I got a new iMac in early March. Upgrading from 2GB to 4GB of RAM is $100. Upgrading from 4GB to 8GB is $1000!!!
Someone explain that pricing.
Also, I ran MacOS for the first time ever for about 30 minutes just so I could download Ubuntu. I hated it. I have a little money to spare and I wanted an all in one system. The competing Dell XPS One and Lenovo a600 didn't match up. I was willing to pay the MacTax for style.
*ducks from mac fanbois throwing shoes*
Has anyone here had an experience where they were busted by federal wire-tapping? Does anyone personally know anyone who has been busted by federal wire tapping?
I've had luck with consumating.com. I'm surprised more single slashdotters don't use it.
it's advertised as the place where "indie rock girls meet geeky boys"
that site is based on intellect rather than statistics. It's very personal.
The Wii deserves some consideration to be a top game console. I played the NES and SNES from 1988 to about 1996. When the next generation of consoles came out, I played them, but got tired of them quickly. I pretty much stopped playing consoles for about 8 years until the Wii came out. I know this is true for a lot of people.
During the past winter holidays, my parents, grandparents, and other "older" relatives all loved the Wii too. My 80 year old grandmother won the family bowling tournament, and talked smack about it! My mom got addicted to WarioWare. There's no way those events could happen on any other console.
We had this problem at work until we got people to use Softros Lan Manager. We pushed it to all the clients, and amazingly they stopped using e-mail for 1 line replies and quick conversations.
Which one would run Ubuntu Linux more smoothly? That's the one I'd choose and my guess is that they'd do it equally well. That said, all-in-one desktops are pretty cool and as I get older and care less about building machines myself, these seem more appealing.
Those who are investors will know that Netflix lost 270,000 customers in the 3rd quarter of 2007. That's not good, and it's definitely too early to tell who's winning the battle.
I'm a complete computer geek and expert compared to the average PC user. I'm a total noob compared to the average Linux user. I've flirted with Linux distros (mostly RedHat, Suse) for a couple days at a time over the last 10 years or so. I never found Linux usable until I tried Ubuntu. Software installation, device setup, and usability actually makes sense to me now. If it took a "dumbed down" distro to show me that compiling and terminals aren't the way Linux has to be, then Linux advocates should be supporting Ubuntu.
he should go on game shows. He could handle a few weeks of championships on jeopardy to subsidize his wiki career.
I'm a layman at the logistics of what this means, but this guy's talk at DEFCON made sense to me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2clTKh2vFAE
My Acid Test Does it have adblock? Does it have mouse gestures? Firefox gets a 100%. I don't know about the others.
no, the People's Front of Judea!
You mean an orange traffic cone that typically signals "an accident is coming if you continue this way"?
5 points!

He's seriously been working for 18 hours a day for the last 3 weeks. He looks cracked out, but he's just DARPAed
how many miles to the gallon does it get? what the heck will one do with 256 megs of flash drive? That seems sort of puny.
There is still no support for all-in-wonder cards. Nice try though.

why not use couchville.com?
I would love to see Miyamoto make an FPS that takes advantage of the Wii! He of all people could breathe some new life into the genre.
If the wii games had the graphics of the 8-bit NES, Id still love it
