything Linux'y, as with white box hardware it becomes harder to use cheaper gear as none of it plug's in to ESX. eg Cheap UPS's and Raid Cards (ie the HP/Adaptec 2610SA). Aside from that, Tyan Board and Raid Card -> 20mins to fully installed VMware ESXi environment.

That really is a big part of the problem. People wanted Outlook/Exchange here because "Groupwise was too hard", but the funny thing is we spend more time now "Training" the same people on this product that is "so much better" and we actually get more complaints! There is workflow functionality that is just not there in Outlook or if the feature is there it is that hard to use people don't bother.

It really astounds me and boggles my mind. But I don't pay the bills and now we send most email problems out to a 3rd party support company. TCO is up quite considerably, so is down time. (Scheduled and Unscheduled)

And if you want a bastardised 4 pin cable, then here is your answer. And if your D-VHS unit or Cable box doesn't support what you want to do, then I'd hazard a guess that the cable is probably the least of your worries ;)
