i thought so too, but then i realized, i never put drawer away to begin with. its neat trick to have, but in hindsight i dont think this was it's best implementation.
deadline might not be based on publicity but i suspect if there are weaknesses they know of they may have been outweighed by getting QT 7 out as soon as possible to coincide with other hardware initiatives. that is the real trojan horse apple has against MS.
after version 10.1 i have no complaints, and the usability and speed keeps getting better and better, at times, surpassing my expectations, that why, im not bitching
mostly true. i got a half hour out of online support from them well after my warranty expired. probably was an error on person on other side.
i have had both excellent experience with apple and less than recently as they sound like they are reading off the most of same info they have available for public on their website.
that said, apple, according to consumer reports rates as they best experience for support in industry.
and how many vendors are there anymore which dont charge for customer support after warranty expires?
and the trolls will undercut his whole point without checking it out to see if it has merit only because it came from apple user, and "thus it just has to be zealotry"(TM)
one more thing, the time it takes 5 designers who know photoshop already and anyone who comes after that to learn the GIMP way of doing things, it costs them each a day learn how to use work, and more time later on to get to do things Photoshop does easier, faster and better, if it cant open or exchange e PSD file with other vendors, that are FLAWLESS, it will cost on back end more than cost of 5 licenses in Billable time. easy.
true enough, and if doesn't support pantone colors or play well with other programs, such as Indesign, or illustrator, you would have wasted a lot of time waiting for simple CYMK. Lets designers pick their own software, we know what we need and how to use it, and more importantly, WHY we need it.
Sometimes Professional tools cost money. And in the designer tool box, Photoshop is one you dont skimp on.
why you raise a good point, i doubt that will happen with DVD or CD media.
Look at the Atari VCS system. it is almost 30 years old, and if you want one to play your old games, you can get one off ebay right now. CD/DVD players are far more ubiquitous than that Atari ever was. heck they are even putting them in cars.
i would venture that 80% of general public has at least one device which can read either media.
I too am Graphic designer and have worked on macs since early 90's. It is a tool that works. i dont have time for the crap pc users have to put up with to get things done.
Before computers took over design world, i was taught the necessary skills for doing design and production with Pens, Triangles and paste-up etc.. All artist depend on their tools to get work done. The mac in this regard has always been the better tool for designers. Time is money in a busy shop. And apples products pay for them selves on back-end.
Deadlines are tight and the burdens on system doing hi end graphics work are much greater than tossing a word doc around. Having one vender in this situation is a plus. I can walk into any graphics studio and look around and KNOW by looking at the apple desktops they have, what their capabilities are in work flow.
If things go wrong, recovering has always been a breeze too. dont get me started on PC viruses either. At my last gig, we had a few people on windows boxes. I can even recall how many times the tech guys came in to repair those systems, the mac users in the year i was there never were down for more than a few minutes.
it might because M$ partners are more aligned to flash mp3 players and that Apple may have the most supply of drives for thier iPods. the only way M$ DRM players are going catch up in market share is on the low end, so they prmote that.
Re:what was HD size on those macs?

Apple Easter Egg

my bad, after re-RTFA it was on sytem cd disc, and probably not the shipping hd
what was HD size on those macs?

Apple Easter Egg

my old 7500 was only 500 MB, so im guessing the HD they shipped was 250 MB? whatever the size was, if they had a easter egg that was that large that was irresponsible and flagrant abuse and waste of their customers hardware resources and dollars
in your flame you ignore the reason apple was succesful...
they werent the first ay any of those things, all of which in themselves are less the sum of parts.
they were first and to integrate it as a SYSTEM, between the mp3 player, they jukebox software and the music store, none of which sucked. Apple did what apple is good at, making things work SIMPLY.
making things work elegantly and simply were easy, then no other companies would be knocking off apples products and UI as they always do. yet somehow, apple runs circles around most of the PC world, and now the electronic gadget world. a world which was knocked up the head because isn't known for integrating gadgets with software and online services.
Apple is, thus iPod's success
also the iPod is ONLY mp3 player with the scroll wheel. this is a huge advantage as all the other players seem like crap after using it.
when i bought 10.3, it came with the ilife apps. i seriously doubt apple is going tgo ship a os update without itunes, iphoto, imovie or idvd, unless apple has said the contrary.
no doubt? given that prgram soundjam, which was creadted before itunes, by same programer, had this same flaw,... your jsut full of shit. no doubt? your a fud spewing dipshit
so how do you like os x in general?

what system or program has ever been released without bugs? some bugs wont and maybe cant be discovered until wider deployment.
as pragmatic approach, i would imagine you do best you can and fix what you can after that.
after version 10.1 i have no complaints, and the usability and speed keeps getting better and better, at times, surpassing my expectations, that why, im not bitching
not bad, but your workflow if you are doing music and video would have been worth extra $250 for the mini.

you forget, this GW Bush's America. "Consumer Protection Laws" is fast becoming a oxymoron
use whatever you want. no one cares. As a Mac user, i could care less.

not to mention the numerous times he faults Apple and offers he is personal subjective take on them. if anyone is zealot in this matter it was you
i think you are over reacting.

yes, i have a freind who boughta powerbook last month and the new iLife apps are already pre-installed
probably something better than you would have imagined.
