How so? Tell me, did you return home from the theater only to find that your copies of Max Payne and Max Payne 2 had been stolen from your collection? Did you, upon mourning their loss, realize that you could only think of Nicole Horne as some vaguely cheerful woman to the side and that you had no idea where the name Vlad kept entering your head from?
The series still exists and will exist for a very long time. Your memories still exist, but I can't speak to how long they will last. The movie version can never actually ruin the book, or the game, or the events of real life upon which it is based.
I don't expect Max Payne 3 to be good, or bad, because I have no prior experience with this studio of Rockstar's. They made Bully, according to what I've read. Was that any good? (The concept seemed fun.)
I shouldn't post 6 hours after I should go to sleep. "the thing" refers to the Bible, not The Authoritarians, which is a wonderful book that I finished recently.
I've never gotten around to reading the thing, but in The Authoritarians, in an evaluation of reconciling incompatible beliefs, it's pointed out that there are several accounts of the resurrection. Each one has its own details which differ slightly from the others. Who was there, what was said, etc. I don't remember if the tangibility of Jesus was one of those.
It certainly helps the premise that a handful of the apostles, in mourning over someone important to them, all happened to dream similar dreams.
Would you mind explaining how? I use DD-WRT and while it shows bandwidth monitoring, it is only in a present-tense. It doesn't offer the monthly total, like (for example) Bandwidth Monitor Pro does.
Hawkeye: Who would name their kid B.J.?! B.J.: My mother, Bea Honeycutt, and my father, Jay Honeycutt. Hawkeye: Oh! Bea Jay! B.J.! You honestly expect me to belive that cockamamy story? Now what does it stand for? B.J.: Anything you want.
Do you have a source for that quote? I've often seen it thrown around, but never seen any hint about a reliable source for it. Wikiquote* claims that it does not appear in the Enciclopedia Italiana (which it also claims is often given as the source).
It seems like the kind of line that people will use to decry corporations merely because it evokes strong feelings, not because it has any kind of factual basis. (I would enjoy being proven wrong about this--it's a good line and I like decrying corporations.)

This remains one of the most awesome ideas I have ever heard. When I first heard it, I actually went around blabbing about it to all the people I could find. The idea is that awesome.
I just had a thought. I've never studied the scriptures, but I hear the phrase "Made/Created in His image" pretty often. Now, let's say you paint a self portrait. Is the portrait, then, "in [your] image"? It certainly looks like you. What I'm getting at is the concept of God as a being which exists in some n-dimensional way, and we, "in His image", are merely a projection of that form into only three or four dimensions.
Is it me, or is this an example of perfect Slashdot fodder? The article throws out a small handful of statistics, referencing a survey but not bothering to link the source (Since only five Slashdot readers would bother following the link) and performing no real analysis, leaving the dual tasks of Thinking and Putting Things Into Perspective in the hands of the readers.
I'm not particularly approving of this, mind you. At least, tell me where I can get the survey, so that I and the other four guys can look into it...
Do you have any details on this bet? Things that I can point to as reputable, rather than just "I heard it on slashdot"? Actual hard details about Hubbard or Scientology seem to be hard to find, due to Scientologists wanting to give the "real" story of it.
The premise of continually saying it wasn't the fault of terrorists is to keep the belief that someday it could be terrorists in the mind of the populace.
I will just appeal to your own internal judgment and say "you know its probably true". Truthiness (noun)
definition: "the quality of preferring concepts or facts one wishes to be true, rather than concepts or facts known to be true"
When it comes to making album-length pieces of music, I recommend you look at what's called "Post-Rock" by whoever writes the Genre entries on Wikipedia. I have a good deal of experience with the band Explosions In The Sky and, to a lesser extent, Godspeed You! Black Emperor. From the albums I've heard, they both produce albums which exist as single pieces. There are separate songs, individual tracks on the CD, but they don't truly stand alone.
In Seattle, it's not just the clouds, there's all the light pollution--though I'm sure we're not alone on that count. (Weirds me out when I walk around Downtown late at night and it's not dark because of all the street lights.)
Or one of those laser keyboards. Like this. http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/input/8193/ Get some reasonably powerful device, add the two of those and maybe some kind of location sensing finger ring for a mouse... voilà, now you have a justifiable reason for Linux on your cell phone. Not that you needed one.
I'm glad he acknowledges the problems with the third act of the game. As much as I enjoyed BioShock, as good a game as it is, story always becomes the strongest part of any video game for me (if the game has a notable story at all.) Despite the gameplay, BioShock left a poor taste in my mouth when I was done with it because of how the finale was handled.

Did no one else see this movie? This is clearly a step towards Johnny 5, Wall-E be damned.

The grandparent's use of Roman numerals led to some confusion. Allow me to convert to Arabic numerals.
Have you never seen Star Trek 6!?
The GP is referencing the destruction of the moon Praxis, apparently. I don't remember much of the movie.

Never underestimate the bandwidth of a dump truck full of tape drives?
Tentacle romance comes to Western Animation! And on a planet-sized scale, too.
"Analog hole? Yeah, that's what I stick the microphone in, right?"
Rest in peace, Sir Clarke. You will be missed.

Awesome, I wasn't sure they really existed. I need to remember this discussion next time I inform someone that we're in the 21st Century now.

Here's hoping BioShock 2 is even better.
For examples, see the movie Hot Fuzz?
No, wait, that was a young guy kicking old people's asses.
Can you imagine Sam Jackson's Gollum, though? Bilbo wouldn't stand a chance.
"Please, give me my ring back."
"Which one is it?"
"It's the one that says Bad Ass Motherfucker on it."
It's not like Bilbo can read the black speech to tell if he's lying or not.
