Name one that doesn't. I could paste the Forbes fortune 1000 list here. Every single one of them runs an application they consider critical on Windows.
(This is where some poser comes in claiming to work for one of them and saying they do not, that person is a liar)
There has never been anything like a conensus in scientific communities on global warming. No consensus on its existence, no consensus on mans influence if it does exist.
A consensus is often implied by the media because it makes for a scarier story. Period. The only people who believe in a consensus are either blinded by a political agenda or they get all their news from network television.
A stealth move by the president approved by a vote of 398 to 23 in the House.
Is there no end to the lunacy that conspiracy theorists are capable of believing.
Umm no one ever hears digital audio. At some point, no matter how much money you spend, it has to be converted to an analog signal so your ears can hear it.
You can get a bundle of Civ IV and Warlords at direct2drive for $69.95 downloaded.
Not a bad deal and the DLs are pretty speedy, at least as fast as steam.
(I have no interest in Direct2Drive, and frankly this entire article was an advertisement)
1. Were they invited?
2. Gaming Press covers games, how to play them , if they are fun. They do not cover public policy.
I fail to see why the gaming press would express any interest in this at all, or the author thinks they should.
Wow this poor guy was beaten up by an ill-informed moderator. I hope someone can straighten this out in the meta-mod.
I have not had any luck wih CrossOver either. Parallels and Bootcamp work great, for those of us with Intel macs. Everyone else is stuck till the player is released.
Sling Player hads always captured at 320x240 and the latest firmware will cpature at 640x480 automatically on LAN connections or can be turned on manually for Internet connections.
Facts > Fiction. It is not cheap hardware the encoder / software combo will deliver a better image over the Internet than 90% of users will see over the LAN with VLC.
Of course had we acted on them and taken out the suspected perpetrators without definative proof of exactly what they were going to do , you would have complained about that. Why do you not just admit you are a partisan with no sense of objectivity and move on.
Odd to see a SlashDot article written by someone who does not know what a Beta is. In every sense this article completely misses the point.
Yahoo mail has been around for over 10 years. They created an upgrade to their interface which is currently in BETA. The service is not named BETA (Either is Gmail) the NEW INTERFACE is in beta. Had the person done any research at all they would have noticed that yahoo mail and gmail are different services.
I suppose any standard for an article being mildly are officially in the crapper.
1920x1080p/24 is the native resolution of Most (maybe all) HD-DVD disks and last I checked, no hd-dvd players supported 1080p. (This certainly may have changed recently).
This opens up a big market for MS because they will be providing a relatively low cost hd-dvd player with 1080p support.
You could buy optional hardware for the Atari 2600. (Some games required keypad use for example). The difference is no games will require 1080p and very few will require a hard drive (if any).
Interesting theory. There are enough significant exceptions to your theory that it is pretty easy to just disregard it. Microsoft and Apple are companies that have been run by the engineers most of their lives and they have done very well. They each employ their share of MBAs, but implying having a MBA somehow puts you above people who are primarily engineers. (I know in my example neither of them have degrees, both have good business sense, most would still consider them engineers.)
If you find what you want to do, you can be succesful. The degree will not matter nearly as much as your personality and real knowledge. There are very few companies that will exclude a candidate exclusively on wether or not they have a degree. There are even fewer that will exclude someone who does not have a degree in a particular field.
The most fun we have is when new hire MBAs come in fresh out of school, with their only job experience being what was required to get into business school. Theory and what works in the real world are always two very different things.
Actually killing them all will cut down the swelling. Next country rises up kill all them too. Makes as much friggin sense as the morons whining about no toothpaste in their carry on bags.
You are right , we should just let them blow up the planes when we have a known specific threat.
People's capacity to use a computer without a brain still continutes to amaze me.
The toothpaste change was a response to a specific threat, not because they want to infringe your rights. Check a bag for your toothpaste, end of problem. There is no right to carry toothpaste in your carry on luggage.
Why did he mention Dell several times in the article. They have considerably more QA issues than Apple and develop very few of their lines to a stable state. They have never released and Inspiron that did not require a BIOS update for thermal stability, at least not one worth using.
Fact is some issues are hard to find in a controlled QA envionment. The nano screens was the glaring case of a failure in QA and Apple has acknowledged that.
The key is not transmitted or sent to the socket file. This person does not understand anything about private key authentication and should return all of his certifications, and please stop posting stories by them, it is embarassing.
The blurb on slashdot, is not very telling and about the worst part of the article. If you read the article you will see a clear case of Microsoft trying to extort a company into paying for their professional services. The best line is where MS claims this is the only unbiased way to resolve the issue.
The extortion is clearly criminal. if there are people who actually bought into this act, it would be a good time to look in Criminal and Civil RICO.
Comparing the support one receives on a $100 piece of software versus the response someone receives on a random forum for a free distribution if absurd. There are plenty of supported distros available for users who need it, and plenty of very helpful forums out there for people using the free distributions. It is unfortunate that some users ran into some bad apples. I am certain you could find similar examples if you went through random windows forums.

Certainly is nice to see Bishy and Asshat right on the front page at Slashdot. Well done.

If anything ever needed to be tagged as absurd.
You have show remakrable patience and restraint in the face of abundant ignorance.
I seem to recall a History professor about 10 years agon her ein the US that believed that was still the case... zzzz...zzzz....zzzz

The head in the sand approach to terrorism is why over 3000 people died on 9/11. Thanks for trying to revive it.
