not to beat a dead horse, your plenty dead. This is a major update to a major video package used by pros to make tv and film, ever hear of small film called Lord of the Rings? they and a multitude of studios use these products make TV and Films worth about a couple billion a year. Not minor shit.
You, however radiate ignorance and stupidity in your post for numerous reasons others have slapped over head with. Reap what you sow.
problem is you really should be working on a cheaper machine to get the cheaper performance you crave. comparing a g5 1.8 to a 486 is just apples and oranges. You need to dump the G5 and get your self a machine a comparable power/cost ratio to the work horse 486 you describe.
Let me suggest a buff PowerMac 7100 http://www.429bauhaus.no-ip.com/Apple/PowerMac7100.html/
you will find it's PowerPC 601 SCREAMS even after all these years with photoshop 2.0 and it's 350 meg SCSI hard drive will be more than adequate to handle your 20 MB files.
apple was already doing things which was using 3d card in most of those apps, so i would be surprised if they didnt add core functionality as well, given we probably wont see a update in any of these for another 12 months
probably because it is organizing the files on virtual disk to optimize the files for the disc burning. Same is true when i burn a dvd from DVD Studio pro. I have to build it first. I assume this allows for fewer disk errors, and thus i wont have to burn disk a 2nd time if it fucked up.
i doubt that. the finder and search features of os x needed a massive overhaul . searching in Panther is way to slow. i doubt they needed M$ or google to tell them they had to do something better.
so is it too expensive or cheap? Given that Microsoft is the market leader, undercutting their price while offering comparable or even better features would be a bargain.
your right. but the best new feature IMHO, Core, is not very sexy or easy to explain to the less savvy user. I think its worthy update, but i too find the counting every minor thing as feature to be disingenuous. but thats marketing 101.
obvious? wow, im hearing about this everywhere, not. the guy uses apple stuff, as a mac user, its natural for him to give back in a format which is convient for him.
conspiracy theories such as this are just plain stupid. In Apple's history, having buggy systems never has contributed to people buying "fixed" system updates. Quite the contrary, system 7.5 and 7.5 probably lost apple more market share than any thing else in their history.
Apple is in a fragile enough place without purposely sending out bad software under the impression they will encourage software sales. they are just as likely to lose people who go to windows under that strategy and would suggest marketing people are telling engineers to make thing go bad. sounds implausible at best given that lead on OS X has was guy who developed Next and Steve Jobs in infamous for demanding things work the first time.
Apple as small market, is under more pressure to makes things work well because they dont have the crutch of a monopoly to hold them up until they fix their shit. one of reasons most apple users are repeat customers.
the more likely answer, they fucked up, makes a lot more sense.
but because apple sells updates, rabid Linux zealots see conspiracy in anything they do.
oh that is just inane. and M$ wouldn't be abel to afford a higher "subscription to congress". why would apple need to pay anytyhing in this mater given they are maket leader and CLEARLY M$ and its DRM partners have msot to gain from this.

Automator is what apple is pushing as future of applescript. maybe you should be investigating that.

You can give me the POS G5. Good Luck!

just make sure your 3d card has the right specs to run it. it wont even install if it doesnt
automater is going to finanly open the power of action script to masses. and best part is it will be invisable to work flows, thsi will just get done.
and it should be neat to see what 3rd party devlopers can do with as they update thier apps to take advantage of it
apprently it is.k /

look at side bar on lower right
it almost certainly will have speedups, every release has gotten faster on same hardware
maybe you should investigate core
yeah, i been waiting for windows to have that since i first saw on a mac in 1998
and some of these are trollish, people posting "why isn't there a spyware detector or pop up blocker? Apple is so cheap!"
never mind spy-ware isn't a issue and we have a popup blocker in safari for 2 years now.
these are ignorant postings from people who obviously dont know what they are speaking of.
that is what meta moderating is for right?
maybe you should look at core before you open your pie hole

Does M$ offer the family pack on Pro?
whats your problem again?

distorted numbers and logical fallacy on your part.
Mac make up more than 50% of graphic artist market. as for musicians on Macs, i bet that too is more than 2%
windows does have 100% of the viruse market, ill give you that much
obvious? wow, im hearing about this everywhere, not. the guy uses apple stuff, as a mac user, its natural for him to give back in a format which is convient for him.
more like obvious troll.

so, rather than a making a reasoned counter argument you offer belittlement of "fan girl and original content such as "mod parent up"?
wow, your right, your post is so much more mature, interesting and unbiased.
if by cool you mean a system which works with few hassels, i guess your right.
a 1.8 centrino is not faster than any G4 processor. above 1 gz
i'll give you one, apple doesn't pay millions of dollars to congress each year. Microsoft DOES.
Apple isn't a convicted monopolist.
have you used apple products, i guess not otherwise you would know they earn their customers satisfaction.
whoops that 3.
oh that is just inane. and M$ wouldn't be abel to afford a higher "subscription to congress". why would apple need to pay anytyhing in this mater given they are maket leader and CLEARLY M$ and its DRM partners have msot to gain from this.
your post was one ofa troll
wow, four boards. yeah, i think if they cant fix after a while they just give you a new box, or i have read.
Applecare is pretty good, in that i think they treat you well for the money.
