Star / Open Office is still incredibly cludgy and ugly. I get a feeling of anxiety for some reason when using it as opposed to the weird sense of happiness I get from using Office X:mac
The curse of free markets is that things like Out sourcing can happen, taking american jobs away. However, the market has ways of resolving things it self. You take a relatively minimaly skilled job like Tech support, ship it over seas to even cheaper labor and you get your ass bitten.
What has happened here is the market provided a cheaper means, but at a cost (Customer satisfication) so hopefully, companies will fix this problem by moving these jobs back to where ever they originally were.
If i've learned anything from the tech industry. If you simply say "Linux, Database, Synergy, and dot com" anywhere in the product description you'll instantly make millions in the stock market and not need to actually sell your product.
Why couldn't he have said this months ago? I could have gotten another cushy job protecting computers against doomsday. Much like i did during the whole y2k fiasco. Mhhh... Employment by scaring the shit out of other people..... tasty
Isn't this like that time some city legislation out in California decided to ban the words "Master and Slave" when refering to Hard Drive configurations because it was not "Sensitive" to African Americans?
You've got to listen to me. Elementary chaos theory tells us that all robots will eventually turn against their masters and run amok in an orgy of blood and kicking and the biting with the metal teeth and the hurting and shoving.
Could you please explain to me how you can't do this with DRM'ed music?
1. YOu can back it up as many times as you like. Right now i have 1 bought DRM song on 3 different computers.
2. YOu can make compilations. iTunes even provides a nifty little playlist generator
3. iTunes lets you also burn copies of your play lists TO CD!~!!! or you can hook up your stereo out to a tape deck and go old school with mixed tapes!!!! The DRM does not prevent you from doing this.
It does prevent you from sharing the raw source of the file with your friends. Since there is no digital compilation format you can't exactly send an mp3 digital compilation to people unless it was one giant file. But who wants to do that?
I love apple. I'm a zealot, this is a cool thing for your BMW but read the fine print.
Only available for model year 2002, 2003 and 2004 BMW3 Series; Z4 Roadster; X3 and X5 SAV; and MINI models. Not available on vehicles with navigation system, CD changer, DSP cassette player or satellite radio. Installation performed by authorized BMW and BMW SAV centers only. Third-generation iPod (software 2.2 or later) or iPod mini (software 1.1 or later)
Yes... How many BMW owners don't opt for the CD Changer?
It's really easy to see a divide in the intelligence of the various readers of slashdot. There are few people who give it a fair shake down and most of the moderated up stories seem to be about a lack of Opensource and Remote. Thats fine and dandy. The apple users tend to admit "Sure not remote" but they then go on to point out the half dozen other features the thing has. So to sum it up, this is why it destroys the slimp3. I can take it, plug it in behind my tv and hook it up to my stereo. I can then remove the really long ethernet cable going from my hub to my X-Box and get a much smaller one and plug it right into the little Airport Express. I can then blow stuff up on my xbox and stream happy music to the stereo. At the same time. I'll be able to use my Powerbook in my kitchen, thanks to the wireless bridging capability of this wonderful device. Thats just freaking cool. Slimp3. I can play music to multiple rooms with a remote. Ohh i think it mentioned something about an alarm clock.
Are you nuts? "Too Soon" ???? The headline implies that there will actually be a time when a game about Columbine would be appropriate.
Schmucks.
I wonder if this software runs only on windows servers.
This is a rumor that keeps getting recycled. It could be true this time... just like it could have been true the last 50 times it's happened.
New headline:
Erroneous Wallstreet Journal Article causes Mac Fans through out the world to riot. Killing 15

The UI needs a lot of help.

Hmmmmmmmm.... These stories seem eerily similar
I read news sources other than the NY Times
The lack of light isn't much of a problem, our missles have GPS.
Wait... I thought apple pc's were already super computers?

You clearly aren't familiar with the terms such as "Tounge in Cheek" or even "Sarcasm"
What would you possibly be doing with your Handheld that would require that much bandwidth?
Solaris? They are / were the dot in dot com. Then they were the internet... I'm not sure.... hmmm...
