How is a question and an incorrect assumption moderated as "insightful" ?
Mosaic could browse the web before Lynx could. The existing program Lynx was WWW-enabled after Mosaic was released. Just because it's text-only doesn't mean that it's older!!
Also I hope Sony are going to make this a PS2 - Special Edition, i.e. upgrade the CPU/graphics as well and as such they give it the ability to play new special games that won't work on the original PS2.
Has to be Stash.
I think you need a GUS to get the full effect of the demo with sound, but with how bloated software is these days, it's incredible how much stuff is packed into 64KB here!
The refresh rate required to not see flicker depends on a person't persistence of vision. Some may not see any flicker at 60Hz, while others (such as myself) can see flicker at anything under 100Hz.
If you're using Kernel 2.4.19 or later, it's got built-in 20276 support. I've got a GA-7DXR+ and I can use the Promise RAID just fine with my Debian setup.
I just ran modconf to load the appropriate module.
You're assuming that the number of bugs filed per day is nearly constant, which is not the case. As the browser gains popularity, more and more people are filing bugs. (Which are more and more duplicate or invalid bugs, mind you....)
As much as I hate to link to MQ, here is a chart from just over a year ago showing the number of bugs filed. Assuming Mangelo has enough brain cells to do a proper graph, I think you can see the trend....
Unless Phoenix has a fix that Mozilla does not, the blocked images are still downloaded. They're just not displayed. This is explained here: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id =94118
Once this one is fixed, it'll make Mozilla/Phoenix even more valuable for dial-up users!
Yes... it's really the same thing. If your original is MP3, then it's already lost quality. Converting to OGG (or any other lossy format) will further amplify the quality loss.
Please, avoid Tiger Direct if you want to avoid a headache. Their computers are junk (Think homebrew Packard Bell), and their service/support is virtually non-existant.

Yeah... It's going to be called "PS3"
[WD] (correcting angrily) Silicon!
It sure looks like the Slashdot subscribers are getting their money's worth!
Is is really that much better the rest of the year??
the sun is by far the hottiest planet in the solar system and it would burn you if you tried to eat it
There is no consumer-level hardware MPEG2 encoder that will give you the same performance that CCE or TMPGEnc will give you.
Sure, it'll be easier and save you some time. But if you want *quality*, go with a software encoder.
Is having a password that forces a user to write it down on a little piece of paper or a post-it note really better than one that they can remember?

Of course, what is really needed is a third choice, a totally Free Software media codec solution that's competitive with both Windows Media and MPEG 4
There is.... It's called XVID

What DDS drive / software do you use that is audio enabled? The only time I've heard of something like this is on an SGI workstation.

RAID 5 can be a pretty poor performer, even with a dedicated RAID card with processor and cache memory.
(writes in particular)
I can't imagine doing software RAID 5, as the overhead is quite high.

What on earth does the type of interface have to do with heat or noise?
They're Intel Indeo Video 4.1
I had to run the Indeo installer to get the video to play on my system.

And what exactly does CD-RW have to do with magneto-optical drives?
You can add Gesture capability to Mozilla. Just get This.

Name a browser other than IE that supports NTLM authentication. I'm curious....
