I haven't bothered to look into the ways of snort too much, but it's built into smoothwall. I've learned at leat one thing from it.... I still get hit with code red attacks multiple times a day!
Wind Waker changes the control from really really 3rd person to less 3rd person, and there's some (easy) combat, but it's basically the same as kings quest
solve the puzzle, move on
use the right item to solve the puzzle, move on
rinse and repeat
It's just that the puzzles in the Kings Quest games were often a bit more intellectual than "push the blocks around" (but at the time I was in grade school / jr. high, so maybe I just remember wrong)
anyway, I'd love another real KQ game (they quit making them after VI), but Zelda has enough of the elements for me
I release all of the stuff I do (albeit mostly student projects no one would ever look at) under the GPL because I use so much free software. I didn't pay for the software, so I want to give back *something*
Also it keeps the university from stealing my code and selling it
I just bought phones for the wife and myself, and we decided to go with Verizon wireless, mostly cuz the Sprint coverage sucks around here. Does Verizon have some sort of data network so I can hook my laptop to the phone and have real ip (not dialup to my isp)?
Living mere hours from Canada means that my cable co carries the Winnipeg CBC affilate. It's interesting to flip between the American news and the Canadian news.
The price difference between the linux/windows version and the OS X version is about $5000. You can buy one really nice new pimped out pro mac with that kind of money. My guess is they are tempting current shake users to make the "switch"
For most Mundanian creatures and things, Xanth tends to have magical (and very punny!) counterparts. I would imagine that a conversation with Com Pewter would go something like:
"You're soft where?" "Open Sores"
You've incorporated mundane technology into the Xanth world before. Will the idea of open source software make it into a future Xanth novel?
Darwin is great but you can't watch the movies in Linux
well, not without shelling out the bucks for the crossover plugin.
I always thought it was moronic that Apple released the server for linux, but not the client. Since they already have a unixish (highly subjective, given that QuickTime under OSX uses a bunch of propreitary apple stuff, but still) version of Quicktime, why not release it for linux? If nothing else it would be another way for them to slap microsoft.
And I was all worried because I forgot it was election day until after the polls had closed (doh! i suck at doing my civic duty). That was the main issue I wanted to vote on.
I'm suprised that ND now has the tough privacy law. Some organization (no doubt funded by businesses like the banks) was running a LOT of television spots trying to scare us into thinking that having tighter privacy laws would "build a wall" around ND that would keep new business out. They also ran a cheezy one with a farmer on a tractor talking about how he trusts the local banks and credit unions, and there's no need to make even more new laws.
Hooray for the most backward (well, except for the deep south) state in the union doing something progressive for a change!
Yes, fans. When I lived in the dorm, both my roommate and I were big computer geeks, so we had about 8 systems in there (desktop each, laptop each, big drived ftp warez server;), dns, mail server, firewall), and it got HOT! We were also on the 3rd floor(of 4) with a south facing window.
In late aug/sept the heat was unbearable. in the winter we never turned the heat on and even left the window open during the day.
Because this is the truth of the matter. Like the Ocsars thing, and various other TiVo promos that happen from time to time, this takes up none of the user space on tivo. The user isn't forced to watch it. What's the big deal?
As a TiVo owner, I'm amazed at what I get for $12 a month. I'd never give it up. If TiVo can generate more revenue by doing something that has no negative impact on the users (and in this case possibly a positive impact), why not?

Clarification. I didn't mean to say sell it, as that's fine under the GPL. I meant to say closing it.

ok, the free: do I still have to "dial up" to a modem isp, or does the data go straight through verizon?
-sadly, i don't have the $99/month for the osocool

You're really just making all that stuff up, right?
er... I think you spelled that wrong. Everyone know's it's mas... um, massachoo... um, er.... mashachus...
aw, fuck it.
you can get the box w/ a lifetime subscription for $250 more.
It's a lot up front, and I think they offer monthly for the sake of people who would rather buy a $400 box than a $650 one.
But as a happy TiVo subscriber, let me tell you this:
I would play twice the current $13/month for the TiVo service. It really is worth it!
a mp3->ogg converter would still need to decode the mp3.
you want to cough up the $0.75?

What, is ATI paying slashdot kickbacks? It seems like there's a story about how great the new ATI cards at least twice a week.
"You're soft where?"
"Open Sores"

and based on the prices I saw on some of the units for sale, I strongly doubt they come with legally licensed software.
hehe. only on msn will you find journalism like that.
Katz wrote something that wasn't complete crap!

Perhaps MS can sue them for 'theft of look and feel.'
;)
yeah, maybe you should go ask apple about that
yes, i retract that statement. ND has a STATE bank and STATE elevator. Bunch of commies :)

i want to register piz.za, and then then sell subdomains, so the world would have
dominos.piz.za
et al.
um... +100, Informative. That's a better explaination of financial aid than I got as an incoming freshman.

I would imagine they mean mail.app, apple's email client
