    To use a slightly silly analogy, you are essentially also suggesting that if someone sells me a sandwich, I must either refuse it entirely or else eat it without first taking a look first at it.If it is given to me for free, I am under an even greater obligation to avoid looking at what I am putting in my mouth.

    Well, if the prices don't fall and you succeed in selling your monitor for at least half-price, you'll still end up losing money because the upgrade will be more expensive. Conversely, if prices DO fall, you lose out on the resale, but you save on your next monitor. The best of both worlds would be if you were to sell your monitor while the prices are high, and then buy a new one after the prices fall. But, if you did that, what would you use in the interim?

    I didn't want to get into the details, but I'll add to the above that under corporate law certain positions carry with them a fiduciary duty towards the company. If you are a CEO or director, you have special obligations above and beyond the contractual ties. I think the concept of fiduciary duty is relevant to the parent comment.

    use tab-completion. Windows folders navigation is not fast if you have more than 30 folders, because then you have to scroll through them.

    it's a principle of corporate law that those who control a company must do so in the best interests of the company. This is usually taken to mean the best interests of the shareholders.You can get away with not maximizing profits if you can show that you believed in good faith that your decision was in the best interests of the company (i.e. not in order to benefit you or your friend)

    actually, under a GUI you would have to:
    1. Click start menu
    2. ->Programs->Applications->Media->play
    3. Then: File->Open
    4. Then, with the browser:
    5. MyComputer->C:->path->to->
    my->mp3s->some_song.mp 3
    6. Click open.

    Sure, you could have a shortcut on the desktop, but similarly, you could have an alias called techno1 that invokes xmms with a playlist.

    I'm interested in knowing how you can open a PDF file to edit it. My understanding is that once you save to PDF, you can view, but cannot very easily edit the document.

    It'd be cool if there were, like, this city where there was, like, no privacy and stuff. And you go there and there are cameras everywhere and, like, no one is picking their nose and stuff and everyone is super good-looking and stuff. And then there's this other city that's cool cos it's all dark and stuff and everything is private and you can buy drugs there and gamble and it's like this underworld place, and all sorts of weird shit goes on there.

    If a doctor tries and succeeds in shifting blame onto the Machine, then the Big Coporation that made the machine would probably be open to a portion of the liability. In the end, the damage should be the same as before but shared between the parties.

    you didn't read what the other poster said. Yes, the terminal velocity will be reduced over the course of his flight. But he will be at that terminal for nearly the entire time, i.e. gradually slowing down.
