Yes, ubuntu never worked with the radeon 9600 in my powermac. I installed gentoo and it worked automagically! Something is fishy with ubuntu and ATI/X11 for PPC.
They offer downloads of their concerts in MP3 (and some in FLAC) format. And encourage sharing recordings of their concerts. Bypassing the greedy RIAA. www.pearljam.com
Wow, you have bought into all of the propaganda. Actually, NO tall steel skyscraper has ever fallen do to fire, or from a plane crashing into it. Check your facts, man. WTC 7 feel down to a neat little pile, around 5pm that day. If you look at images, WTC 7 is surrounded on all four sides by skyscapers. Falling debris somehow had to go around the other buildings, and made WTC 7 fall down into a neat little pile, leaving the other buildings untouched. Right.....
Except that the credit company accepted a once ripped apart, taped application! I can't believe they accepted it in that condition. That should have raised red flags with them.
I agree, it's pretty close when you add everything up, plus the iMac comes standard with a 160GB desktop hard drive, and an actual video card.
Mac mini with DVDRW drive + any 17" LCD = ~$950. And you're getting a slow ass 80GB laptop hard drive.
I guess it comes down to the size and 'coolness' factor.
BS. I can go to HP and get the same hardware as an Intel iMac for less without even trying hard.
The parts cost of the intel iMac comes to about $880. Not much of a markup considering these things are not included in the price: R&D, advertising, labor/assembly, included software, and nice OS X.
Edu price is only about $300 more than that for the whole thing, which I believe is worth the cost of assembly, software, shipping, R&D, etc.
If something is free, people complain. I'm sure if GIMP had full time paid programmers, it would indeed surpass Photoshop. Hard to compare free/unfunded vs. the corporate world. Instead of complaining, I'm sure the GIMP team would take a financial contribution or your own programming skills to make it better.
If there were no rebates, the price would be higher.
This is what they want you to think.
Rebates are a scam. It is all a ploy to make you think you are getting a good deal, and to come in and buy. Just like the supermarket saver cards, as the other posters have mentioned. You think 'gosh, I saved $xxxx by using my SIP card!' Don't be a sucker.
I wish we could incorporate Digg style feature to mod articles down.

No, I'm just a wise consumer.

Until Intel can make a chip for the same price/performance as AMD, they are long behind.

Yes most all of the computer screenshots are pre-made animations on 24, for instance. Even when it looks like they are typing.
It's somewhat like the McD case, where the woman sued and got about $3 million b/c McD's coffee is hot.
Check out this page. But yeah, I see what you are saying.

Ha. A bari-sax would be twice the size of the girl in the video.
Seems to me the Mini is an underpowered iMac

Hey this is big news, for Gentoo. I'm glad to see a graphical installer for Gentoo!

Tivos can be found for $200.

Enjoy your HP.
Cheney shot a lawyer?
My, I need to keep on current events more.
Indeed.
USPS is way behind the times. They are not set up like UPS and FEDEX are to work with businesses/corporations as easily. That is why.

Geez I'm not having a good first week.

Wow, I guess someone has obviously never read that book.
This wikipedia news, along with the PATRIOT ACT makes Orwell's 1984 a reality, unfortunately.

I agree. It's Orwell's 1984 in real life. Always fighting the 'enemy' keeps the citizens in fear. Fear controls.
