Hmmmmm.....
Which would you prefer for nighttime deterrence?
The muzzle flash from the Mosin Nagant M91-30 (Russian Dragon), or the repetitive knockdown power of the M1A?
This is Comcasts standard argument to defend/obfuscate its brainless prioritizing practices.
If Comcast would stop advertising for more customers than its netwrk could handle, and spend that mone on upgrading its infrastructure like it should be, they wouldn't have a need for traffic shaping. Here is a simple analogy:
You are the mayor of a town. You (effectively the CEO), and your city council (effectively the Board Of Directors), want to increase revenue to your town, so you advertise all over the state, asking people to visit your businesses, golf courses, schools, niversities, buy houses. and start business there. However, you only have two roads the lead in and out of your town. Instead of spending money upgrading your roads and by-ways, you spend money on more advertising. Plus, you complain about the massive traffic problems that continue to mount. Your idea to improve traffic is to punish drivers who drive in/through your town if they don't have a reason that you feel is valid, instead of upgrading roads. Meanwhile, you continue to advertise for more people.
Comcast is essentially manipulating/fixing the market by artificailly creating a shortage of of bandwidth, therefore allowing them to "generate" revenue for and from advertising instead of providing resonable service by not upgrading their infrastructure. Comcast can then claim that their is a shortage of bandwidth and throttle traffic, giving them an "excuse" to spend the money on more profitable advertising. Advertising generates more customers, thus, increased revenue. Upgrading infrastructure does not (or very few customers) compared to advertising.
Last time I checked, price fixing and market manipulation are both illegal.
Actually, I believe that what is said during confession is not even touchable by the law. The preist is also fobidden from telling anyone what he has been told, or who told him.
Yes, almost every politician takes money from lobbyists, but I never thoughr that I would hear a Presidential candidate openly defend their own selfish and corrupt practice of taking money from lobbyists.
Hillary openly said that she would not stop taking money from lobbyists becaue "lobbyists represent the American people". I have never heard a politician openly say such a thing, let alone publicly.
Everyone knows that lobyists DO NOT represent the American public, they only represent people with enough money to buy a politician. The people the lobbyists get their money from represent a fraction of Americans, thus, they do not represent Americans.
The fact they do not represent Americans is why the American public is so fed up with them. That is why lobbyist influence has become such a big issue in the Presidentia lelection- We are sick and tired of greedy special interests buying our politicians and running our lives the way they think we should live them.
If online news outlets cut out the advertising promos that precede every video news clip, it would be a million times more popular that it already is.
I mean, nobody wants to see an advertisement tht is twice as long as the video clip itself. People will especially be turned off when they realize they took the time two view a 30 second mattress or advertisement just to view a 45sec-1min news clip about a story that is either boring, uninformitive as print, or just plain crappy.
Advertising is the Black Plague of all media. It's consumer repellent ability can't be denied, and the number of good ideas that have been ruined by ads is unimaginable.
Exactly! You know, we suffer the same threats and danger from diabled WWII veterans as we do from Middle Easterners.
Those damn Veterans, Norwegians, Swedes, Canadians, and Finnish are the most evil of the evil though. They could bomb the US at any minute, and preach violence, death, and destruction against the US and it's allies. Better search them double.
Oh!..... And don't forget those conniving Dutch bastards too!
Who's threatening us? Muslims / Middle Easterners. Who poses the greatest threat? Muslims / Middle Easterners Who's preaching for the death and destruction of the USA? Muslims / Middle Easterners So who does it make the most sense to search at the airport? Muslims / Middle Easterners
"Profiling" is the most efficient, and logical, way to find what you are looking for. Call it evil or whatever you want, but it is simply the most efficient, and logical, way to find what you want. People don't understand, we are not being threatened by Mexicans, Irish, or the Dutch. We are being threatened by Muslim Middle Easterners. It's not rocket science.
Ten bucks says some Left-Wing "Group Hug" Nutjob mods this down.
Maybe they could use the heat and methane collected from the massive piles of rotting political bullshit and use that to power, heat, and fuel the U.S.?
Here in the U.S., we could free ourselves from the fat tits of the Oil Sheiks in the Middle East in no time!
If I was threatened with arrest just for carrying my pills in a daily or weekley pillbox, I would have accused the officer of having a small pecker, told him to blow his charge out his ass, ask him if he really thought his overzealous charge would actually stand up in court, and to arrest me. The resulting lawsuit against him and the department would more than pay for a lifetime of medication, and the officer may even lose his job (the issue would definitely come up in his next performance review).
Every police officer/Sherriff's Deputy I know has much more common sense than make such a stupid accusation. They would definitely be able to understand that it is more prudent (and reasonable) to take the chance that it is just someone wanting to take their meds at the right time, than to bust someone for having pills out of their original container. Also, they should be able to take into acount the situation that the person was found with the pills. Was it a 15 year old with a box full of OxyContin, or an older fellow with a weekly box full of miscellaneous pills in his luggage? Or was it a 30-year old man in good shape, no injuries, with a bottle of Morphine? Which is more suspicious?
Any Judge would understand that having a daily/weekly pillbox to make sure you took the right meds at the right time was more important (but illegal) than carrying them in a bunch of bottles (not illegal) Although what you did was *technically* illegal, the charge would/should be dismissed on the grounds that it violated your rights and was a threat to your health/well-being. What's more serious: Going to the hospital for forgetting to take medications, or not having them in the original bottles?
