So we're concerned about the relatively innocuous data that is found in passport files? Thank god they don't keep track of our health records! Oh wait... that may be coming next.
And here I thought it was because I get all nervous when girls are around. I talk about star wars too much. My skin, where not covered in acne, is so pale it's reflective. Huh.
... It boggles my mind that someone could not be aware of Hollywood's significant backing of Democratic Candidates... But since you aren't, here is a nice primer story to get you going
ncpmount on linux... at least in our configuration... allows us to overwrite files that have "locks" on them by users. It appears to be happy to ignore the locks. I'm guessing this is a bug... because I can't do it with the same user from Windows.
This allows us to deploy our java Jar's to our Folders on our network where the users launch the app from.
Apple isn't teaming up with Phillip MOrris or US Tobacco to make iSmoke or anything like that. And Karl Rove still loves his Apple Powerbook. Just saying that's all.
"What are your thoughts -- do Firefox and the open source community welcome this kind of analysis?"
I dont' understand how there can possibly be a "No we don't want that" argument. Me thinks someone tried to hard to add an interesting comment/question to this story.
It's surprisingly not hard to fall off of a segway if you've never been on one before. You have no idea that you can't stand on it before it's been turned on. (I did that fell over caught myself)
In addition. The Turning controls are on one of the handles and if you're drunk and jousting on Segways (Which is REALLY FUN btw.) falling off is pretty easy as well. I leaned to far forward which makes you go very fast I was attempting to charge through a hallway and while going fast I realized that I was quickly drifting towards the wall. I attempted to fix this but twisted to hard on the steering grip and it very quickly spun me in a 360 into the wall.. Which actually hurt pretty good. You don't have to be a president to fall off of one.
With the availability and increasing quality of 3rd party email services such as.mac (Pay for) and gmail (Free) (Not to mention yahoo, hotmail etc...) I can't imagine ISP based email for home/personal use remaining relevant in the comming years.
Or... You could download the Tiger/Lines Data from the Government and do it yourself with Perl then feed the long/lat to Google instead of using their geocoding API. Just the maps!
Perhaps Microsoft will be able to provide music lovers with a "better" device than the iPod. Perhaps. However, the iPod isn't merely an Mp3/ Mp4AAC (heh) Player. it's a Status Symbol. A piece of Fashion. Apple has worked extraordinarily hard to market towards the trendsetter fashionistas with their iPod. They have that user base. That user base doesn't care about wiz bang wow features. Does it work? Yes. Does it work well? Yes? Am I enhancing my image with this product? More than likely. Apple is and will be associated with "hip and cool" whereas Microsoft has _anything but_ that Image. Considering that the explosive nature of the iPod hasn't necessarily been featured based but more of a cleverly crafted marketing campaign coupled with a product that "Simply works". It will be extraordinarily hard for any company to break into that market. Microsoft will hobble around. They reach the status of Creative by unseating creative from their slot in the Digi-music world. But that's about it. Unless they somehow manage to transform their image to 'hip and cool' Oh... and apple has been battling MS in the hip and cool market lately with those new Get a mac ads. It's a multi pronged attack.
Follow up: My computer is indeed eligible for a New battery. The Battery has the correct model and serial numbers listed on Apple's battery recall website... however... when I enter the information into the web form to get a new Battery, the form craps out and says "Invalid Serial Number or not eligible" So... I tried to call the hotline.... Busy Tone... and for some reason the busy town sounds especially irritating... as if it Knows 1.8 million people are trying to call all at once.
There is a documentary called "High Score" it is about a guy named "Bill" who tried to get the high score on Missile Command and attempted Asteroids.
It's pretty interesting.

>>Are any of you truly naive and idiotic enough to believe that we'd be any better off in a Marxist scenario?
My theory has always been that the pungent smell of their unwashed armpits has a dumbing effect on their brains. Kind of like sniffing glue.
Seriously... this is news?
*sigh* I guess it's back to "Readers Digest" for my morning constitutional.

In 2004 Presidential election 70% of the "Tinseltown" donations went to Democratic candidates.
The Stink Bomb Bullets Project was scrapped because of the ineffectiveness against Hippies.

I liken it more to Transparent Aluminum.
But didn't Iraq have no Nuclear program and Bush lied to us?
So.. if we published Iraq's Nuclear program documents.... wouldn't that Kinda kill that argument?
Didnt' we do this already with Jodie Foster and some crazy rich guy who lived on an airplane. I think the documentary was called "Contact"
What about all of those Perl Documents in POD format? Prior Art! Prior Art!

You mean they can group data by topic? Like clusty.com does when you search?
I just read the stub of the article... because it seemed like it does exactly what clusty does and I don't care to read anymore.
They did just break a memory bandwidth record yesterday.
