Your link assumes the companies won't advance their designs, as is common in engineering endeavorers. The person who wrote this has what I'd call an extreme amount of ignorance when it comes to technological advancement. She seems to assume that actual orbital and beyond orbital spaceflight is beyond the capabilities of private corporations, ignoring the fact that it was private corporations who built all the spacecraft that have flown so far (at least in this country) and who in fact have produced many of the innovations that make it possible.
Did you actually read the whole article? The author herself points out that "Private industry already really runs the rocketry market." She then cites examples of companies and rockets both built upon previous models, and designed from scratch.

Her point is not that private corporations can't do orbital launches -- show me where she said that. Her point is that the particular line of design that produced SpaceShip One is a dead end, and that designing a rocket for LEO operations is an order of magnitude more complex.

I'll assume that you are young and jumped to a conclusion unwarranted by what was actually written.

Our parents bought us an Atari 2600 when we were kids; we played that thing until the colors went funky and all the controllers were broken. When I got my first job (at the local Kmart), I ended up taking matters into my own hands and bought an original Game Boy. When my mom saw it, she went ballistic; Why are you wasting your money on that stuff? was a common refrain.

    Then she discovered Tetris.

From that moment on, any time I couldn't find my Game Boy, I knew she had taken it to play Tetris. She even hooked Dad into it. By the time I left for college, I ended up just buying another one.

They still play it to this day. I tried to give them other games, but nothing but Tetris interests them.

They're going to just fork the wiki, and then send articles through a review process -- which seems like what the wiki was intended to be for Nupedia in the first place.

That being said, considering the fact that Nupedia only generated a couple dozen "final" articles in three and a half YEARS, I don't see how Citizendium will be noticeably different from Wikipedia for quite a while. And why would I want to go to an almost-clone of Wikipedia? I've already got access to the original, flaws and all.

Are the North Koreans aware that there actually IS a Korean version of Windows? This travelogue, from back when the World Cup was co-hosted by Japan and South Korea, suggests that they don't. I can easily imagine the North Korean government keeping mum on the existance of a South Korean division of Microsoft.

    Two quotes:
Oddly enough the students were using the English version of Windows 98 rather than the Korean one. When I asked Mr. Huk why he looked at me like I was an idiot and said because there wasn't a Korean version. A 'fact' that must come as a huge surprise to Microsoft Korea!

When asked if he felt like they were missing out on all the great information available on the Net Mr. Huk just brushed us off with, "we already know the truth from our government. Why would we want to learn what others say?" Which, in a nutshell, seemed a pretty good explanation of North Korean thought as a whole.

Are you assuming that the Japanese voice actors are that much better than the American ones?

Are you also assuming that the professional subtitle scripts are 100% accurate to the original Japanese meaning?

Furthermore, are you assuming that those subbed anime files on YouTube were translated and subbed by professional translators?

Remember, with animation, the "original" voice track is also a dub track. Just as there are...less-than-talented American voice actors, so there are less-than-skillful Japanese voice actors. And, fandubs vary wildly in quality (anyone recall the AnimeJunkies' mass naked child events fiasco?)

Japanese production companies want their products to be seen in the best light possible -- right of publicity and all, y'know. An amateur translation/subtitling job probably won't be good enough for that.
