Proprietary binary only client that relies on a proprietary third party service, don't like the idea of that...
Yeah, but it's the only multi-platform solution that is reliable, works out of the box, has a pretty simple to use interface and is easy to setup and use.
Until the Open Source community can deliver something equal to or better than Skype, I and most people will continue to use Skype.
Mac OS X Has had Video Chat for about 2 years, and Windows has had it for more than 4.
Why isn't skype an option in your case? It's currently the best cross platform solution in existence that works out of the box and behind a firewall (something that can't be said about iChat and Ekiga).
Spore HAD the potential to be the best selling game of all time, but of course something had to destroy that chance. DRM is that something. I for one, will not be purchasing Spore.
It's just amazing, do people do this sort of stuff on purpose?
If any good comes out of this, it is the fact that software as a service is no longer an effective option.
It's too bad for online movie rentals though, that was actually a very good idea (except for the DRM part of it.)
Na, the useless adults are wasting their time on craigslist's casual encounters section, who think those "ads" are real men and women.
At least they use reCAPTCHA their too!
Software vendors need to get over it and realize that all this licensing crap does nothing except make things complicated and cause things to break. It does absolutely nothing to prevent piracy, and probably costs them 10 times as more to design and implement that trash than to just allow the product to be pirated.
I have the original certificate for 10 shares of ATI stock. Should I trade that in and sell the stock? Or should I keep the certificate for nostalgic purposes and hope that one day the certificates will be worth something as a collectors item?
ATI was a great company, AMD, is total crap.
Well then what we need is some kind of monitoring program that comes installed with Firefox to detect when the default browser is being changed.
If a change is detected, the program will pop up and warn the user.
Of course, the default visible option would be to "restore Firefox as my default browser")
AMD dies, then Intel will jack their rates up about double.
We saw something like this with Blu-Ray when HDDVD was announced to be dead.
And Via.. Well, they're VIA. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I couldn't care less about AMD, their CPU's suck. Have you ever used them? They overheat and become unstable. Nothing but trouble. Intel doesn't do this.
I just wish they hadn't gobbled up ATI first. If AMD Dies, ATI dies.
It really sucks because my shares of ATI were up in the $20 range before AMD got a hold of them:(
"Mozilla thus far has neglected to develop tools to help IT departments deploy and manage Firefox". Autoconfig is nice, but not anywhere as good as group policies. An official MSI package would hurt either.
I was lucky enough to walk into a Costco one weekend afternoon during September and found that they had about 15 Wii consoles available. They where all gone before the day was over but not before I got my hands on one.
If they would only fix the "arrow" cursor to a "cross" in Calc I would be happy.
This is "News" meant to manipulate the confused and clueless. Mod it down and move on....
Every time someone does something on the iPhone it becomes news. Their is nothing special about a device doing something it was designed to do.

He's being a troll. This story isn't front page worthy.
Version 2.0 on Linux now offers video chat.

Installation on all three platform it simple.

Ads should not count towards the cap. That would be very very unfair. Caps are a bad idea, because 90% of the stuff we get is stuff we don't want.

In computing what counts is shipping / release date.
Exactly, take Duke Nukem Forever for example.

See, you can make change.
Stupid Idiots.

Seriously, this is nothing new. VIOS had it before second life, etc... They were seriously ahead of their time and went bankrupted.
This should really work well with Microsoft's .NET "Software as a Service" vision.

What is it with you people and images?
When AMD Finally dies, what will my ATI Stock Certificates be worth?
No, not XP, 2000. It was much better.
he'd probably go to jail first: http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20080320-florida-botnet-herder-sheared-by-cops-faces-10-years-in-pen.html
