If stores can't sell to kids, they won't bother selling to adults. An effective ban of violent gaming. EA don't control the mass-market of gaming, Walmart do.

  2. Re:They don't need a good plot... on Why Game Movies Stink · · Score: 1

I actually really enjoyed Silent Hill... and I've never played any of the games. The plot made sense, and the effects were amazing. The dialogue and acting were subpar, but besides that, it was pretty damn good. Fans of the game apparently hated it because it strayed from the original plot too much, and non-fans didn't understand it for the most part. Maybe they didn't get the exposition scene in the hospital room, or were incapable of seeing big, nasty, flesh-tearing monsters as "not the bad guys". I dunno. I enjoyed it, that's all that counts here.

To balance my critique... this has as much to do with lego as tap-dancing. The article writer's just trying to make his article more interesting using a reasonably valid analogy for the masses of non-biochemists. New Scientist is read by a suprisingly large number of people.
"They also gave nine rats a lethal dose of the anthrax toxin, injected into their tails..."
Ow. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't like a needle of Anthrax jabbed up my ass, even if it was to help a superior species survive. XP

I understand your point, and agree with your argument, but you've got to remember the high fallibility of statistics. In a more realistic example, hemp is outlawed despite the many advantages it has over cotton. I'd do a side-by-side checklist to prove my point, but let's just assume for now. Why is hemp banned? Because of one of it's uses. Statistically, you could say that the KEY product of the hemp plant, is used as a 'dangerous drug', and knowing politics, you could probably force some statistic to say that 99.99% of the plant's growers are growing it with bad intentions.
While your lockpick argument is fine, you have to remember that even non-dangerous things can be forcibly banned through 'reliable statistics'.

As for the topic... being bisexual myself, the only reason I'd join a GLBT guild is to actually meet people with an immediate common link. I'd rather join a Metal Gear Solid Fan Guild, to be honest, and put up with the language. It's just words, and if it starts to bug me, I'll use /ignore.

While I say these guys (and girls) have every right to set up their gay guild, they shouldn't be such fags about it. :P
