    Cheap? It takes something like $30,000 to fill an ipod from itunes! Sure it may take that much to fill a truck with Sapporo, but no one does that. Lots of people fill their ipods.

    I find that having a GPS makes it easier to learn the local streets, since it shows me where I am on the map at all times. Otherwise I have to spend all my time trying to figure our what that tiny street sign says and I miss everything else.

    That's just a canard. The only thing we learn from manned spaceflight is that it's really expensive. If we want to colonize other worlds we need to spend the money doing the research and developing the technologies we need, not wasting money sending people on weekend getaways to airless rocks or spacestations that will deorbit in ten years.

    I wouldn't kick a wall in them like I could in work boots, but they provide enough protection that accidental toe-stubbing hasn't really been a problem.

    I've been wearing them nearly every day for 6 months, including on runs. Very comfortable, sole is holding up well. You do have to adjust your running style, but my feet feel fine when I wear them.

    Couldn't this same experiment be done on a centrifuge in Earth's gravity? Centrifuges usually are used to increase apparent gravity, but if it were shaped so that the plant and soil faced outward, at the right speed, wouldn't one be able to mimic that 1/6 g?
