    One does not buy a workstation to run single threaded tasks. If you buy a Mac Pro, you want/need the 8 to 12 cores.

    They don't even store torrent files anymore, as of February 29, 2012. They only have Magnet links (links with hashes), which lets your P2P app find a torrent file based on a hash match (not based on server name/location), which in turn... well, you get the drift.

    It is not about a deity being _capable_ of creating life elsewhere. The issue that there are those who think that humans are so special, that no other ET will be found to triumph the ‘glory’ of our species (whatever defines the difference between men and animals). Finding a small bug-like creature off-world wouldn't shock them, but contact with Klaatu would.

    And additionally, companies with such employees should be fined heavily. Only if it costs them much money, only then will this stupidity end. Protocols need to be in place, taught, checked and enforced with consequences.

    If the Higgs boson is the particle that gives other particles mass, would our being able to manipulate the Higgs lead to being able to do things with mass such as we can do with electromagnetism? Will we be able to shield or block the Higgs from interacting with other particles, leading to a reduction in mass (and therefore weight?)

    What will we see? Manipulation of gravity on an unprecedented scale: Cities as a whole will lift off into space!

    this means that EVERY MAJOR CELL CARRIER was involved in the NSA program.

    What did you think; that the NSA would skip some major company to allow for a loophole? Of course they had to involve every tier 1 player in the field. Having 80% control is having no control over the people you want, as they will be in the 20% that is left. Thus they need 100%.

    It's not that collection leads to abuse (although it probably will, even if by error), but (having) power leads to abuse. People in power will always want more power. Power gives the ability to spin how those in power are perceived, to conceal any harmful actions (past, present and future). Power gives the ability to use those not having power as pawns, to be sacrificed at will.
    That's why power should be minimized at all cost, and always be accountable.

    Unfortunately, it was only voted down in two whoopping countries. It passed in almost all others.

    Most EU countries didn't have a referendum on it. Most other countries wouldn't let their citizens' view influence the politicians on their vote. A colossal exposure of the wide gap between the views of politicians and the views of voters.

    Too many commercial sites flood the results with top links that do not give any information. Finding information used to be easy with any search engine, but it gets harder to find spec sheets and good reviews using search engines. Adding 'review' or 'specification' to a search term used to help, but now it just means that there is a useless raving review or half-baked dumbed-down specs link on the sales page. For some of the info that I'd like to look up, e.g. on electronic equipment, I find myself scrolling through many SE result pages until I find a link that looks like a non-commercial enthusiast's page.
