If there's anything I've learned on Slashdot, it's that the moderation system is completely bonkers sometimes, haha.
I think most of the "Flamebait" and "Overrated" come from people who take it as a personal affront that I said that I don't like the way Apple did something.
I never portrayed Microsoft as an innocent victim... I said that I despise smear campaigns. I don't care which side runs them... The Microsoft ads (while saying "wheee I'm a PC!") at least aren't running around going "MAC'S SUCK!"
And furthermore, I wasn't comparing Microsoft to Apple... All I was saying is that I hate their advertising.
I'm getting really annoyed at the Mac commercials that constantly slam PC's.
I'm the kind of person who hates it when politicians run smear campaigns and TV ads slandering the opposition, and for Apple to be doing this for their TV ads seems unprofessional and childish.
If you want to highlight your product, great! Do so, and let the product speak for itself. People who are so fed up with Microsoft will see a commercial highlighting the Mac's features, and they will generally go research it. I have been put off by the commercials, and any interest I genuinely had in getting a Mac was completely destroyed.
Well, it's partially true. I'm a grown man with a wife, and I respect her requests.
She's not trying to control me, it's just that me playing it would make her uncomfortable.
I posed the OP as a funny slashdot-comfortable twist - oh, and once piece of info that's important: she's pregnant. Therefore, my concern for her emotion (read, random bouts of crazy) so far outweighs my desire to play. But... I'll probably come home with it tonight.
If the Republican's don't like that...... they shouldn't have sucked so bad for the last eight years. Its entirely their own fault they are losing, they had their chance, they controlled all the levers of power.... and they blew it.
"The Republicans" shouldn't have sucked so bad? If by "The Republicans" you mean George Bush and co., then you need to re-evaluate your terminology here.
The thing is, I understand that Republicans are being thrown under the bus with dubya because of party affiliation, but why does Obama bin Biden (see what I did there?!) keep trying to run a smear campaign calling McCain Bush Jr? I've seen the commercials...
Obama isn't just "pointing out the party, and its President, you are running against has completely sucked for 8 years." He is saying that McCain IS President Bush, and McCain will suck like Bush by proxy.
That said, I think both choices suck balls, and I'll be voting independent.
It surely seems like an easy solution to the problem, and she'll stop getting angry calls from random people. Not to mention the fact that the number will no longer be valid, and the spoofers will have to get a new number to fake. Though I wonder how they got her number in the first place. Someone randomly punch in numbers, or did they actually pick her out for some reason?
He's so much into change, he happens to change his stance on issues weekly. I can see that he's a smooth talker, but it's hard for me to rally behind anyone whose convictions waffle around seemingly at random.
What happens if he is elected and then some lobbyist comes along with an agenda, convinces Obama that net neutrality is the devil, and all of a sudden Obama reneges?
That's exactly what I'm talking about... in WAR there is plenty of content to experience in between rank 1 and rank 40, but people are picking "the most efficient" route to get to rank 40, and they aren't giving anything in between a shot.
When people actually try out keep sieges and defending a keep, it is extremely fun! But no one wants to do it because the experience rewards aren't amazing.
While I played WoW, that was one of my biggest complaints with the game.
I'm not paying so that I can grind my way up to max level and "start having fun!"
I would like to enjoy the time on the way up, thanks... I fail to understand why Blizzard keeps designing their new content with end-game as the sole thing that keeps people interested. I think it's caused a huge problem in how people perceive games now. People don't actually enjoy the process of going through the game, they just think "how can I get to the 'end?' How can I get max level?!" and they never remember any fun in between.
...AI is an exciting subject, but the Turing test is pretty crude.
The Turing test doesn't tell you whether a machine is conscious or self-aware... All it tells you is whether or not a programmer or group of programmers created a sufficiently advanced chat-bot. So what if a machine can have "conversations" with someone? That doesn't mean that same machine could create a symphony or look at a sunset and know what makes the view beautiful.
Star Trek androids with emotion chips should stay in the realm of Star Trek, because they're surely not happening here.
I'm amazed that people are surprised that an online gambling site has something fraudulent about it...
Maybe I'm being archaic here, but plain 'ol gambling seems sketchy enough as it is. When you take that online and you aren't even rolling real dice or shuffling real cards, can you really expect to have fair and truly random experiences?
Now I think the people who perpetrated this scam are scum, but it really seems to me that the players who got ripped off shouldn't have been gambling online in the first place.

THE HORROR!

Let's hope Google doesn't try to publicly demonstrate this like Microsoft did for Vista Speech Recognition!
"Dear aunt, let's set so double the killer delete select all"
Huh?!
As a Software Engineer, when I was working as an intern 4 years ago, I was offered $14.50 an hour.
After six months, I was promoted to full time status at $46,000 per year. My salary has since increased to $70,000 per year.
Note that this is in the Midwest, where the cost of living is quite low.
Well, it's partially true. I'm a grown man with a wife, and I respect her requests.

...and then I got married.
My wife says that she absolutely does not want Gears 2 in our house, so I may just end up purchasing "Ears of Boar" instead *cough cough*.
What was that honey? Oh.. uh... they must have heard me wrong! DOH it's opened already, can't return it!
TFA states that it's a 20,000 hour bulb, not 10,000 as the summary suggests.
Just FYI.
on how long it will take PETA to get involved and start making features like The Meatrix?
Change is BAD!
DJIA is down this morning, so Obama must be ruining the economy, clearly.
If the Republican's don't like that...... they shouldn't have sucked so bad for the last eight years. Its entirely their own fault they are losing, they had their chance, they controlled all the levers of power.... and they blew it.

That's why that Japanese guy created Brain Age.
I'm not positive, but I think it was designed to help elderly people retain their mental acuity.
It's a good thing Slashdot doesn't use AdWords, or the ad next to the summary would be something like:
"I just saved millions on my car insurance by switching to Geico!"
But he supports net neutrality THIS WEEK.

The short answer? I'll believe it when I see it.

It's not that Verizon exposed "the wrong" 1200 emails, it's that Verizon exposed any email addresses at all.

A little people asteroid.
Those videos don't look all that unfamiliar.

Well it's a little bit better than saying "Play Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning?"
=P

In a shocking news report, it's being reported that Jack Thompson pissed on some judges.

Thanks folks, I'll be here all night!
I sure hope they choose the metric system!
Wait, or was that standard...
Ah whatever, it'll fly anyway.
