It's funny, every studio that made a gamecube title in the first year since its launch must have written the VM code to use aram as addressable memory. An no, it's still not enough memory.
(Europeans turned out to win over Asia, for a subtler reason: because Europe is more geographically diverse than China. The natural boundaries between areas increased the number of distinct states, rather than allowing one strong empire to form. This made the countries that did exist more competitive and aggressive)
Basically a rehash of Paul Kennedy's Rise and Fall of the Great Powers, then?
Gran Turismo 3 has a great sound track. One track. Singular. Namely, Dogg Turismo. The rest is just awful. I've played the game about 1/2 through, and have had Dogg Turismo on repeat for about all of it. What an awesome song.
One of my favorite parts is where Snoop stumbles over the lyrics.
I don't mean to single out baby boomers. It's common to each generation to keep listening to their own shovelware. It's worst with the baby boomers because there are so many of them, I stand a much better chance of having to hear tripe from the 60s. At least top 40 stations rotate their playlists so you always get exposed to new crap.
But sure, there was good music way back when. Not that you'd know it listening to oldies stations. You'd think the Beatles broke up before Revolver if you listen to Los Angeles oldies radio.
The thing is, even today baby boomers are listening to the same oldies crap that they've been droning on about for the last 40 years. You'd think with advanced age their musical taste would improve, but it's stayed just the same. Man, I can't wait for that genre to die.

Immersion demands that I play the game as myself. Playing a role, even one with some narrative depth, destroys that immersion. One reason I liked GTA3 was that they didn't try to force you to play as some cliched stereotype. Which is why Vice City was worse.
People interested in character development should go read a book. They might see how shallow the stories in games really are.
I think the OSS movement should get nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize - getting China to cooperate with Japan is not easy.
Yeah, those pesky Chinese hate having Nanjing raped. Imagine the ingratitude! Hopefully this will lead them to be a little more enlightened to the lessons of the Melian dialogue.
I'm agree with you about THPS4 sucking, but really THPS3 is the worst offender here. The introduction of revert was a crime. The best of the series remains, IMHO, the venerable THPS2X.
I guess I'm the defacto Linux OpenAL maintainer. I wrote the linux implementation when I worked at Loki. But my current maintenance is anything but full-time, and the existing code is looking very long in the tooth.
OpenAL is gaining interest on the Win32 platform, which is really where it counts. Creative in general and Garin Heibert in particular have been phenomenal, really good citizens of the free software community. There are developments under way that may help that. Ryan Gordon has used it for some of huge mountain of porting work he does, and as a matter of protocol, any fix or feature that Ryan wants, he gets.
On the Linux platform, who knows what the future holds. I'm really not trying to be a troll but my view of the feasability of the Linux desktop and Linux gaming has gotten much more pessimistic since my time at Loki. OpenAL may be recognized as a "standard" complement to OpenGL just as OpenGL loses all remaining relevancy.
But ignoring all those things - the things out of Linux user's immediate control - I have it on good authority that the web site will more accurately reflect the things going on with OpenAL development very, very soon. If you have an interest, join the mailing list. To quote a reliable source, "it really is your library."
Yeah, the web site needs to be updated. It will be soon, as part of a larger overhaul spearheaded by Creative. Hopefully this will serve to quell many of the people who think that no development is going on because we never rarely update the website.
OpenAL on Win32 I'd say is much more actively and aggressively maintained than its linux counterpart. Currently it's suffering from the lack of a full-time maintainer and not enough community contribution. I don't know if that's a metric of lack of general interest in sound programming, a lack of interest in 3d audio, or lack of interest in OpenAL.
I strongly suggest anyone interested to subscribe to the mailing list. Check the website for more info.
You must be thinking of the movie, directed by David Lynch, which was brilliant. It even transcended the genre. They did the miniseries, staring William Hurt, which sucked.
Some of the (few) people who benefited from his destruction of the constitution, the defense industry, have decided to honor him. Expect to see his face on the $1,000,000 dollar bill when they make one so his other pals can have a wallet picture.
Try getting a job. You'll find punctuality is actually considered a virtue.
This won't have any kind of speed
Good, maybe it won't kill mac gaming like it did Linux gaming.

It's even got one of those - uh - PT Cruisers too
Well, that and killing the opposition.

Some packers fans will cry? When Brett Favre retires you should expect a Jonestown in Cheeseland.

Then you're too young to be playing either of these games. They're rated 'M' for mature.
... they have missed the most important feature: Changing game
How is this the most important feature? Who changes their games that often? I've had advance wars practically soldering into my GBA since buying it.
Turning $2000 worth of equipment into $150 of value is a Department of Defense specialty.

It could have been worse. It could have started with a dictionary definition.
Webster's Dictionary defines practical as being capable of blah blah blah
or my least favorite
Programming: programming (n): 1. The designing, scheduling, or blah blah blah

You don't need to check for NULL. It's perfectly valid and safe to call free(NULL).
because it sounds like a pile of crap. Not suprising that this is the best a bunch of ivy leaguers could come up with.
1) Build Hoover Dam
2) Wealth created!
Unlike 99% of free market yahoos who profit from the speculative, ie imaginary, economy.
You misspelled superior.

You can usually count my money using a 1-bit integral type with 1-bit for error checking.