I know we like to ridicule judges for making outrageously stupid rulings (Here in the U.S.A. it happens all to much), but all but the most incompetent Judges and District Attorneys would dismiss/decline the case/charge. And even if you did lose, it would be overturned almost immediately.
What the officer should have done is check his I.D., checked him for warrants and related priors, and if no warrants or no related priors came up, let him go without further question.
The DNC list was intended to be the same thing as those "NO SOLICITING" signs that people put up on their front doors or front gates. Basically, if you were a solicitor and *still* solicited to the residence, you were legally trespassing.
The DNC list is supposed to be the same exact thing, albeit in one government-maintained database, and since the telemarketers cannot see the signs on your door, the DNC list was a place where telemarketers could look and "see" if you forbade soliciting.
However, the non-profits had this crazy idea that their calls weren't annoying since they were asking fr donations. They were solicititing donations and they ARE just as annoying as any other telemarketer (especially since only a fraction of what you donate goes towards the cause beind the donation). Political solicitations are no less irritating, and should NOT be exempt either.
If I want to buy a product, service, or donate, then I will do it ON MY OWN ACCORD. Telemarketing should be the other way around: You call them when you want to buy a product, service, or donation.
Let's start banning all insensitive and offensive material from the internet! That's a wonderful idea!
When will society stop being hypersensitive about everything?! Nowadays, everybody wants an apology from everybody for everything they say/do/think/believe.
The thinking has become: "It's O.K. to stop someone's free speech and harass/ridicule them into apologizing to you because they said something you didn't like!"
I haven't had a Scout...yet... but my cousin drove one. I have a Ford F250 with an International Harvester / Navistar 185A 7.3L V8 diesel. I had a *massive* fuel leak problem when the state mandated Low Sulfur diesel. I hadn't had a fuel system retrofit kit installed yet, so the new diesel type destroyed virtually all of the seals and some of the hoses in the fuel system. It was dripping on to the ground in a steady stream and pooling on top of the intake manifold.
THANKFULLY, I used a MagLite to find the sources of the leaking fuel, and not this "Pocket Arson" that these people came up with.

I think the fact that God hasn't struck down the people who have bastardized and exploited the Bible with bolts of lightning further reinforces the argument that God doesn't like mercy killings.
Some of us who drive large 1-ton pickups can't afford a giant tax while the brat driving a tiny Porsche Boxter can afford a smaller one.
We work for a living, so we have to buy a vehicle that we can use for work. I don't drive a large truck because I want to. I drive it because I NEED to. I'll drive something smaller as soon as I can fit 4,000 lbs of broken concrete demo and a jackhammer in the back of it without a scratch.
I can't afford to buy a separate, smaller car for commuting, and also keep a large work vehicle that can take a beating. If I didn't need to drive a big diesel beast, believe me, I wouldn't. Why should I have to pay a large toll to work (for my living) in my large truck while some brat pays a small toll to go to the mall in their new compact? Especially since I ALREADY pay out the ass for a Commercial Registration. Now, if having a Commercial Registration made myself and other Commercial Reg holders exempt from the toll hikes, that would be much more palatable.
How well could the system differentiate between a semi and a full-size pickup with a long trailer? Also, weighing-in-motion would not help with the gridlock, since you need to slow to around 3-5 mph to be accurate.
The best way to price motorists off the road is through registration. If you keep registration for Commercial registrants low, while pricing Private registrants much higher, it would allow for a much fairer method of adjusting taxes/fees by determining usage, rather than size. I would use this scheme:
Semi-Tractors/Bobtails (DOT Classes "A" and "B") would have the lowest registraion fees, since there are relatively much fewer of them than any other type of on-road vehicle.
Full-Size Pickups (DOT Class "C" with Commercial Registration/plates and Diesel engines) would have slightly higer registration, since much extra is already paid to the State in fuel taxes and registration fees. Diesel vehicles are dual-use, in that they can be used for work ("Living Wage") as well as getting people from Point A to Point B
Private (DOT Class "C" with Private Registration/plates) would have much higher fees, since they are the most numerous and account for the majority of the vehicles on the road. They also pay the fewest taxes at the pump (gasoline is taxed much lower than diesel in my state) because of different tax rates and a smaller quantity of fuel, and they generally have only one purpose: Moving people around.
Furthermore, someone SHOULD figure out some wording that DOES NOT put "Hummers" in the same class as full-size trucks, and allow them to Register as Commercial vehicles because their excessive weight puts them in a different class.
That is exactly the way we've been voting in my city for years.
Here is our process:
1: Show up to the polling place (Some people find this pretty hard to do). 2: Give them your name and DL, Military ID, State ID card, or Passport. 3: They look up your name, address, and Party and give you the appropriate ballot in a hard, opaque plastic sleeve with a black marker pen. 4: You go into a little stall and take as much time as you want figuring out which corrupt blowhard you want to "give" your vote to. 5: You then bring your ballot and pen back to them, in the sleeve, and they tear off the end stub and give it to you as your reciept, and ask you if you want an "I Voted" sticker (which I always get). 6: They then take your ballot out of the sleeve and place it into a scanner that automatically scans the ballot and then drops it into huge, secure safe the size of a washing machine. 7: You then go home, crack open a few beers and wait to see which idiot got elected.
If you are disabled, they always have numerous volunteers from each party specifically designated to aid those with disabilities.
After an election, the paper ballots are tallied and matched against the electronic tally.
How could people find this so goddamn difficult to understand?!
