The point is that you're government is investing into it's own industries to help keep your economy from completely falling apart. Airports are a place and have an excuse where one can spend billions on equipment that are not used for war and people seem to not fight against it.
Outside of that, anyone flying into the US has to have all the US travelers completely quarantined from the International and domestic travelers, the scanning equipment has to be certified (and usually made by a US company), and your bags go through a multi-tier of scanners, usually 1 to 5 times (from what we have at my work) more that domestic or international flights.
I fly a lot, but I rarely fly into the US in the end, its what make people feel 'safe'. There isn't much inconvenience, put my bag on the belt and walk through a scanner, answer the same dumb questions and occasionally have an extra scan. If the US wants me to fly in a special suit then if I have business I'll still probably do it, it's still much faster and it beats driving across the boarder and having to deal with the assholes put there that can really ruin my day.
Guys, you're missing the point. It isn't for the Vegans, it is for those who are not Vegan have Meat so that it cuts back on the amount of Animals are killed for meat every year. Not to mention the amount of other resources that it would save; clean water being the biggest one that comes to mind.
You're right. However I feel comfortable that guys like Dan Kaminsky, Director Penetration Testing (See article for link) are on the job...Testing and penetrating.
--after Islamists told Wikileaks that they would be killed for hosting the film.
Where did you get that information, or is that just you being prejudice?
Let's look at the word prejudice from dictionary.com:
1. an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason.
2. any preconceived opinion or feeling, either favorable or unfavorable.
3. unreasonable feelings, opinions, or attitudes, esp. of a hostile nature, regarding a racial, religious, or national group.
I asked where they got that information. When you're going to make it look like a religious group makes death threats all the time, then you'd better give me a creditable reference to who said it and when, otherwise you are 'being', with that post, have a prejudice towards them as a religion. You on the other hand, are the personification of an Anonymous Coward, right?
Wow, what a foolish comment. Yes, your understanding is correct it is a joy-ride, INTO SPACE. If people who can pay out the 200,000$ to part-take in this trip cared about flying to another spot of the world, I'm sure they'd have done so already via safer and more comfortable transportation like Passenger Jets. Remember, SSII is not meant to hold your baggage and carry-on for the destination. It's meant to give you a view of the world from orbit. Something only a handful have experienced
Well not to say that Lynx is perfect but I'd like to note that the first link shows an exploit over 10 years old and the second is almost 3 years old. Both have been addressed.
Although I find your comment Interesting I would point out that this gadget isn't for people who care what services they pay for. It is seems to be aimed for jet-hoppers who don't want a laptop or just prefer their handheld but could certainly be productive with an in-between-er to make thumb typing and navigating a little easier. I don't think this is the best fit however as it is still quite large.
What I found hilarious is it connects to your phone and you can connect it to another VGA monitor. Now thats redundancy!
Well I'm sure they considered including, "The town that invited the delicious Nanaimo bar" but, by saying that it is a mining town constrasts better with the technology they're trying to implement. It's called good writing, in fact I think it's the decision that got it here on Slashdot. It also appeals to a larger audience, from blue collar coal miners to, upper-middle class Blackberry users who love google.
My high school physics teacher told me that gravity, no matter how far away a massive object is, does 'pull' on us and that atoms are formed in stars.
An example comes to mind that when the wind blows and it's cold, you put on a jacket if you're not already wearing one.
To me, I can't help to want to give some credit to astrology because of these ideas. However, the industry of astrology is laughable, especially when every 2 weeks the newspaper astrologist tells me it's a good time to buy things and that I'm going to get a good deal.
That would have a pretty high chance of causing/accelerating their downfall, and such an organization of course has some interest in selfpreservation.
I'm not convinced their downfall is a good thing either, as I prefer Christianity/Catholisim over Islamism as the leading world religion. A lot.
But that's because you're ignorant, narrow minded and full of biased information. My history of Christianity isn't so unlike other major religions, and it's policies towards women, acts of sin etc etc. Don't forget, Hinduism is still ahead of Christianity in terms of numbers, thus confirming you really don't have an educated opinion. The world is a big place with big ideas scattered all over. Doesn't start and stop with North America.
It's cool though bro, I'm ignorant too. For example, I don't know the name of the current Pope, I only know what he had for breakfast.

I would say from reading the article these guys do some hacks. Nothing done here could be achieved easily by a casual user nor are options explained by the manufacture for the casual user.
Not really. Companies manufacture this stuff and people like to play with them. This couple claims to be just playing with it out in their yard when the helicopter overflew it. Basically the FBI and police arresting them should have been enough to swear them off this sort of thing.
What gets me is how the pilot and observer could track the laser even after he had been hit. You'd think if it was that uncomfortable to put someone away for 25 years and slap them with a huge fine then you'd be landing in a parking lot somewhere with tears in your eyes.
Honestly I've thought a lot about this issue. I've watched all the movies many many times.
To start, the episodes 1, 2 and 3 weren't so unlike the original trilogy. The story was mostly G-rated, with not a lot of blood and violance (although 4,5,6 re-release I noticed the scenes added/updated seemed much more violent than the original) It seemed like the same formula however. We had Jar Jar as our 3PO, Obi-Wan as our Han solo, Anakin was basically Luke and the Universe faced the same situation.
I think most of us Adults forget that these movies were obviously aimed at a different audience, look at the fight scenes, the love scenes the political dialog, all of it isn't complicated--a 6 year old could follow it easily. I feel like these movies were mostly a sell-out. The toys, the backpacks, the snacks, even the characters seemed aimed at Children. Anakin was a 8 year old--perfect to create an idol for 8 years of merchandise purchases.
If we watch the actors, we can see that they're really laying on the Cheese. Ewan McGregor is a good example, I think this was his worst role I've ever seen him in.
I lost my steam on this post, but in all, these movies are exactly what I expected. If I want to enjoy the Star Wars universe I will always be more happy with the Books and few video games (SW: SOTE for N64 comes to mind).
No, Lucas didn't redeem himself on the 3rd I think it was actually a shame, it seemed like he tried to make all his fanboys happy and really didn't do a great job.
Unfortunately there isn't enough money for the Government to build a few plants, let alone enough to meet energy demands for the decades to come.
Investors on the other hand will direct a companies decisions and ultimately what we would pay for service and without investors Nuclear power isn't going to replace anything. Which is what I think the parents concern is.

Good point, but you're not willing to pay to have it manufactured here as it would cost more. People would feel cheated, etc etc
