"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."
I take it a dead body rolling downhill would be taxed, regulated and subsidized and in some states allowed to vote.

DirectX 10 is the only reason I'd install Vista. Microsoft has no plans to port DirectX 10 to XP and the general belief is it's part of their strategy to get people to upgrade. DirectX 10 is impressive but the fact it's married to Vista most developers are wary of designing for it. I briefly considered it then dropped the idea. It may be sadly backfiring since few are going to switch to Vista for DirectX 10 so it's hurting the new standard. I hope they are rushing to released a "fixed" version of Vista addressing the downsides but I have to believe it's at least two years off. Don't expect much game development for DirectX 10 until that happens.
I've killed one with an air can. I'm not kidding. The first time it happened I was shocked but after a day it started to work again so I decided it was just something bizarre since I had been doing it for years with PCs. Well the same thing happened the second time I tried cleaning the same board only this time it was dead for all time. I've never tried it again. I didn't excessively spray it I was just trying to get out the dust. All I can think is it blew dust into the electronics. Never had this problem with a PC keyboard. I have had spilled drinks kill several so I'd hesitate to try a dishwasher. Part of the problem isn't the circuit board but the wiring and other components oxidizing. Decent keyboards are pretty cheap so I replace them several times a year, I wear them out fast. I usually keep a spare or two on hand as well.
Since when is established science and "opinion"? It's become the battle cry of those that don't like the established science and want to spin it into just an opinion. Science is often revised and updated but established science is not based on opinion it's based on facts. Even theories aren't opinion but an extrapolation of facts that needs to be supported with testing and additional data. We should stop using the word opinion when we deal with the sciences. We aren't talking about social issues where there can be multiple opinions science is about the nature of the universe and isn't subject to opinion.
Is it still Thursday or is this post a dupe? Really important because if it's still Thursday I have two extra days to finish the job I'm working on. Man I've got to pay more attention to what day it is.
I'm curious if anyone has ever recieved their money back because they refused to agree to the EULA? Or is it a matter of choice after laying down $200 to $7,000, Maya and XSI are $7,000 and I use both, to not use the software and eat the purchase price when you don't agree to the conditions? If you have to use a certain software what choice do you have? Given most agreements are boilerplates and vary little is the choice to use a computer or not? The government has dropped the ball on the whole issue. There is zero oversight so the companies can do whatever they want.
It took them a 100 years to catch up with Tesla. Lot's of others are referencing Tesla but some seem to think it was just one of the things attributed to Tesla that may or may not be true. We call them flourecent light bulbs. Want to reproduce what he was doing get a vandergraph genrator and walk a florescent tube towards it. A miracle! Light. The process is well documented what's lacking is a practical safe means of applying it. If you think you got a shock off of carpet try a static generator. What seem to be the revealation is doing it with a low efficency bulb. That's technology for you we reproduced the experiment just not as well so it's an advancement. Go down to Walmart, pick up several compact florescents and put them under the same conditions. You save a few hunderd grand and they'll draw less power.
The prints should be archival at the prices they charge. Ink is the biggest scam in computers today. The excuse that we never considered longevity is total BS the issue was how cheap can we make the ink and much can we charge for it to maximize the profits. The real point is they don't care. You can buy archival ink but it's even more expensive.
Ask any Congressman and they'll be happy to tell you they don't take gifts from Lobbyist. Then you start asking have you ever accepted a trip, expensive bottle of wine or dinner, etc and the story changes. There are other ways of pressuring and where as I think there are legit sites like Tom's I think the percentages are much worse than presented. At the very least many sites are biased whether the bias comes from personal conviction or encouragement is the question.
I do graphics and the older machines might as well have come with a handcrank. Also older Macs were slow by any standard.
Things like start up are silly to compare because they have far more to do with system configuration than processor power. I had an old Via 600 machine that could start most apps in seconds but was rediculously slow. Traditional benchmarks are the standard for a reason. In some ways rendering has only increased marginally over the years but that is because demand has gone up dramatically. A frame I render now in minutes on one machine might have taken months to render with a render farm fifteen years ago but length of time each frame takes to render hasn't changed as much, it's demand that has changed. It's really apples and oranges comparing what we were doing years ago with today. Systems are drastically faster and more powerful. For all my complaints even the OSs have gotten faster and more powerful, mainly OSX since they finally shed the old OS. I'm more interested in real world comparisons of Windows, OSX and Linux. I just wish some one would do an unbiased across the board comparison. Almost every review is done by people that favor one system. I have a personal favorite based on my experience but it's not the best in every area. There needs to be reviews comparing the systems based on Office apps, graphic apps and gaming. Those three things provide a good watermark to judge strengths and weaknesses on.

So the artists producing the music aren't getting a dime either. You don't strike a blow for freedom by stiffing the artists.

The entire crew should be made up of nerds and geeks. They can do 17 months without sex standing on their heads.

I was wondering why the web searches for drag photos of Giuliani are coming up bust.

When your printer demands you spend $25 on a UV ink cartridge so you can print a black text letter.
A strange game, the only winning move is not to play.
