    Anyone that is afraid of them because of what they said on the Internet, seriously needs their heads checked out. Maybe the doctor could also locate their balls because they appear to be missing a pair.

    BTW it would have been MPAA since the RIAA doesnt give a crap about movies...

    I would get both a debit card and a credit card ASAP. You need to build credit and those two things are easy ways to do it.
    They are easy and handy, providing you take the approach, "I have this much right now waiting in my bank account, I can put this on my card and not spend the cash that will be used to pay for it."

    Put your regular expenses such as groceries, particularly if they are a regular amount you already budget pretty well.

    "Well instead of writing 4, $50 checks /withdraws, I will put that on my credit card and write one check at the end of the month for $200"

    People that think credit cards are evil are simply using them the wrong way. They are great credit builders and a must have for basically everyone (ever been stranded somewhere, good luck with cash...)

    Why would that matter?

    I can go into a police station right now and admit I killed someone, I didnt, but they dont know that. They may want to question me, but they wont have a chance in hell of arresting me let alone convicting me.

    Admissions of guilt are absolutely meaningless unless their is some form of evidence to back it up.

    Apple can view themselves however the hell they want to, in this world, people are buying their computers for the software and to a lesser extent the hardware.

    They can think of themselves as a hardware company, but they are a software company that happens to make hardware.

    Have you not been paying attention to MS's product releases and their "increased security" which never amounts to any code being ANY more secure in any way shape or form.

    That isnt bias, that is a reality.

    It is history that creates expectations.
    Apple does not have an extremely consistent pattern of making poorly secured products. People would be interest and expecting a high quality securely coded system from them. They have earned a good repuation. Microsoft has routinely released bug infested crap, there is no other way to put it. When they finally made some gains in the security dept (and not even that much of a gain in all honesty) they put in a new bunch of new code into an important section of the OS. Gee, is it that hard to realize that this could cause some problems.

    The FBI file isnt a big deal, hell my grandmother has an FBI file. Those archives have become so large and lacking any sort of detail they are pretty much useless. "hmm your file says you were born here, you got into trouble here, the rest of the post it note we have on you is a doodle of a house..not sure about the relevance there."

    being arrested for a felony should cause a second look when getting top clearance, Why the hell were you arrested in the first place, what was going on that you were a suspect. Those are valid questions when attempting to get a high level of clearance.

    I think you are probably doing them a favor by not talking to them...your personality is somewhat lacking "I am better than you..."

    You might just want to get used to the concept that a significant portion of your life is based on things that are immaterial.

    They are winning on one thing...they are happy...without having to "prove" their superiority.

    BTW, you made some really bad generalizations about the general population, which just goes to prove you are out of touch with, well everyone.

    Count yourself lucky, in many areas not only are people having to settle for CS jobs that are in the 20K range, the rest are simply unable to find a job.

    Many of my friends are just graduating and some graduated in december and still havent found a job that pays anything reasonable. They have been turning down jobs because they found that Menards pays much more. The market is saturated here with CS graduates.

    Chicago has sounded like it is better, but I personally would never want to live there unless I was making atleast 120K a year because the cost of living is just so insane.

    Outside of Chicago, the midwest has been traditionally the last to have a bubble, and the first for it to burst. So we basically do not get the extremes very often.

    Those that cannot communicate (verbally) will never go very far in the real world. Only so many jobs exist that you dont need to effectively talk to people. If you are in college and living like this, stop ASAP. Go to bars, go to parties (yes there are many parties that are not just a drunkfest). Get involved in something otherwise you might as well get used to the lifestyle including the budget size of a college student.

    The number one problem with people in IT, they cannot talk to non IT people. Ever wonder why the person that has very few uber l33t skills is pulling down 90K a year and the top knotch programmers are now having trouble cracking 40K

    College is never just about studying, that probably comprises less than half of what college teaches you. Social interaction of all kinds will shape your personality to be able to communicate with others in the real world.

    portion of the population that has a real need for an SUV. But of course they buy a real SUV, one that can handle off road. Ever notice how most SUVs handle like a shopping cart on basically all terrain.

    I have not heard a single normal customer say "Hey, you know what, I am gonna wait for Vista to come out first"

    Outside of people directly in the IT field, hardly anyone cares about Vista. MS VIsta is not even on the scope of people's purchasing desires. The best buy guy may try to push the machine that is upgradeable to vista (which those customers simply wont be doing anyways) and they usually say "yeah thats nice, i may not know about computers, but I do know its not worth upgrading"

    Basically that is the same math they use in budget "cuts"

    The people complaining about governmental budget cuts are still receiving MORE than they did last year, but at a lower rate of increase.

    "ohhhh they cut our budget, instead of going up 25% this year it is going up a tiny 15%"

    Unless you are receiving less money than last year, or not keeping up with inflation over a period of time longer than a single year you should be beaten if you claim it is a cut / decline,.

    or we should disband the public school failure as it is a failure and develop a competitive market place.

    Public schools get 6K per semester per student for their education. That would be far better used at a private school instead of wasted on new uniforms for whatever team (year and year).

    I dont care about football, why should that activity have budget 3 times larger than the entire art department.

    If i recall correctly they are trying to get a guardian appointed because the mother said "I didnt do it" then they tried to sue the daughter, the court say "you cant sue a minor like that" and round and round it went.

    Apples and oranges:

    Privacy vs safety. School administration vs Police.

    They are not even in the same league let alone the same ballpark.

    The police are searching for illegal items because they have suspision and authority as well as the person with control of the vehicle.

    The school administration is searching a cellphone for hints of information (not even anything actually illegal) based on suspision (that will only lead to more searches) whom do not have the authority to search cell phones. they hardly have the authority to search personal property unless they have a real definate reason to.

    The police have authority to look for illegal items, but they would be hard pressed to pull some one over for speeding and say "hey lets check out that cellphone for the data on it"

    school officials have even less authority even though they pretend to have more.

    Interesting point, the parent owns the cellphone, the child cannot therefore give consent to have the phone searched by school officials. The parent just needs to claim THEIR privacy was invaded and the school has a new problem.

    8 weeks of processing pisses me off to no end...
    Tivo Rebates absolutely suck. 8 weeks to "process" aka, they wanted me to forget about it. They have no complaint department and it took a consumer fraud report to the State AG to get them to send it out. it was "processed and verified" within 2 weeks. What is really sad is that I sent out my Federal taxes the same day and recieved that 13 days later, 8 weeks later I get my much smaller tivo rebate.

    They try to claim that the mail takes 3 weeks....yeah right they also said they sent it, that it will be sent on this day, then they said this day (3 weeks difference on those two claims)

    Basically to work for a rebate company you have to enjoy stealing from people because that is what your job description is.
