They have stated that there will be three separate game releases, one for Terrans, one for Zerg, and the final for Protoss. Because of this split, will the game length suffer? Given the fact that both Starcraft and Starcraft: Brood War were entirely single games that encompassed three storylines, the game took a significantly longer amount of time to complete fully. How can Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty take as long as the original game 's three chapters to complete while remaining fresh and fun throughout?
Will each game be treated as an entirely separate entity in terms of publication, IE, you pay the same $50 for each game, or will it be treated as episodic content where you have to purchase the first game in order to play the second and third, and the second and third installments are significantly less expensive?
I had for a very extended period of time an addiction to an online game. I was very antisocial and i basically lived to play. Talking to Cosette helped me learn how to look at my addiction from another perspective. She got me to try to stop and i did. Now I am a much happier person and I have made an incredible amount of progress in my life. I have so many more friends, and I find that things come more easily to me, and I find joy in more things. Putting my life into one thing was horrible for me and now I have learned to apply myself, and I have broken my addiction. Thanks alot --Conner
Guide to the perfect testimonial:
Step 1: Use generalized words when talking about time. For example, instead of saying "for two years," use the term "very extended period of time." Step 2: Mention that you now have a new perspective due to talking with --insert name here--. Don't go into detail about what your perspective is now or what it was then. Step 3: Instead of detailing what steps you took to stop, just say - "she got me to try to stop and i did." Step 4: Claim that you are happier Step 5: Claim you now have bajillions of friends! Step 6: ????? Step 7: Profit!
I never said that they couldn't open a clinic without a having a medical degree... All I was saying is that I wouldn't trust those people as far as I could throw them to help others with their addictions.
I mean, they didn't even include a quote from the starters with why they do what they do...
They didn't talk about the qualifications of the people who run this place, only that they are:
Two friends -- Cosette Rae, a clinical social worker, and author Hilarie Cash
Now, these people could be people devastated by personal loss due to too much World of Warcraft by a loved one... or they could be two people who are fearmongerers desperately trying to leech cash out of rich Microsoft yuppie parents who can't figure out how to pull the plug on their kid's computerboxstation360.
All I'm saying is the article doesn't mention anything about them, and given the lack of PhD or even MD behind the names... I'll say nothing to see here, move along.
Yeah, I used some hard drives for 9mm practice about 2 years ago... It makes a GREAT desk ornament, because of the funny faces people make when they see a hard drive with bullet holes.
There is a term called Polyphasic Sleep in which you sleep for something like 15-20 minutes at a time every 4 hours. Apparently it takes quite a long time to get adjusted to, but the idea is that you force your body to immediately enter REM sleep.
It sounds crazy, but maybe the people who have been able to adapt to a Polyphasic sleeping schedule (most notably, someone named Steve Pavlina) are the people are have this gene mutation already, thus requiring less sleep? I have certainly tried this polyphasic sleeping pattern, and I couldn't even get through a weekend without feeling sick all the time...
While microsoft's monopoly is bad, you shouldn't be sueing for a refund, sue for variety!
Ok!! I'll sue so that we can have: Vista Home Basic Vista Home Premium Vista Business Vista Enterprise Vista Ultimate Vista Super Ultimate Vista Bloodsport Vista: Ballmer vs. Gates Vista: Is Windows
So, they've released that it supposedly gets 230 miles per gallon, but that doesn't translate into savings...
It's just like the people who drive "green" cars like the Prius. Do they not realize that the car will only run for about 100,000 miles before they have to replace some ridiculously expensive component? "But it's for the environment!" they'll claim. So the majority of consumers in the USA are concerned with "the environment" over their pocketbook? I think not...
The reality is that this Chevy Volt will have some absurdly high cost per mile, compared with an equivalent "gas-guzzling" sedan, but because of the "green" frenzy, people will buy it so they can tell all their friends that they are doing good for their grandkids.
I would wager that some government taxes or fees on the infrastructure is what is causing the high prices.
Or at least, that's what the cell companies will claim... "It's the FCC! They charge us $1.00 for every square mile we cover per month in fees!!11!11!"
Either way, it's greed, and it's the basis for our capitalistic society, so it's not going to change.
This makes me think back to when I used to play World of Warcraft.
There was a character running around named: "Drphillip" and I thought to myself, "huh, interesting name he has." And then all of a sudden, he started shouting in town:
"OH NOES. teh large hardon collider is turning onz0rz!!!"
On a more serious note though, I agree with a quote from the movie Contact. br> Young Ellie: "Dad, do you think there's people on other planets?" Ted Arroway: I don't know, Sparks. But I guess I'd say if it is just us... seems like an awful waste of space.
If the claims in the article are anywhere close to reality, then I wonder why they didn't consider the effect on the actual development of games.
Think about companies like EA who rush timelines and overwork their employees already! Now all of a sudden they're presented with a situation where the digital media can be altered at any point by patches and upgrades, and they aren't limited to a "gold" copy of the game. Now, granted, many current games with CD's release patches to improve the flaws in the game, but imagine when all of a sudden greedy companies are given a license to release unfinished games? I could see a world where no one purchases new games for several months, just because it was released unpatched.

Apple has a touch screen on iPods and a heavy bank of apps that are all touchable.
"Ok Jimmy, show me on the iPod where he touched you."

Not sure if you were being facetious or not, but it's Wil Wheaton, not Whil.

Google Wave is basically what started the Google Grid.
Well, that's before the Terminators came when Skynet took over.
And of course... AFTER Starfleet was established. But I think I'm getting ahead of myself.

which, I might add, is a noble cause, but let's call a spade a spade, shall we?

Exactly... that's why I put quotes around fees. They're not fees, they are "fees."
Huge difference =P

Oh man, so many Futurama quotes come to mind.

PEW PEW PEW!
Check out this Microsoft Natal intended game called Milo.
Peter Molyneux has been designing this game (supposedly) for the past 10 years, and it looks pretty darn impressive!
You forgot to throw a beowulf cluster in there somewhere...
Your declarations are false!
