    By your same understanding, no one saw the Big Bang and no one will ever be able to test that either. Technically we have to take it on faith it happened because no one can really be sure it happened.

    Well let's see Christianity itself is based on the fact that ALL men, woman and child are sinners, as you would say corrupt, even Christians. The only difference is Jesus has paid for our sins, doesn't mean we will be without sin. So any church you end up at will have someone who just doesn't get it. Also any good bible usually comes with a Strongs Concordance, this is where you can get the literal translation from Greek and Hebrew, so you don't have to just believe what the pastor/priest tells you, but look it up yourself. Being a former atheist/scientist, I found the bible something that opened another door, this one spiritually much as science has opened the door physically.

    A nerd by definition doesn't do very well socially, since their time is taken up with learning the latest technologies or sciences rather than learning the social interactions that a politician would need to survive.

    Without the possibility to colonize other planets humanity will almost certainly tend towards conformity and ultimately stagnation. In many ways I find that fate as sad as extinction.

    People forget that scientists used to think that it was impossible to break the sound barrier for various reasons

    There was no physical law prohibiting going faster than the speed of sound, ie, "the sound barrier", it was mostly a engineering issue as compared to the speed of light which is a physic's issue.

    The idea for traveling large distances within the universe which involves folding space/time into a higher dimension seems both more efficient and generally better understood today.

    I remember the moon landings well, was only 8 myself, but when an article supposedly shows the spacecraft mock up that will take us to mars, you have to question, if this wasn't it then where is the mock-up? So far NASA has not published a single design for spacecraft that would get to Mars.

    Just thinking, if there was metal wire that was interlaced with the CNT cables, and the lines did wobble due to the Coriolis effect, The magnetic field generated from moving in the earth's magnetic field would act as a brake and minimize movement. i remember that this type of technique is used in minimizing motion when using ATM's and nano-positioning devices.

    Being in my mid-forties the best things that I found to fight off decline in mental acuity is exercising, could be running or lifting weights, seems to help a great deal, might even start up tae-kwon-doe. Also go out and learn something new, try learning a new language or whatever you've had an interest in and will get the brain working as it did in youth.
