Kill, XP, and you also kill the last version of Windows to ship without IPv6 enabled by default. It's time has come. Maybe for businesses MS should offer heavily discounted licenses for updating!
Also, mod parent up, this talks sense. If you don't like the constant push upgrade of MS, get yourself Linux and take one of the long stable release cycles, eg Ubuntu LTS.
CS:S already plays better on my desktop under Ubuntu than it does under windows 7. I forget I'm running Linux sometimes, and it's a shock to find myself back at my Ubuntu desktop. Sadly GTA:SA does not seem to like WINE at all!
Like the UK is still 'threatening' to do? We haven't got rid of them yet, and we can spell Cheques properly!
I run a small business and anything over £100 that my clients pay me is by cheque, And quite a few things under £100 are done that way. I do accept money via paypal/credit card, but since they charge me a few percent to receive, I charge customers 5% to cover that, it's just not sensible.
Also, given that this page was the first obvious mention in the first 30 Google results, WTF are you worried about? Also WTF link to it from your own site?
particularly those that make sure they are completely open source and hackable? It's just going die when it meets the G1 and the other android phones. Even to the point of having to load alternitive firmware, enough people will be able to do it that it will make a mockery of the law.
Get a stand alone adaptor for Skype/ other VoIP system (SIP?) and hook in your old landline phones to that. Cheaper internet calls out, emergency and incoming calls to your mobiles. Best of everything. And fairly easy to convert back to being wired into the normal telephone network!
Android based app that's free and open source even, with an essentially open standard so anyone can program nearly anything to connect up. Between an iphone/ipod touch app and an android app, there's just enough space for a dedicated ebook reader to flourish.
Maybe a nice addition to a ebook reader is a way to share a book with friends, maybe via bluetooth, letting you transfer a set amount (like in Google books where you only see part of the book) and then a linking system to allow you purchase the rest. Might make it more compelling. If tracked as to who recommended it to who, it could have a new start to rating books, by number of recommendations made.
Buy your tin-foil underwear here.
Underpants, boxer shorts, bras, you name it we add tin foil to it to stop them spying on you.
Ah better answer. "I'm sorry but I have a medical implant that it might affect...."
The only reason to buy recordable media is for OS installation, as often it's either the easiest or only way to get the installer in. If USB flash drives aren't patent encumbered, can we please have our Linux installers readymade for them? Would be better for the environment too!
Easiest way to get good quality parts where it matters. Like others say the HDD will fail first, so make sure you get a server grade one, not a consumer grade. Otherwise, stick to standards, go to the new RAM you can afford, and that can be stockpiled as it will fail and in 5 years they won't be making it, so it'll cost a fortune.
Keep to the most standard parts you can, then when they go you have the biggest selection of replacements. Get quadcore compatiable boards so you can run dual or quad etc, keep your options open when you need spares.
Software wise, as so many have said run Linux based, ideally start on a stable distro and a long term support release too. Something really old like Debian, as even in 10 years time it will still have followers. Even if the support does disappear, if it's open source you can fix it yourself or find some who can (even if you have to pay!). I would also suggest getting the software to run via another layer, so it could run on almost anything. A web based app would be ideal, but even a Java app would be better. Then as long as you can run Java and the machine is fast enough, you can run it! No OS worries. Run a server and have netbook clients, as mostly they won't need much processing power! When they fail, just replace, hopefully you use something that gets over the OS issue.
have my current portfolio data on my google homepage like gmail? Then I can check my email, stocks, newsheadlines, etc, when I open my internet browser.
I can't hear you. Can you type louder? Answer: just create devices which don't amplify the sound so much, and provide a smaller output. Why can a ipod with ipod headphones create sounds so loud they damage hearing? Because Apple designed them to. 9This does not just apply to Apple and ipods.)
Less is more with web design. Make it fast, easy to navigate, produce and modify. Make it do what it needs to, no more, and no less. Use videos and flash when you need it, not because you want to or you can.
I tend to find that CISCO proper hardware is fine, it's just the consumer stuff branded as 'Linksys' is a pile of stinking crap.
Also, I'm very attached to my Monowall firewall. And yes, IPv6 support is something i require in all new network products I buy now.
We already knew this due to the behavior of the former US President, George W Bush.

turning it off and on again?

So thats why they added a webcam into the OLPCs! It suddenly becomes so clear.
Linking to it from your own website seems like a bad idea.

a slow fuse to the device. If the required task (math problem etc) isn't completed in the required time....BOOM. Simple incentive based learning.
..we find the passwords to this database on a USB drive on a train: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6....
